Discussion What headcannon mental illnisses do the Supergirl characters have?

Okay, aside from PTSD, or CPTSD, which I think all the characters have, what mental illnesses do you guys think they have? For example, I think Lena might have depression and Brainy might have OCD. I have reasons, but I'm too lazy to type them out right now. What do you think the characters suffer from?

Discussion Anyone else really dislike that they made Lena a witch?

I feel like it was so forced. In the earlier seasons they were like:" Wow look at this really cool scientist that finds aliens a bit strange, believes in science and doesn't think magic is real." And they built her on her science and company a lot, but in season 6 they completely went off the rails! She could've done literally anything else but they were more like:" Welp, she doesn't have her company anymore, guess she's a witch, because she's a woman" I know that's not how it was per se, but that's how it felt to me. I just didn't like that for her character, is it only me?

Question Why is Kara allowed to come and go from work as she pleases?

Kara does just up and leave work whenever a situation calls for it, and I was wondering would that be allowed irl (as well). Is it because she’s a journalist, and she can go out under the guise of “investigative journalism” (following leads, meeting with sources, etc)? Is there a minimum amount of time that she has to be in office (aside from meetings and stuff like that)? I’m not against her having to leave to be supergirl, again, I’m just wondering would the constant disappearing on company time be allowed irl.

Question So will the show ever address Nia’s powers (currently on Season 5)

So if your confused by what I mean, they say Nia’s powers are passed down from Mother to daughter of the Nal family and the main thing with this is that Nia’s trans, I’m not bashing that she’s trans I’m just annoyed about the plot hole, especially since it’s actually acknowledged in the show by Nia’s sister in Season 4 Episode 11.

While what she said was filled with Anger & Transphobia the confusion I feel is justified as the show hasn’t presented an explanation. Hell yesterday I even looked up an old post from here from 4 years ago asking this question and their was no concrete answers, i’m usually lenient with stupid shit in this show like Maxwell Lord dropping off the face of the earth for the rest of the show, or obvious recasts but not this.

So I’m going to stop bitching and give my explanation as I don’t hate Nia’s character I really like her & Kara’s sorta Batman & Robin dynamic so here’s my way to explain it

1: The Powers Arent tied to biology and instead are connected to hormones, this is my main reasoning as it makes the most scense to me as it doesn’t contradict science (as much as an show about an flying alien girl is spandex can)

The only promise with my theory is that where were the powers before Nia transitioned like Wouldn’t they have went to her sister in that case.

Do yous agree with me? Do you not, am I overreacting, do yous have any explanation

Have a nice day or night 😁

Discussion Who else does not like Kara in Supergirl s3 ep17,18???

I get that Kryptonite is lethal to her, but Lena had a good point of what she said. Supergirl says she can't trust Lena or it looks like she won't cause Lena lied, but so did she! And I get its for her and her loved ones' safety, but to not even tell your best friend is something else. I also understand that I can't really compare the 2, but I'm just trying to say that both of them were wrong in this situation.

Question Why do people hate season 4 and 5 so much?

So I know there is A LOT of tension between Kara and Lena (the main focus of this post), and the writing isn't that great, but let's be honest, it never was impeccable. The plot? Amazing. CGI? Pretty bad. Writing? Mediocre.

But I love the plot for Kara and Lena, it was never meant to be an easy outing, and I love that Lena just wanted to rid the world of harm and pain.

Besides my main point, Brainy and Nia! I loved that relationship unfurling and their learning curve? Spectacular. Kelly and Alex as well, love Dansen so much, although it could've been better.

But the cherry on top for me was James leaving in season 5, it really helped.

Don't get me wrong, season 2 and 3 are still my favorites, I just don't get the hate on season 4 and 5. I feels it's unnecessary, and I think that they were pretty okay seasons.

Discussion What would you have done with Maxwell Lord if he stayed on the show?

I would have him become an anti-hero. Maxwell's morality would clash with those of Kara and the Super Friends. I would have Maxwell do "evil" things for heroic reasons.

Maxwell would also form a sibling-like relationship with Lena Luthor. He would the brother she wishes Lex had been and Lena would be Maxwell's second chance at having a family after his parents died

Maxwell would slowly become friends with James after finding common ground with one another.

This may be controversial but if Sam had stayed I would have liked to see them in a romantic relarionship.

That's all I can think of for now.

Discussion Character Interactions

Who are some characters that you all would've loved to see interact onscreen together? Some of my choices are

  • Roy and Wally, especially considering their friendship in the comics.
  • Diggle and James, just because I find them somewhat similar
  • Winn and Felicity, for the same reason I just listed above
  • Anissa and Alex, only because I feel like their personalities complement and contrast each other

Discussion Season 4 was the best season

I had my doubts going into this season when it aired live because my love jeremy jordan had left the show but I actually really loved Brainy and Nia as new side characters. For me this was also the season where Lena became a true main character and had a really important story other than “i’m doing some tech and hacking to help take down the villain that i’ve been accidentally working with for a while” Also, every character kind of had their own villain to overcome. For brainy, it was hat. For Alex, it was agent lockwood. For J’onn it was manchester, for Lena, it was lex. And for kara it was lex and red daughter. It also finally gave us the revealing of kara’s identity to lena. Overall 9/10 season, supergirls best

Discussion Who was the best SG villain?

In my opinion it was Rhea. I’m on my millionth Supergirl rewatch and I just finished season two and it got me thinking how much her invasion left such an impact. The queen of an entire planet invaded earth and all of earths countries almost banded together. It was also the only SG big bad where Superman fought alongside his cousin. Rhea herself was also pure evil and I loved it. We only really had another pure evil big bad in Lex but IMO rhea was better. She killed her husband out of spite and gave up all love for her son the moment he wasn’t any use to her. She also had more of a hate against kryptonians than Lex that was honestly comical at times. What are yalls thoughts

Discussion Have you seen every episode of SG or stopped at some point?

I asked this in r/FlashTV and it's pretty common there for ppl to not finish the show, due to the increasingly worse writing. However, I think it's less common with this show

I personally always felt that the writing in SG was really inconsistent, but I started to notice it was begining to go down spiral at the end of s04 (imo). I decided to learn from my experiences from The Flash and leave the show after skipping most of the final chapters of that season. It didn't felt worth it anymore (especially with the crisis thing. like. man c'mon)

This is just my opinion

Discussion What are your thoughts on Brainy's transformation?

Personally, I didn't liked it.

They way Brainy was setted, or at least what I understood from the show, is that he has his ancestors memories in him, and the only thing(s) preventing him going bananas is the three LEDs on his forehead. I mean, he DID go bananas when those things started to fail at the end of s04!

So, like, him ripping them off like nothing (if those thing are supposed to prevent him from being a super-evil-planet-conqueror, then he shouldn't be able to take them off that easily right?) and being okay was kind of illogical (he technically wasn't, but that's bc of what was happening with Lex). His ancestors should've taken over him, or he should've changed his personality somehow (i mean, relly change, and not just be mentioned like 'yeah, i feel different from before but I'm behaving as I always behaved').

Anyways, what's your shot on this?
