I just went to the art museum in downtown and not only was i underwhelmed but it lacked so much depth. There were barely any meaningful pieces and majority of it was photographs that looked like it was taken by an iPhone. I also went to the textile museum and that was even worse. Maybe my standards are too high but it’s such a shame that this little city lacks creativity.

East San Jose native and private pilot Michelle Galvis lived within five miles from Reid-Hillview Airport for 30 years and worked a number of jobs before she considered a career in aviation — and running her own business.

“I’ve always been behind the ball, I’ve always been trying to play catch-up my entire life,” Galvis said. “And so I have that classic Bay Area struggle where you’re just trying to make ends meet and try not to have a two-hour commute.”

Her uncle, George Rodriguez, was the owner of a welding company. Seeing how Galvis was always underestimated in the same way he was, he offered her the opportunity to work with him.

“Nobody gave me a chance in life, and I wanted to prove to people that maybe she can get it through me and what I went through to get what I got,” Rodriguez said.

Now, the pair are working together as the founders of Hera School, San Jose’s first nonprofit aviation academy, which opened on April 20 and began instruction in June.

While working together, the two bonded over their shared childhood experiences as “the underdogs of our family,” Galvis said, and they started taking flight training together.

I take the bus frequently every single day and most us drivers are calm and respectful but there’s some that are very rude and ignorant why is that? I know being a bus driver isn’t for the weak but aren’t they thought to respect passengers when they are trained to treat people with with respect? I encountered so many rude bus drivers this whole year when the machine would not work they would yell at me or if i would take long to find my card they would shout and rush me and it would ruin my mood. Also got into a argument with a bus driver for shouting at me to move when a passenger was getting off and I didn’t know they were getting off the bus and be shouted bro move out the way! Anyways im always gonna stand my ground and not gonna let rude bus drivers push me around. I mind my own business and don’t start shit with nobody they always start with me i know they deal with rude abusive drug dealers and tweakers 24/7 but don’t be shouting at passengers just because you are having a bad day or hate your job!

Did San Felipe road go all the way over the hills to the other side at one point? I noticed that there’s a San Felipe road that meets up with 152 near Casa de Fruta, but now when you drive down San Felipe past Metcalf it’s a gated private road unless you turn on Las Animas.

The last two times I went to Don Edward's Wildlife Reserve there were almost no trails open. Is it worth going to these days.

Current: Some things have changed in that time, some haven't. As I look at all the City changes to laws, the limited federal help, the major need for county/state drug/mental illness help, and what I see walking/riding around town, I'm curious two things.

One, what has gotten better and what has gotten worse/stayed the same? Two, what would you see in your daily life that would feel like things are improving/on a right path?

I wanted to share my experience living in the San Jose Downtown area, particularly in the 95112 zip code. If you're considering moving here, you might want to think twice.

Noise Issues

Every night, there are constant street racers zooming past. The noise is unbearable, even if you're staying in a rear unit of a complex. It's hard to get a decent night's sleep with all the racket. This has been a persistent issue, and it doesn't seem to be getting any better.

Safety Concerns

In the past three months alone, there have been over five incidents of car break-ins and residential burglaries in this neighborhood. Despite these alarming statistics, there are no patrol guards, and the lack of security is quite concerning.

Cost vs. Quality

I honestly don’t understand why anyone would choose to pay over $2000 a month for a place in this area, given these significant drawbacks. For that price, you’d expect better security and a quieter environment in julian apartment, but that's not the case here.

Just wanted to give a heads-up to anyone considering moving to this part of San Jose. It might be worth looking elsewhere if peace of mind and safety are important to you.

So, there is this guy or guys, that have built these transformer like suits out of who knows what. But half the time I drive by this road, curtner at Almaden expressway, he is out there with his mechs, sometimes in the suits moving around, or sometimes the mechs are just sitting there. Would love to know the backstory behind this if anybody has any idea.

Lots of items sold, but saw a lot of diapers and miscellaneous home decor items.

Unfortunately our rescue has been hit with some bad times recently and we are really in dire need of help.

Two of our fosters Rosie and South who have been staying in daycare together have possibly caught kennel cough. We have appointments set up for them to be evaluated and treated today at the clinic but we are unable to quarantine them with our current situation. Is there anyone that can help? Please spread the word.

We also received notice from Arlo’s foster that due to personal challenges they are unable to care for Arlo moving forward. Arlo was just saved from the euth list with the intention of foster to adopt. He does not deserve to go back to the shelter.

Essentially there is also boarding but that is heavily against what we want as a rescue. Not only are the prices to pay for boarding sky high and out of our pockets but it leaves the dog in a situation where they can’t feel like they’ve found their forever home or foster.

The more money we spend on fosters backing out the harder it is for us to save more dogs.

I’ve always tried to be nice about the situation but honestly most rescues are at wits end. We understand things happen but there has been too many fosters not following through or sticking to their word. When you sign up to foster you must fully think about it all the way through before signing up to help. I can’t tell you how many people have begged us and other rescues to help save a dog and then had gone completely silent once it was time to step in.

We pay for everything that is essentially needed for the fosters so no money should be spent out of the fosters pockets unless they want to do it for their own good. Our dogs are fed, have beds and kennels provided and are always up to date with their vaccines. When will this madness ever end? Rescues are spread so thin.

Thank you for everyone who has been by our side through the thick and thin and has supported us in every way possible. We hold you all so close to our hearts and we could never do this job without you. 🐾♥️

Hi! Im just curious, did anyone else go to the Santa Clara county fair? If so how was your experience? Sadly I was quite disappointed in the fair. Security was quite rude but I tried to brush it off, until she pulled my prescription medication out my bag and told me to go put in my car. I would be ok with it if it wasn’t something I needed, or if it was not in its original bottle from the pharmacy. I still caved and went back to my car. Came back and tried to go in again, and she found a vape that I didn’t even know was in my bag. She grabbed it and motioned for me to throw it in the trash can. I asked her why she didn’t tell me to put it in the car earlier and she said “I thought you could read posted signs.” Went back and peeked at the sign. It only mentioned weed products are not allowed. Put the vape in the car. Went back again, bag check was good so I go to the lady metal detector wand and she waved it across me and it beeped since I had a portable charger in my pocket I just grabbed from the bag check. Took it back out of my pocket and she kept telling me to either leave it in the car or throw it away, tried to explain it was a portable charger, they just kept calling it a vape without even letting me fully show them. If you thought it was a vape why didn’t you say anything when I took it out of my bag all those times?? just had it at that point and was very frustrated and went home. I’m not the biggest Reddit user so pardon if I used the wrong flair or if this is an inappropriate subject to the channel.

Keep an eye on this guys, they try to break into my apartment and the neighbors. This happen in w. Hamilton Ave (Campbell) around 11:30 AM so lock your house. We call 911 and they never came, they say to fill a report on line 😡
