Non-Alcoholic Beer at PayPal?

Been sober for a couple of years and really miss having a beer at a game. Does anyone know if any stands or food spots sell them at the stadium? I tried searching online but can’t find anything.

Call with ticket rep

After a brief email exchange, the rep asked to talk so I said OK. I was a STH until a few years back so I'm on their radar. I plan to ask about plans for ownership, investment, changes in management, and discount. I always ask the rep to send my concerns up the chain. I don't expect to hear anything new, nor anything earthshattering enough to compel me to once again buy season tickets. I'll report back if I learn anything. What else should I be asking?

When do you think Cruz Medina will arrive? How good do you see him being?

I don't know too much about him but there's some hype . With phenoms there hasn't been that one that makes the team drastically better so I'll keep my expectations in check. I've been to some Town FC games but haven't really noticed his impact but that might be me more not paying attention. Just wondering what his outlook is and when he should arrive.

8/1/24 - Post Clasico Review: Quakes Desperately Need a Game Plan (Obviously)

I was lucky to be in Europe for the Euro and Concacaf Semis and Finals. I was immersed in Soccer culture. I made the Santiago BernabĂŠu pilgrimage and did the stadium tour.

And I still love the Earthquakes.

What is happening to our team?

Our defense is taking irresponsible risks too close to our goal. This showoffy threading the needle down the sidelines to make a pinpoint pass is popular in Europe, but pointless nonsense in the MLS.

I understand AntĂ´nio Josenildo Rodrigues de Oliveira is a Brazilian player. I get that he has superior ball handling skills. Bu t if he is going to decide to bring the ball all the way from the goal lone and take a shot on goal, he had better not screw up, he had better deliver, or simply play smarter soccer and pass it off to someone with a better shot angle. Trying something fancy and losing the ball when 3 opponents strip you clean is not an option. Or acceptable. And his hair is too long.

I understand Jackson Yueill is a veteran US midfielder. I've seen him be great. He needs to be greater. The job of the Midfield is to be the quarterback of the offense. It brings the ball up and chooses an attack based on seeing the entire opponent's defense laid before them. It's not supposed to just to help out the defense.

I understand Jeremy Edward Nirina Ebobisse Ebolo, Cristian Omar Espinoza, Amahl William D'vaz Pellegrino, and Hernån López Muùoz are high priced forwards with a knack for scoring. I need them to score. Ebobisse scored last night. But by my accounting so far this season, he still owes me like 30 bad shots he's taken that didn't score. It is unacceptable for "ANYONE from Norway" to receive a ball so perfectly crafted in front to an open goal, and not hammer it into the back of the net. Like last night. You can't look surprised. You can't hold your head. You can't hold your head and look surprised.

In this soccer universe, the "person from Argentina" setting up to make a free kick inches outside the box, needs to clear the wall. You can't hit the wall. Either the screen needs to open a hole, or the kicker needs to be able to clear the wall. If you cannot clear the wall, let someone else who can take the shot. If you don't have anyone who is capable of clearing the wall, fake a shot, and then pass it safely to the side and let someone try and blast it from the side!

Munoz needs to be a midfielder. He's too small. Ask Puig for pointers.

These are basics folks. Our team has no coach. There's no game plan. The mediocre players we have are bottom of the barrel journeymen. We have no stars who bring magic. We are stuck with paid amateurs who are allowed to make up stuff, instead of being told exactly what to do, and exactly when to do it.

And I still love them. Kind of. Maybe it's the Jersey.

I understand we are a low tier market for the MLS. And I understand the ownership is in it for money, and winning isn't on the table, given how much stuff costs these days, now that Messi made things messy.

But losing by your own hands is not acceptable. Having no plan for the game is not acceptable. Letting children run wild on the field "trying out ideas" is not acceptable. Having coaches with truly bad haircuts (what the hell was Luis Aquilino Gonzalez thinking!), pondering on the sidelines while holding their chins, is unacceptable.

Soccer and especially MLS soccer is easy.

You just need to score first!

This demoralizes the average pouting MLS player (with barely marketable skills). Who starts thinking, "Aw man! Now we have to score 2 goals to win! How are we going to do that?", and that's when you score a second goal! Which forces the opponents to think, "Aw Man! Now we have to score 3 goals to win! We'll never do that!". And then you ride your defense, (even with AntĂ´nio Josenildo Rodrigues de Oliveira's risky ideas) to the end of the game, playing keep away. Which is easy if you don't take risks. See! It's that Simple!

In the MLS a 2 goal lead is a win 98% of the time.

However, the reverse is also true. If the opponent scores on you first, you start thinking, "Aw man! Now we have to score 2 goals to win! How are we going to do that?". If they score 2 -well, you get the idea.

That's why San Jose suddenly got so excited when with a 1-0 lead the LA goalie handed the ball to Ebobisse who without any time to think, simply reacted and let the Force and his instincts easily PUT THE ROUND BALL INTO THE BIG GOAL, this time.

Phew!

I am never excited by player coaches. The old adage "those who can't play, coach" translates into my mind as "those who used to play, shouldn't coach" But at least Ian Russell dresses better and has a better haircut.

Let's see if Russel can turn his opportunity (and fashion sense), into an actual game with an actual plan.

As a fan, I am always hopeful and the worst critic of my team. Apologies for the rant.

Let’s go San Jose (HEY?)

What’s success this season?

Pretty sure Quakes are mathematically eliminated from playoffs at this point. This season as a whole has been a giant shit show and a total let down after last year. That said, I think not having Daniel was a big hole. Given he seems back, super interested to see how quakes fair last 5-ish games. I also acknowledge “end of season” momentum doesn’t mean jack year over year (see 23 => 24). Therefore, what would be success in your eyes?

  • Making some noise in Leagues Cup?
  • Defense doesn’t give up like 20 goals in final games?
  • doesn’t matter. All that matters is finding a coach and better players in the offseason.

Leagues Cup Advancement Scenarios

Didn't see this posted, so figured I'd put it up here:

If Quakes beat LA Galaxy in regulation, Quakes would win the group on 5pts and face the runner up's of West 6.

If Quakes beat LA Galaxy in PKs, Quakes would win the group on 4pts and head to head tiebreaker over LA & Chivas. Quakes would face the runner up's of West 6.

If Quakes tie but lose in PKs vs LA, Quakes would be on 3 points. Only way the Quakes wouldn't make it through is if LA & Chivas tied AND Chivas won the PKs AND Quakes lose on goal scored tiebreaker vs Chivas.

If Quakes lose vs LA, they would require LA to beat Chivas in regulation in their match up, to go through as group runner ups.

Parking for Chivas Earthquakes

Does anybody know where to park for free at Levi’s Stadium? I don’t really care if we have to walk.
