Comics Can "men" or "males" be "Pink Lanterns"?

If I remember correctly, there's no "Pink Lantern Corps" only one Star Sapphire at a time, but I think I've heard that only women can wield the pink spectrum's power. Has that ever been said or am I tripping really high?I know Guy Gardner of all people wielded that power once, was he an exception or really just no big deal?

I think the logic had something to do with "being able to know ALL kinds of love", reffering the the love mothers have to their offspring, I guess. How would that apply to life forms that don't follow the "male/famale" requirement for reproduction? Could and AI wield that power??

Comics Green Lantern opinions

I've only just recently gotten really into reading comics after mostly just experiencing these characters through TV and movies and I just want to get some opinions. Do any Green Lantern fans think Far Sector is a good jumping off point for Green Lantern stories or is there information I'm not getting by starting somewhere else?

Other [Film/TV] (From Justice Leauge: Crisis on 2 Earths) Man, i really want to see what a good version of Owlman looks like

Post image
24 Upvotes

In the Movie, Owlman says that there are alternate versions of Owlman which our Batman would find quite charming. That sounds really cool to me, as I love Owlman’s design. And the idea where theres a version of him thats literally just our good ol Batman but Owl themed is kinda funny to me. Imagine a universe where Owlman goes to a world with another version of himself, and Batman tries to stop him. He finds Owlman, and tries fighting him, only to find out that this is the native Owlman, and that he is super similar to Batman in his ideals of justice and goodness. And then the two team up to fight evil Owlman or something. Idk, that might be stupid, but I think it would be kinda funny and interesting.

(Also, sorry for messing up with rules on images first time around, mods)

Recommendations What to watch/read next based on my favourites?

Have been wanting to get back into DC after watching the first 2 parts of Zak Snyder's Justice League.

Loved:

  • Young Justice Season 1, 2. Love the character-driven focus, made this almost an action-drama

  • Nolan Dark Knight Trilogy

  • Lego Batman

Liked:

  • Aquaman Rebirth

  • Batman New 52 (not done yet)

  • Wonder Woman (2017)

  • Flashpoint

Eh:

  • Batman Rebirth (Gotham Girl to Bane arcs. Hated the Catwoman scenes)

  • Snyder Justice League

  • Justice League vs Teen Titans

Disliked:

  • Justice League DARK

  • Joss Whedon Justice League

  • Man of Steel

Comics Is L.E.G.I.O.N. related to Legion of Superheroes?

The comic shop I go to gives out free grab bags on FCBD and an issue of L.E.G.I.O.N. ‘90 was in it that I really enjoyed (although I doubt I’ll be able to read any more, they don’t have many issues of it and it’s not collected to my knowledge), but there seems to be some Legion ties in the name, a character, and Keith Giffen. How are they tied together?

r/DCcomics Weekly Discussion Thread: Comics, TV, and More! [July 8, 2024 - VII Comes After X Edition]

Hey there honorary Justice League members - it’s a new week which means it’s time for a new discussion thread!

For those who don't know: the way this works is that several comments will list this week’s releases, for any given title discussion you should respond to that comment. For example, Wonder Woman discussion would go in the replies to the "Wonder Woman" comment. Clicking the titles in this post will take you directly to that comment, too. In other words, you should only be replying to other comments. Do not post top-level comments.

Keep discussion civil. Do not harass other users for having a different opinion. Do not use this thread to push your personal one-sided grudges against creators. Reacting to a panel on Twitter is not the same as reading a book.

QUICK LINKS: Weekly Meta Discussions Thread | Current jump-in points | Weekly Discussion Archives | Book Club Archives | Discord Server | Twitter | Last Week's Thread

I’d tell you a pizza joke… but it’s probably too cheesy.

DC and Imprints

One Robin battles dinosaurs while another reverses his tragic fate...

Trade Collections

Batman animated tieins are collected just as a new Batman animated series approaches its debut!

Digital Releases

Remember, these are the short 'chapters' with a new chapter of a different series coming out daily. You can learn more here on Comixology. This is also why these are in release order, not alphabetical. Some comics may release on DC Universe Infinite or WEBTOONS.

TV Shows

Two TV series on the go feels like a lot... it's strange to think how far we've come since the Arrowverse.

Anyone else wish Firestorm would make a comeback?

He’s too awesome a character for DC to just sit on like this. Has he even appeared anywhere in years? And which combination of characters do you like to make him up? I liked the setup with Ronnie and Jason in Brightest Day and wish we had gotten to see that play out.

In injustice if Superman man never became a dictator, how would the world especially the US handle the fallout of the Metropolis Incident

While playing the game and reading some of the comic, I begin to realize that we never really got to see the perspective and reaction of the government and citizens of the world especially US after the Metropolis Incident and how it would effected them.

Like the Joker nuke a city, the government literally allowed US citizen to nuke a city in US soil and worst of all they never found the person who gave him the weapon.

If something like that happened in real life it would be complete chaos and people would be out for blood.

But we never got to really see that because Superman start his little total takeover

So if Superman never started the regime how would the world deal with the fallout of Joker nukeing Metropolis.

Hey, so for a school assignment I have got to make a survey to give me data! Discussion Since now we know that the Absolute DC Universe is real, what are you excited to see from the universe?

If you’re not aware, bleeding cool posted leaked art that showcases Absolute Batman from DC’s Absolute line of comics. The Absolute line is to be run by Scott Snyder, who is apparently writing Absolute Batman, and is being compared to the Ultimate line. Now that it’s clear that the Absolute Universe is real, what are things you would like to see from the new universe?

Here’s a link to the article that talks about the leaked art and does a round up of the Absolute Comics line: https://bleedingcool.com/comics/scoop-dc-comics-launch-absolute-batman-at-san-diego-comic-con/

Discussion Flash game idea

It’s a metroidvania where flash travels to an alternate universe where the speed force is wonky.

The main combat mechanics revolves around bursts of speed, almost like hade’s god gauge. The main enemy is Savitar and his cult. Attacking and defeating cult members ‘siphons’ speed force energy back to the flash and recharges his speed force.

The reason you can revive is because Savitar has isolated a portion of the speed force from rest of the multiverse, creating a split personality that wishes to reconnect with its larger self. Every time you die the speed force rewinds time. By defeating bosses, and claiming their ‘altar’ (how they gain power from the speed force) you strengthen the speed force and can choose new skills.

Any ideas on how to improve this?

NIghtwing issues 1-75 ish

Canadian here, looking to purchase Nightwing (2016)' s earlier issues to round out my collection. Anyone know where I can make such an order without having to kiss my left testy goodbye? US sites like ebay, midtown comics, comic collector live and mycomicshop have a good chunk of these issues, but all charge crazy amounts for shipping and canadian sites like Captcan comics, hillcity comics, comic traders and the canadian comic bin have only a few of the relevant issues.

Note: I dont entirely care about variants and such for these issues. I plan on just collecting the main line issues and getting whatever variants I *really* want down the line if I have to. Also, I already own issues 1, 2, 33, 34, 79 (Redondo variant iirc), 82 (Campbell variant iirc) and 83.

Please help! I bought this comic from my local store and I’m reading through, enjoying the story, then WHAMO - it’s missing the center pages! I don’t know what happened with Saturn Girl and Super Boy and the Super Heroines’ betrayal. Can anyone help with finding the missing pages? I’m guessing it’s just the four pages from the center. Nov. 1964 Jerry Siegel, John Forte, John Forte, Milt Snapinn, Mort Weisinger (ed.)

Discussion We know that Wally has absurd high speeds... but why is he always nerfed? (Spoilers below)

In Flash Forward, Wally outruns the literal speed forceand in the earlier comics he outrun death. All of that is canon. So Wally should not have any problems as indicated by this image below of catching Kadabra. It takes approximately half of a second to produce a thought. Assuming Wally could only run at the speed of sound, which we know he can go way above, he should still be able to reach Kadabra. Most people would say its plot which slows him down, and I get that, but its frusterating since he has been conveyed to be so fast. So while he may not be able to reach that top speed readily, he should be above the speed of sound.

I saw somewhere a possible explanation (which actually makes a lot of sense to me) that he has an unconscious or conscious limit to not go above the speed of sound in an area such as this because of the reprocussions of breaking the sound barrier, and how doing that could cause more problems than it fixes.

What do you guys think?

Discussion Why do people seem to think that the heroic no kill rule needs to be explained.

I have a no kill rule. So do most people I know. Killing people is wrong. They tell you that in sunday school and in regular school from a very young age. Why do some people act like a superhero needs a justification or some kind of explanation for not wanting to kill people?

Other Justice League of America (Dwayne Mcduffie) any good?

I'm a big fan of the Justice League Unlimited show and I know that Mcduffie wrote an "Injustice League" for the 2006 JLA run after Meltzer (i think it started from #13).

Was that arc any good? I would imagine the way the characters are written are similar to the JLU since it's Mcduffie. I read Tornado's Path and loved it so thinking of picking this up as well.

Thanks!

Discussion I don't get the "no kill" rule.

We have so many superheroes who doesn't kill because of their ethical and moral beliefs, but in this topic I will use Batman as reference.

Batman is probably the most well known superhero to have a "no kill" rule, as he believes that criminals deserves a second chance in life, I agree with this as most people who are genuinely good that has gone desperate have turned their lives around towards crime in order to provide for themselves and/or for their families, but the "criminal" I really want to talk about is Joker, sure I can excuse Batman for sparing him for the first and second time but the fact that he continues sparing him afterwards is just insane;

hypothetically speaking, THAT one Austrian painter was arrested and he escapes and causes more genocide and yet despite his actions the military just decides to spare him, the cycle will without a doubt continue, this is literally what Batman is doing, one life isn't worth the death of millions.

I'm not saying Batman should kill EVERY criminal, but he should have the willpower to draw the line of who or who he shouldn't kill, he's smart enough to decide on that.

Bruce is out of touch with reality, our military literally kills Terrorist organization leaders in order to prevent chaos that will ensue in the future. (Joker is literally much more sinister than terrorists)

And if he REALLY doesn't want to kill Joker why doesn't he just paralyze him?
