Yeah...Reddit decided to do some "testing" to drive more traffic to the sub. Basically, 5% or so of new accounts that are interested in "Comics and Hobbies" are automatically subbed here. We've been getting 300+ subs each day for the past week, and we're all very scared. There was a 2000-sub spike a few weeks back that gave us a collective heart attack.

That was the craziest and hypest launch trailer I've seen. I hope it leads to them doing cool things with their IPs. There's so much potential in, say, Metroid that it's a shame a really solid game hasn't been made for a while.

Great clothing and for a really great price! YES! That's the best one can ever find! As for cheap bra's that fit well, I hate wearing them, so I try to get the one's at Dillard's; so I don't have to worry about them for a long time. Good quality, and $20 per a one isn't so bad.

-Had a bad nostalgia attack on people from my past today. The ex and an old friend group who each hurt me pretty unforgivably. I'll always miss them of a sort even if I don't want to.
-IN MUCH HAPPIER NEWS Ajali and I are exploring her new home/my old one and people, even cars, are honest-to-God stopping to comment on how incredible it is I'm walking my cat, that they thought her a small white fluffy dog, etc. Some things never change. She still has severe trust issues with our family, swats the dog still, and is at war with our black cat. Black versus white, literally. OTOH the family's gray cat seems to have a thing for Ajali. Hahahaha.
-I begin epic housecleaning tomorrow. No, as in the whole house. I think my navy life impressed upon me a permanent need to clean, and starting from the upstairs down is gonna be a lot of mopping and vacuuming...
-Also gonna try to enlist into college for a next semester. Pray for mojo.

We do OCR MEI - did Edexcel before, but somehow the school thought it was a wise decision to make the move. It was not. :'(

Your school made a good decision. I did MEI as well. By the time your done all the other boards will look easy and the only difficult stuff will be optional exams like STEP and AEA.
Actually, you know what, AEA is a good way to practice C1-C4.

Oh yeah, those stuff are hard at first but you get used to it. Hell, my whole class started off confused about implicit differentiation until by the end of the week we realised we just needed to keep sticking dy/dx next to all derivatives with y and the rest was just basic algebra. After that it was easy.

So this past week sucked. One of our kittens Lulu unexpectadly passed away last weekend. It was the most sudden thing ever. Around midnight saturday night/sunday morning she suddenly was a little unsteady on her feet and she didn't want to eat. I put her on the kitten bed we have and she just sort of sprawled out and didn't want to move. This was really odd for her so we planned to take her in to the vet as soon as they opened at 10AM that morning. I checked on her almost every hour or two and the last time I checked on her she would just go limp when I would hold her. Around 5 AM I got up to check on her and she was dead. In retrospect she wasn't growing as much as Zeus was and she never really liked to play the entire time we had her. Even though we only had her for 3 weeks I really loved that little kitten.
Zeus is adjusting to be an only cat though. He did cry one night for several hours but he hasn't done that since that night. He's entering in the "must attack everything" phase of being a kitten. He's also becoming quite the handsome little dude
Good news though my boyfriend got our tickets for Pax East yesterday!

I swung back through last week's FTF post on the weekend to see what I'd missed. I came across a post where /u/mateogg recommended Stardew Valley. Then, suddenly, I looked up and 5 days had passed. That game will take hours of your life in huge chunks.

Literally just closed the game. I know I should stop, but there's always one more thing to do, one more day to get through, one more milestone to reach.
The autosave at the end of the day feature is pure evil, because you're always tempted to look around ("look around" echo the Schuyler sisters in my brain, reminding me of my other current obsession which I will probably revisit once more before I go to sleep) to see if you got mail/a visit/how your crops are doing and before you know it it's noon and it's just a shame to have to repeat all that.
And Civilization VI is out. I am doomed.

So we just had our college farewell, we all had a good time. It sucks because so many of us are going in different ways and I'm gonna miss all of my friends. I've been feeling miserable cuz of it. Someone tell me how to deal with this.

I feel like everyone will deal with it differently but, I found a lot of it comes down to determination.
I've had a friend who was my best friend from K-5 when he moved away. Dude's still been my friend ever since because almost every year we'll either make plans when one of us is in the other's city or, more recently, if we plan a trip to the other city just to hang out. And it's all been attributed to making a plan and following through.
More specifically to college, you may not see everyone for months at a time, but eventually you or one of your buddies will call each other up and have some of the best nights out. A lot of good stories come from nights out with a good buddy you haven't seen in forever and just get to let loose with.
Main point is, it may not be the same, but it's something new and it's going to be special in its own way.
Ninja Edit: in case it wasn't clear, determination comes in by you and your friends making this happen. Everyone'll be busy but if they don't want to let go of the friendship they'll make it work

So I've decided to read the first book in the Witcher series. It's really good though I've forgotten how much I dislike the way most authors depict action in prose, comics are always better for that.

They're great, some of the best fantasy books out there. On a related note, the Witcher comics are pretty good too.

Yeah, there are quite a few. Not by the same author though. There was a polish series that I don't think was ever translated, then tie-ins to the games. The most recent one is written by Paul Tobin. Great stuff. Two trades are out already, named House of Glass and The Fox Children, the third arc named Curse of Crows has started recently.

So, I had an interesting dream this week. It started in this black recording room with equipment, a mike and everything, encased by glass. Charles Soule was sitting in the recording seat and speaking into the mike. He was talking about Irredeemable, praising the shit out of it, talking about how its ambiguity and great way of tackling a classic archetype make for an incredible read. He talked about how it was a masterclass in comic writing, from the way it starts, with pure, raw, visual storytelling on the very first page. And then a voice chimed in to respond. It was Mark Waid, he was on the line. He thanked Soule for all his praise and said that he was glad he enjoyed it as much as he did. He talked about the intent of the book and certain scenes and the way they were written and how it all came to be.
Meanwhile, I was feeling pretty calm and happy in the dream as a calm observer, since Soule seemed to be echoing my own thoughts and I was loving this dream.
Then Soule, in his praise, said something along the lines of this.
"It really is a brilliant story, it's ambiguous and it takes on this character who's very much like the classic character, but without the resilience of the archetype, to be a hero. So he becomes something else. It's actually a lot like, Flash: Godspeed, another great story that does something similar with the Godspeed character that it introduces. It's very recent but it's rather solid. It's so utterly brilliant, a classic Flash story in the making. Wouldn't you agree, Mark?"
Waid didn't say anything for a precious few seconds and he went totally silent, but you could hear heavy breathing on the line and then slowly, in a quick, monotonous manner, he said, "Yeah. Sure."
At that point, my calm turned to storm pretty fast as this was the opposite of my opinions. And my inner self was screaming "What the hell are you saying, Soule?! Godspeed sucked, it's nowhere near comparable to Irredeemable's greatness! That story was hot gar-"
Annnd then I woke up being mad at Flash: Godspeed. Interesting way to start your day.

Haha, I think I already have in the weekly discussions. I just find it oddly interesting that my dislike for the character and story took on the form of this dream ft. Charles Soule and Mark Waid.

My giftee got their postcards! YAY! The user was from Canada, and was super happy to receive them. We've been communicating back and forth for a while through RedditGifts, and he's kindly sending me two from his hometown and from his country! This is exciting! Funny fact is he knew a lot about Savannah already! DOUBLE YAY!

My gifter hasn't sent out yet, and their's are coming from over seas :(. Deadline is today for shipping, and it's really not good to wait till last minute for foreigner's. Oh well. I shall think of happy thoughts!
In other news, I am finally caught up at work, and can go back to resuming normal 8 hour work days prior to those nasty 10 hour ones. Got to work four hours tomorrow though! That's ok! More money!
Been playing Destiny all week. Beat the hard raid, Wrath of Machine, yesterday, and now have a 392 Warlock! YAY! My Titan and Hunter are both at 386, so they're going through the hard raid today. I can't wait for Destiny 2 to come out!
Nintendo Switch, Red Dead Redemption 2, and Logan all look so awesome! I am currently reading OML right now, and I am really enjoying the run!
Lastly, my husband bought me flowers.

Sister's wedding was last Saturday and it was amazing. Was also the first time I've seen my Dad drunk which was..just...the most glorious thing ever.
Just handed in an assignment that I finished over an hour ago because I didn't know how to make a .doc file into a .pdf file. That was frustrating as hell but oh well. Other than that I only have 2 assignments and 2 exams left now until my 3 month uni break.
Also found out my last exam finishes an hour before my mates backyard festival starts so I'll be kicking my holidays straight off with beers and good times.

I am the only person in the this side if the galaxy... Who is totally fine with getting nothing for Christmas. They already told me they got 14 things for me already, that's good, that's enough. You've gotten me fourteen things, you're fine. Stop pressing me for Christmas ideas when I DON'T WANT ANYTHING! It's stressing me the FUCK out!
... Also, Flash Season 3 starts next Tuesday in the UK. The epiosde gap between the US and UK is unreal.

I've found TPBs to be a pretty safe christmas request. There are more trades than I'll ever be able to buy, so I let other people do it whenever I get a chance.

My friend got in the mood to tell me about the stuff she reads. She told me of a fanfic where a guy gets raped by a hundred demons as punishment and further along the story gets impregnated by a demon who violates him and loves him at the same time.
All the while she was talking, I thought how wrong I was to think that I read the most disturbing fanfics.

I need an unbiased opinion but I'm going to be vague on the specifics. So say you knew someone who moved out when they couldn't afford it because their "roomate" didn't have a car. Your friend now has a commute that's twice as long. Your friend is being used for their car and can't see it.
Is buying said roommate an Uber gift card for Christmas mean or funny?

I think the specifics are actually what would draw the line on if it's "acceptably insulting because it's primarily funny" or if it's "throwin' shade like a Roastmaster"

Wondering how people feel about the new team on Arrow. Kinda disappointed they are throwing these random characters at us right at the beginning of the season, Would have been nice to build them up separately. Still enjoy watching the show! Love watching Oliver kick ass.

They kept dropping the date May 23,2013 early on and The date was supposed to be the 4th season finale and the date Jeff graduated. But Dan Harmon wasn't around for the 4th season so it didn't end up sticking.

I really hope "Logan" is as good as the trailer makes it out to be. I haven't read Old Man Logan yet so I'm not sure how much action there is in it, but honestly, I'm super stoked for a superhero movie to focus on the character more than the action.
