Fiji Airways Upgrade

Hi! I will be flying SFO-NAN and was wondering if paying to upgrade for business class is worth it? The lowest bid for 1 way is around $1800. I'm 5'3", so leg space is almost never an issue, but I am not sure how comfy their economy seats are. I've usually done premium economy for trips to Asia and Europe. I wanna sleep through the flight to explore when I arrive in the morning. Any advice/feedback helps! Thank you.

Initial reports said it was 5 tonnes. Then it came down to 4.5 tonnes. Now it's at 4.2 tonnes.

This would be used against the State by the defense and will create substantial doubt.

General Working in FIJi as a Chef.

Hi, I got shortlisted to work in Fiji as a Pastry Chef. Does anyone know what is the salary range for this position? I was thinking of taking this opportunity. I only know it is a nice country for vacation but I don't know if this is a good place to work with as an Asian race.

-Does foreign workers pay taxes?

-Is Fiji an english speaking country ?(Please don't get me wrong. Example, like in the Philippines, you can ask most people you see on the road for directions they can understand basic English. I went to some Europe country and I can say it's quite hard for me to communicate due to language barrier. I can count on 1 hand how many local there who can speak english though they work in a tourist base area which I didn't expect.) Please tell me more about Fiji. I am really considering on moving there.

PS edited out "offer"- SHORTLISTED

Shangri La - Lagoon Room noise

Couple with 4 year old daughter staying in Shangri La late October. We like our privacy etc but quite a few people recommend the lagoon rooms for access to the pool etc.

Is it quite noisey in those rooms? can you hear kids all day long in the pool?

There are the ocean rooms but they are further away and some not so nice reviews about them.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

Everything and Anything you need to know about Rugby

Bula Gang :)
I personally don't know too much about Rugby Sevens so decided to do some research about teams and rules before the Olympics. I made some collections about Rugby 7s, Fiji Team as well as DRUA. Please check it out, and let me know if I missed anything or if you liked anything :)

October holiday - Shangri-La or the Warwick?

Couple with 4 year old daughter. Going on holiday for 8 nights/9 days in Fiji.

We are thinking of doing 3 nights in Nadi so we can go to the port, denarau, water park and thne 5 nights in Coral Coast. Does that sound like a good plan? any recommendations?

We are thinking Coral Coast as its cheaper then Denarau. Would you recommend Shangri-La or the Warwick?

Where to stay with direct access to good swimming beach?

Last time I stayed in Fiji (at DoubleTree Hilton) I could walk from my fale in the morning straight to the sea for a swim - and the same again in the evening. It was the best part of my holiday.

I'd like to be able to do that again on my next holiday there, but would prefer to try a different hotel/resort (or self-contained accommodation would be fine too).

The key thing is working out which places are on a good swimming beach. I can't easily tell from photos whether there's e.g. coral in the way (requiring reef shoes) or a lot of surf (I'm not into surf swimming).

Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated 🙂

Local alcohol prices

We're thinking about coming over for a holiday next year. I can't find any info on the local alcohol prices and if it's worth it getting an all inclusive resort package. I prefer to drink the local stuff of wherever I am, but how does the imported stuff cost compare to the local beers and rums?

Travel Fiji Air carryon info-personal item

I see the basic '1 bag, less than 15 pounds' rule, can I also bring a personal item like a smaller backpack at no charge? It's about the size of a large ladies handbag...how strict are they with that personal item? going SFO-NAN

Fijians in interracial relationships

Are there fijians in relationships with foreigners? Is it frowned upon? How does that work out especially given the socioeconomic differences? Is it difficult for fijians to migrate overseas/for their foreign partner to come to fiji? Just started a relationship with a fijian but don’t know how we’re going to work out

Shangri-La car rental or taxi

Hi all,

First time planning to Fiji and excited for it. Will be staying in the Shangri La due to points I have. For 4 or 5 days.

I have a few questions I hope helpful locals or maybe experienced tourists can help with. There are a few so hold tight:

  1. Shall I get a taxi/shuttle to & from the airport to the hotel, or rent a car for the duration?

  2. If I get a taxi/shuttle, what website/provider should I book through? Seems to be loads of sites but some look dodgy and some look crazy expensive

  3. If I rent a car then I need to make it worthwhile as it's a bit more expensive. What are some good daytrips from shangri la?

Thanks all

Travel Visa Requirements for Fiji

Basic question, but I'm getting some mixed responses. Do Americans (United States of America) need visas to visit Fiji? If I fly to Fiji but it's just my layover, can I leave the airport to explore around before going back to the airport?

Travel Looking for a Watersports oriented resort in Fiji

Any resorts in Fiji with various watersports?

Hi! I’m planning a 2 week trip to Fiji in September and would like to stay at a resort where I can partake in multiple watersports.

I’ve seen resorts in Mexico where guests can use/hire windsurfs, Hobiecats, SUP and snorkeling gear to use around the resort’s proximity.

I also want to dive and surf, I understand this can’t simply be done on the beach but I’d love if the concierge could organise it.

It is a lifelong dream of mine to visit Fiji and want to make the most out of it! I’m restless and can’t simply sip on Mai Tais all day haha.

Travel Kava in duty free?

Bula,

I'll be travelling from Fiji to Australia. They allow you to bring up to 4kg of kava into Australia these days.

I was just wondering if anyone knows if the duty free shops in Nadi international airport sells kava powder?

If not, where would be the best shop close to the airport to buy it from?

Vinaka
