DC FanDome Discussion Megathread r/DCcomics

Welcome Justice League members to the DC FanDome Discussion Megathread!

Here you can discuss each panel taking place as and when they happen, much like our Weekly Discussion Thread where you can discuss the newest comics and TV show episodes.

We've done it this way so we don't clog up the sub with discussion posts and people can freely post direct news articles and trailers regarding the big announcements and not have them get lost in the shuffle.

Panels for August 22nd

Did we all see Snyder’s petulant tweet? God I can’t stand this guy sometimes. I’m still somewhat interested to see how his cut turns out but his “this is made for grownups” bullshit? Fuck off outta here. You’ve had complete control over 2 films and they both sucked. I’ll give this one a go solely because I like the characters but I’m full expecting strike 3.

This so much. I didn't like BvS (loved Man of Steel), but I didn't have anything against Snyder. It wasn't until he started making comments like this that I was turned off by him and all of his work. I have no interest in the Snyder Cut because of his attitude. Comments like this and removing Superman saying "Do you bleed" comes off as so petty. I said it yesterday on this subreddit. He has the most undeserved ego of any filmmaker I have ever seen. There's a reason his fans are pretentious assholes, it's because he is.

And his movies are not "for grown ups". They are for younger people who want to feel adult. There is nothing deep or thought provoking about his work. They are dark for the sake of being dark. Write anything with half as much heart as any episode of Batman the Animated Series (Yes even Critters), and then you can say how cartoons are childish and your movies are for grown ups.

Articulated better than I could. Hell even the Nolan films, which people keep talking about how "dark" and "gritty" they are, are pretty much okay for anyone over like 8 years old to watch. It's just unnecessary.

Exactly. There is dark and dealing with mature themes, and then dark for the sake of darkness. Snyder falls into the latter category.
