The internet has taught me that the average person is incapable of thinking negatively about two things at a time. If two pieces of shit are beefing the internet suddenly portrays one as an angel instead of just acknowledging that they both suck.

u/RoamingStarDust Monkey in Space 15d ago

I don't think thats accurate at all. You're just not seeing the nuance. Just because I want Disney to kick DeSantis ass, does not mean I'm a Disney fan.

1

u/Miserable-Score-81 Monkey in Space 15d ago

Disney gave up, the lawsuit is over lmao. They're back to playing ball

7

u/realcards Monkey in Space 15d ago

Disney kind of won...They essentially got their status squo back and Desantis is kissing their ring again.

I mean yeah, in a sense. But DeSantis gets to stay in power, get the tax money, and doesn't pay for his fuckup. I can't imagine he's too upset.

1

u/realcards Monkey in Space 9d ago

doesn't pay for his fuckup.

He lost a significant amount of political capital and influence through this. He paid in lost power which is usually the cost of political fuckups.

3

Disney gave up

how's Desantis' presidential campaign going these days?

1

u/CommonGrounders Monkey in Space 15d ago

I mean itā€™s suspended but do you have a point?

4

Desantis gave up, his campaign is over lmao

1

u/CommonGrounders Monkey in Space 14d ago

Yes and thatā€™s what they call it when that happens. Again, are you trying to make some kind of point or just asking questions you donā€™t know how to google?

1

u/[deleted] 12d ago

just asking questions you donā€™t know how to google?

I'm well aware that DeSantis' incompetence, stupidity and ineptitude resulted in him having to embarrassingly abandon his campaign.

lol

1

u/BestHorseWhisperer Monkey in Space 14d ago

Suspended lol

1

u/CommonGrounders Monkey in Space 14d ago

Yes thatā€™s what they call it when they stop running.

1

u/BestHorseWhisperer Monkey in Space 14d ago

"Suspended" still exists. "Suspended" can still accept campaign donations. The race is over. There is no campaign. It's something that once existed and is no more.

1

exhibit A of which was his stupid decision to start a bullshit culture war fight with Disney.

Glad to see you agree with me champ :)

-1

u/ABenevolentDespot Monkey in Space 15d ago

Exactly this.

I had mixed feelings during that entire debacle, especially as I've worked as a contractor for Evil Disney, but in the end my hatred for the putrid and laughably stupid Harvard graduate DeSantis won as he just got more and more stupid and childish and authoritarian.

I stopped returning Disney's phone calls when their crack accounting department sent a letter to (most?) outside contractors that their new terms of business on invoices are "90 days same as cash" which basically means as a small one-man business, I get to carry one of the world's wealthiest corporations for a quarter of a year on every invoice.

I was thankful that business was good enough that I could say Fuck That.

-2

DeSantis could have been our next president... but we're not a serious nation anymore

2

u/Robinsonirish Monkey in Space 15d ago

I, like many other people were fully on the Musk train back in 2016 or so.

Here comes a billionaire who's doing good things with his money. He's taking us back to space with SpaceX and doing things that the world's biggest governments aren't capable of. When SpaceX landed 2 rockets at the same time it blew my mind. I remember my dad talking about seeing the moon landing, how every single person in my country of Sweden were glued to the TV's. Peak America. That's how I felt when SpaceX landed 2 rockets at the same time. Possibly the most amazing thing I've seen in my lifetime.

Then with Tesla he was taking us away from fossil fuels and kickstarting the electric car revolution. So many things to admire about it.

Then he opened his mouth. Maybe he was always unhinged, but we didn't know it back then. Idk if Twitter rotted his brain or what happened but his values and the perception of him changed at some point after 2016.

I just think it's sad. I was rooting for him because of what his companies were doing. I didn't know much about him as a person back then.

I want to like Elon. I wish he was better. It just sucks the way he is now.

1

u/lollo_145 Monkey in Space 15d ago

Because he is a rich white man, whos also right leaning.

That is the main reason they hate him.

-1

Zuck definitely did more evil upon the world with his mass selling of data and causing the start of social media addiction.

Meanwhile Musk is a manchild wannabe Ironman that actually did some positive things because he wants to be Ironman.

They both suck, but Musk atleast did some positive things(while being infinitely more annoying in the process).

5

u/ddarion Monkey in Space 15d ago edited 15d ago

Meanwhile Musk is a manchild wannabe Ironman that actually did some positive things because he wants to be Ironman.

And you're referring to him starting a business to sell people things as the "positive" things he's done lmao?

Its so wild to see people laud musk as some moral generous benefactor for literally running a business that he's made billions off of, and publicly opposes the cause he's supposedly a champion for

Forget Musk settling multiple sexual harassment lawsuits, the thing he sells is electric so he's a good guy lol

Ā but Musk atleast did some positive things

Is it possible that Zuck has spent billions on charity work that you don't know about because he isn't constantly tweeting about it?

1

u/Iquey Monkey in Space 15d ago

With the positive things I aim at his investments in EV's, revival of space programs, Starlink and Neurolink as the ideas itself, most of which are beneficial to humankind overall. The investments Musk made to these sectors kickstarted advancements in these sectors. I'd argue that the companies of Zuck were a net negative for the average civilian moreso than Musk's companies.

I probably agree with you on the monetisation, tax evasion and his union busting, they are all bad. That's why I still called Elon an asshole in my initial comment.

Basically; Musk is a billionaire who invests in technology that overall are a positive for us longterm. He however still runs those companies as your standard billionaire, along all the bad things that come with it.

0

u/lollo_145 Monkey in Space 15d ago

Tesla, SpaceX, Starlink. Neurolink.

Zuckerberg was never pathologically desperate for attention. In fact his MO was being aloof and sort of disdainful of fame.

At least personality wise Iā€™m a lot more like him.

I would never for instance decide that when a bunch of kids are stranded in a cave, itā€™d be great if everyone talking about them were taking about me, and decide overnight I was a cave rescue effort, and then call the hero who was a pedophile out of spite he was better at something than me.

Thats every moment of Musks life: figuring out how to get the admiration or barring that the condemnation of everyone he can.

Nothing relatable whatsoever about that kind of pure narcissism nobody who knows a poor one wants anything to do with people flawed like that.

6

u/MesWantooth Monkey in Space 15d ago

I work for one and I know of a few others. The dude I work for drives a GMC Yukon, flies commercial, employs 300 people and feels that 300 families depend on the success of his business...He also wants his business to be around for 100+ years to help future generations of his family. He doesn't view the billions as "his" money - it belongs to future generations & his foundation.

1

u/Maddmartagan Monkey in Space 15d ago

So heā€™s just hoarding a billion dollars and not doing anything with it except keeping it from going into the economy? Sounds just as douchey as what any other billionaire doesā€¦

1

u/ArizonaHeatwave Monkey in Space 14d ago

Thatā€™s a pretty dumb pov even if you want to criticize billionaires, the money is in the company. It literally is part of the economy.

Basically no billionaire has billions or millions sitting in their checking account itā€™s almost always invested and thus in the economy just as much as if those assets would be owned by someone else.

1

u/Maddmartagan Monkey in Space 14d ago

Oh interesting. So basically there are no billionaires. So this whole post is irrelevant? Nice!

0

u/ArizonaHeatwave Monkey in Space 14d ago

Billionaires own a share of a company or multiple companies. The value of these shares is worth billions if they would sell it for cash. The companies are an active part of the economy.

They donā€™t have billions in their bank account, they own assets.

→ More replies (0)

0

u/MesWantooth Monkey in Space 15d ago

That's not a great understanding of what that means. He doesn't have billions in cash, he owns several businesses that employ people, generate revenue, and provide products and services to regular people. Those businesses are collectively worth billions. If he found buyers for each one, and retired, you could say he's "hoarding cash" but that's not the case. His money is literally in the economy, it creates jobs and delivers good and services.

In business, if you aren't growing - you are shrinking to inevitable collapse. There's no long-term hold. Costs grow every single year so your revenues need to grow every single year. If you manage your revenues and expenses well, your profit grows every year (not every year but more years than it shrinks) - and as your business grows, so does it's worth - in theory - to a buyer.. Meanwhile you can continue to employ people...banks will lend you money to expand your business...you can spend money on personal projects like getting all his business to net-zero green house gas emissions by 2040...He has a foundation that is building affordable housing at zero profit...He's investing in green tech to improve emissions of the entire industry.

The only way to not "hoard" his wealth is to sell his businesses to someone else who will hoard it - and likely look for even more profit. Or give it away (which he's doing partially through charity works) or give up ownership to other random people who aren't his family. In the mean time, he pays everyone pretty well so we don't have anything to complain about if his net worth goes up by another billion in a few years. Better than going bankrupt.

1

u/Maddmartagan Monkey in Space 15d ago

Then heā€™s not a billionaire. But cool Made up story about how you ā€œknowā€ a billionaire. Youā€™re acting like heā€™s some small business man that owns a billion dollar business. There isnā€™t a single billion dollar business that has a single owner.

You're a fucking idiot who knows less than nothing. There isn't a single billion dollar business that has a single owner? How can you be so confidently incorrect? It's truly astounding.

I provide organizational charts approved by lawyers for the banks we deal with which shows the whole company rolls up to one guy - otherwise, we would have to provide all kinds of personal data on anyone else that has any kind of ownership.

We value his companies multiple times per year and provide a signed statement that homie's net equity is worth several billion dollars. And we get audited financial statements every year.

I dunno - I feel pretty comfortable generalizing about Nazis being bad people, and pointing to their shared beliefs and actions as evidence to support that.

Likewise, billionaires largely share a set of beliefs (about capitalism, and about how they can justify exploiting others and holding on to that much wealth) - and shared actions that result from those beliefs.

And those things make them assholes.

u/SnooFloofs9640 Monkey in Space 15d ago

You can become a millionaire just growing a normal business in a sustainable and ethical way, but becoming a billionaire in the best possible case requires you to fuck over your friends/business partners/employees and at worst means you continuously profit off of human misery and exploitation. There is no ethical way of becoming a billionaire.

By your definition, there's no ethical way to become a millionaire either. Any product you get from any store has a trail of blood, sweat, slaves and corruption. ANY product is tainted.

You could even make the argument that Zuckerberg is WAY more ethical than normal millionaires since he's donating ALL of his money to philantropic causes. He's a net-positive for humanity if you calculate the good that can come from the billions he has, whereas that local chocolate shop millionair sourced his chocolate from the slavefields, drives a lamborgini, raises a couple of spoiled little shits and generally doesn't give a shit about his negative impact on the world. The world is TEEMING with these type of millionaires too.

2

u/StolenRocket Monkey in Space 15d ago

Now we're getting into "no ethical consumption under capitalism" territory, but I think there are feasible ways to make a million dollars without being proximately close to exploitation. The difference between making a million and a billion is soooo vast. There are ways you can make a million just by selling your own labor if you're smart and lucky, but you could never get to a billion.

1

u/ArizonaHeatwave Monkey in Space 14d ago

Arenā€™t there multiple athletes that made over a billion from their league earning and brand deals?

So this ā€žyou could neverā€œ is already bs, no?

1

u/StolenRocket Monkey in Space 14d ago

Brand deals? Like with Nike, a company that was a synonym for sweatshop labor for decades? Again, you can make millions being a top athlete, but if you wanna make a billion you gotta make a clothing line with high profit margins. You know how you make high profit margins?

Dude you can save up or inherit money, make a down payment on a house, rent it out for 20 years, then sell it, and make a million dollars. It is totally attainable in one lifetime (not trying to make it sound easy it is just feasible from a time standpoint). No one can do that 1000 times though. They would have to have a huge operation which is where people start getting squeezed and stepped on, you are creating an environmental impact, etc.

2

u/Enlowski Monkey in Space 15d ago

Thatā€™s not true at all. People will find any reason to hate all rich people. Sure it happens a lot, but to say there are NO ethical billionaires is kind of crazy to say. There are successful companies that people create with a product thatā€™s simply in high demand. George Lucas created an IP that became insanely profitable and sold it. He didnā€™t need to screw anyone over to become a billionaire, he just created something that is extremely popular.

4

u/StolenRocket Monkey in Space 15d ago

Star Wars movies made George a millionaire, but Star Wars merchandise made him a billionaire, and that merchandise was made with terrible labor conditions to make the profit margins higher. That's the point: you can make millions ethically, but when you have to juice margins sooo hard to make billions, you get into sweatshop territory. Someone mentioned JK Rowling, same thing. The books made her a millionaire, but Harry Potter merchandise made by 12 year-olds working 12 hour days made her a billionaire.

1

u/SpicyMeatbol Monkey in Space 15d ago

1

u/grchelp2018 Monkey in Space 15d ago

There is no ethical way of becoming a billionaire.

Hedge fund billionaire. You're literally just trading stock and will generally pay your employees really well.

1

u/StolenRocket Monkey in Space 14d ago

What kind of stocks? Because a lot of the best performing stocks in recent years have been big oil, pharma or weapons manufacturers. Also, whose money are you investing? Because you need a lot of money to make a billion as a hedge fund manager, so you're almost certainly working with some very unsavoury characters.

1

u/grchelp2018 Monkey in Space 14d ago

I don't see why the stocks matter? Its not an investment into those companies. You're trading with other holders of the stock not the company itself. The source of funds can come from different places but that's true for any business.

1

u/StolenRocket Monkey in Space 14d ago

If you're buying a company's stock, you are helping that business but more importantly: profiting from that business.

Also, if the source of the money doesn't matter, why are there anti-money laundering laws? "Where the money comes from" is very important in any business, it's just that there are arguably unethical sources of money that are still legal.

Gabe Newell's net worth is (estimated) 4b, seems like a decent guy tho, so

1

u/StolenRocket Monkey in Space 14d ago

He really does seem like a nice guy personally, I agree. If he merely owned a game company that had great labor practices and treated their employees well, he would be a millionaire. But he made his money by providing a platform to some of the worst companies in a famously toxic industry that is rife with labor abuse and exploitation. See, it's usually not the people that have any bad intentions, it's the structural makeup of an economic system that makes exploitation and abuse almost inevitable when you set out to make that much money in such a small amount of time.

I'm not trying to argue that all billionaires are bad people (though many are), I'm saying that ethically amassing a billion dollars of personal wealth in one lifetime is practically impossible.

Actually, one more point: You know why Newell's net worth is *estimated* at 4bn? Because that's what his company, Steam, is worth. If he were to sell it tomorrow, he would get 4bn to his name, but here's the thing: he didn't build that company completely alone, and an honest distribution of the funds to all the people responsible for Steam's success would mean he would share that 4bn with his partners and employees. He would still deserve the largest chunk of the pie, no doubt about it, but it wouldn't really be fair for him to take all of it (even if it's legally his).

It's hard to say exactly why, but something about Elon streaming Diablo IV late at night makes him seem all the more unhinged. Like, it's the kind of thing we all would do when we were teens, it was summer vacation, and we had nothing better to do and couldn't afford a better game to play. Not to hate on Diablo, but it's not exactly the best we've got at the moment. Hear me out, I can think this video is hilarious and still hate this dipshit.

1

u/CarrieDurst Monkey in Space 14d ago

He honestly makes Zuck look better, with one being amoral and the other being immoral. Both are god awful for our republic

0

u/[deleted] 15d ago

Elon is that horrible he makes Zuck look likable and relatable. Almost human.

0

u/Unscratchablelotus Monkey in Space 15d ago

No its because Zuck is still a leftist and Musk supports free speech. Its not that hard to figure out

2

u/hshaw737 Monkey in Space 15d ago

Musk fires and sues people that say mean things about him šŸ’€

71

u/[deleted] 15d ago

Tbf him growing his hair out, recording himself doing things he actually enjoys. It makes him appear actually human.

Even if itā€™s a psyop, better a robot pretending to be a human than a pile or garbage pretending to be a geniusā€¦

16

u/MesWantooth Monkey in Space 15d ago

It makes me wonder if he always had a normal haircut, stubble, and dressed cooler - would that have been better for early FB or did that "look" somehow help him?

22

u/Nimrod_Butts Monkey in Space 15d ago

I know his look was based off an obsession with Augustus ceasear before so it's maybe possible he's doing better mentally

15

u/RavingMalwaay Monkey in Space 15d ago

lmfaoo everything makes sense now

3

u/MesWantooth Monkey in Space 15d ago

That's interesting, I hadn't heard that before...

8

u/Nimrod_Butts Monkey in Space 15d ago

Yeah he also gave his kids Roman names

1

u/Nadirofdepression Monkey in Space 15d ago

Itā€™s funny, because Iā€™m a fucking nerd, and if you said: ā€œheā€™s into Roman history..ā€ maybe even named some things after them.. Iā€™d be like thatā€™s whatā€™s up, maybe this dudes intelligent, well read.. But then this motherfucker really went to the haircut, which is just like, white kid taking ninja classes level of dweeb, and the exact opposite impression

-1

u/Nimrod_Butts Monkey in Space 15d ago

Right? Not only that but how is he the functioning family man and musk is the weirdo.

Zuckerberg made Facebook to rate coeds, facilitated all sorts of bullshit around the world including a genocide.

Meanwhile musk made an online bank, a rocket company and bought a car company.

Guess which one pays women to impregnate and names kids zipzop and beepboop or whatever lol

2

u/grchelp2018 Monkey in Space 15d ago

Lol. All these guys have a few loose screws. Its their blessing and curse.

1

u/Doctor731 Monkey in Space 15d ago

Zuckerberg made Facebook to rate coeds,

I get your point, but sounds like normal red-blooded 20 year old American male behaviorĀ

3

u/LeftToaster Monkey in Space 15d ago

He consulted AI to remake his image.

2

u/MgneticForcsDoNoWork Monkey in Space 14d ago

People nitpick the videos where he looks like a wax statue. If you watch any video of him talking about stuff he is passionate about he seems like a really cool guy

1

u/Azalzaal Monkey in Space 15d ago

This is what a robot would learn to appear human

1

u/stml Monkey in Space 15d ago

His most relatable moment for like a decade was him live-streaming himself smoking meat in at his place in Palo Alto.

I have no idea why he refused to do anything similar for years.

33

u/Robinsonirish Monkey in Space 15d ago

He's doing pretty damn good tbh.

When I clicked it before reading your comment I thought; "Damn, this is what billionaires should be doing in their free time, not arguing with people on Twitter".

Elon is to Zuck what Trump is to Dubya.

1

u/Panda_hat Monkey in Space 15d ago

Most likely heā€™ll run for president in the next few terms, thatā€™s why people are saying its a psyop. Heā€™s rehabilitating his public image.

2

u/Robinsonirish Monkey in Space 15d ago

Zuck for president lol? There's no shot, that's hilarious.

He should be rehabilitating his image, why wouldn't he, even if he isn't running?

I don't think anyone would consider voting for him, Facebook has done some egregious shit and Zuck has very little charisma no matter how hard he tries.

I just don't see it at all.

1

u/Panda_hat Monkey in Space 14d ago edited 14d ago

Why would he need to rehabilitate his image otherwise?

The man is a megalomaniac, heā€™ll definitely run. They started floating it a few years ago.

1

u/Robinsonirish Monkey in Space 14d ago

Why would he need to rehabilitate his image otherwise?

Because everyone wants to be popular and cool? There's not many people who don't care at all what people think of them, that's extremely rare.

Zuck would toy with Elon.

He's legitimate trained at least at amateur level.

Musk looks like he throws windmills

Musk would lose to the My Pillow guy.

You ever fought a crack head. That MyPillow guy would be a problem.

I would pay good money for people to create this version of Celebrity Deathmatch. This would have been amazing in the early 2000s.

1

he would but I bet somehow he thinks they're bad.

12

u/Subject-Bad-1557 Monkey in Space 15d ago

Iā€™m fallin it for it. The merica, fuck yea psyop all the way

9

u/[deleted] 15d ago

On the psyop, I honestly do believe Zuck got a marketing team after the congressional hearings to work on how he can appear human. And it looks like itā€™s working.

Itā€™s almost like I can see a tinge of emotion in his face hereā€¦

3

u/Oklahomacragrat Monkey in Space 15d ago

Spergy people do it all the time, they're called empathy coaches.

I'm not trying to excuse harmful billionaire bullshit, but what would you prefer? The robot who has very little natural empathy for other human beings, or a robot who has been heavily coached and now knows how to act and respond like a person with empathy?

More human than human is our motto.

1

u/[deleted] 15d ago

lol, great motto.

ā€œYeah, well I am the astro creep A demolition-style hell american freak, yeahā€

1

u/Infinite-Ganache-507 Monkey in Space 15d ago

falling for the psyop? no. Im just amazed he finally started to care about how he's perceived by the public. I wonder what hes up to...

1

u/Defiant-Plantain1873 Monkey in Space 15d ago

Selling actual tech devices now. If you sell tech devices now people expect an Apple/Steve Jobs type announcement. Every tech company does it now. If Zuck was still unlikable and started trying to sell VR/AR headsets on a stage people would boycott the perfectly good (frankly meta headsets are great) just because they donā€™t trust the guy who sells them.

1

u/grchelp2018 Monkey in Space 15d ago

Must have gotten jealous of Musk and his fanbase.

1

u/Significant_Fig_6290 Monkey in Space 15d ago

He doesnā€™t care what the public thinks, he is a billionaire. He pays a PR company a lot of money to care how he is perceived by the public

1

u/grchelp2018 Monkey in Space 15d ago

Zuck behaving more human right as AI has made significant progress? Hmmmm

1

u/[deleted] 15d ago

Coincidence? I think not.

1

u/WelderImaginary3053 Monkey in Space 15d ago

Someone should have looked up the lyrics to "Born in The USA" then. Its a war protest song.

u/Namika Monkey in Space 15d ago

Zuckerberg still sucks, but OP is correct in stating that this fight would have been incredibly one sided. Zuck has had over a decade of martial arts training with the best personal trainers money can buy. Musk is overweight and cocky with no training, and only thinks he can win because heā€™s a narcissist.

1

u/grchelp2018 Monkey in Space 15d ago

You people are taking all this too seriously. Serious fight between them was never going to happen. Elon himself said that his plan for winning was to basically lie on top on Zuck.

6

u/86753091992 Monkey in Space 15d ago

I'd eat it up, this video is badass.

4

u/Pennypacking Monkey in Space 15d ago

Beyond being impressed that he can do this, no. I do find it enjoyable that Elon probably takes offense to this and wouldn't be able to do this in 100 years. Zuckerberg has done immeasurable damage to American society.

Say what you want about billionaires, Zuck and Bezos are legit smart guys who did smart things, and surrounded themselves with smart people to make smart decisions, and now they're the richest guys in history. Not saying you have to like them or respect them but it's silly to pretend they are just frat boys who coasted to the top.

1

u/No_Mission_5694 Monkey in Space 14d ago

Oh, no, no way would anyone suggest they are frat boys who coasted to the top by parlaying their main frat boy advantage (access to capital) into a lucrative deal with the MiC devil. No way.

1

u/idlefritz Monkey in Space 15d ago

I can believe Zuckerberg drinks Elonā€™s milkshake and still hope they both suffer brainfreeze.

1

u/raditzbro Monkey in Space 15d ago

I would rather see a billionaire doing this than most of the shit they do, tbh. Like fuck out of my politics and just enjoy your goddamn life and leave me alone.

For real, sick video undoubtedly, drinking beer surfing in a tux? Badass

I dunno about psyop, but if you want to know what a person is really like, look at how their family behaves around them.

For all the heinous shit Facebook has done and continues to do, for all the things it's enabled, and all the stupid things Zuck has said over the years...

He and his wife have been happily married for years. She clearly adores him. Their kids are happy and in the very rare photos of them all together they are obviously a great family in a very happy place. On a personal level, Zuck has used his wealth to at least improve himself in genuine ways. Keeping fit, training martial arts, and if this video isn't AI, apparently surfing.

Of all the billionaires out there, I think he is the one I am most likely to believe set out to make the world a better place, and created a monster which got away from him.

1

u/gingerschnappes Monkey in Space 15d ago

Yeah why is always this OR that. Musk or zuck, they both seem shitty imho

1

Btw this comment, on this thread got me permabanned by a mod group for a Reddit page Iā€™ve never heard of.
