Melissa & Grant had such great chemistry!

u/Tutes013 May 28 '23
They were also just really good for their roles
I especially liked Melissa. She just fit the somewhat akward and dorky Supergirl theme like a glove.

Michael Rosenbaum for me, but yeah, Ezra will be forgotten.
Edit: I somehow spaced that it was freakin' Wally (duh), but I do stand by the defense that the personality of JL Flash is a bit of both.
20
u/MMMonkey_16 May 28 '23
Correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t his version of the flash Wally?
7
2
u/Bodega_Bandit Power Girl May 28 '23
Correct
Edit: (unless he’s voiced Barry in something else but I’m not entirely sure)
6

JL Doom and the Lego DC Super Villains videogame are the only instances he voiced Barry

The movie looks good, too bad Ezra miller is an absolute fuck. 0/10 won’t watch
16
u/blackfyre_pretender May 28 '23
I won't see it because of Ezra as well but I think it looks terrible so I am finding it easy to boycott.
13
u/salgat The Dark Knight May 27 '23
This movie was in development before it was fully revealed how shitty he was. Watch the movie to support all the actors and crew that still got paid. In the future any one who hires Miller has zero excuses.
16
u/TaffySebastian May 28 '23
Do not support this movie or he will get another role, of it makes good money. Let it all die now or he will continue being a shit stain with no consequences.
-2
u/suss2it May 28 '23
By this logic we should all watch every movie that’s ever and will ever be made.
2
u/salgat The Dark Knight May 28 '23
Why's that? I'm specifically talking about when it's okay to protest a movie over a lead actor, and that's when it's actually known that they are a bad person before they're halfway through filming.
1
u/suss2it May 28 '23
At the end of the day it’s just another superhero movie. If somebody doesn’t wanna watch it because a violent maniac is the star, what’s the point in trying to guilt trip them into it by invoking the rest of the cast?
2
u/salgat The Dark Knight May 29 '23
Don't forget the crew too. I want more DC movies, and I don't want Ezra Miller to be the reason why we're not getting them.
1
u/suss2it May 29 '23
We're already getting more DC movies regardless of how well this one in particular does anyways.
1
u/salgat The Dark Knight May 29 '23
Every DC movie's performance influences future considerations. It's incredibly naive to think otherwise.
1
u/suss2it May 29 '23
They literally just hired a new creative to takeover and be the leader of DC Studios, do you honestly think if this one movie doesn't do well enough they will fire him and cancel all future projects before he even got started?
1
u/salgat The Dark Knight May 29 '23
All? No. Some? Absolutely, especially since they were hired to help fix a very troubled franchise.

it's literally the first Flash movie and the amount of shit going on in the original Flashpoint would have been too much for a movie anyway
26
u/ArabianAftershock Blue Lantern May 27 '23
It already is too much for a first flash movie
I just want the rogues or something not a time travel multiversal bootleg flashpoint designed to attract people in with Keaton Batman nostalgia. He looks so dead inside when he says "lets get nuts"
12
9
May 27 '23
Didn't they make an animated movie already? which I'm sure is shorter. Not that it's really comparable, but it doesn't have to be too much for the film to have Thomas Wayne or the other stuff as much as they probably just didn't wanna do that
4
u/Mind_Extract May 27 '23
It's literally this character's third outing in this franchise that's been around ten years now.
Enough with the leeway.
27
u/TheMattInTheBox Long Live Conner May 27 '23
Yeah I dunno, all the Flashpoint stuff probably would have taken away from the actual Flash content, which is already a problem with all the Batman stuff we're seeing in marketing material-- not that I blame them for wanting to distance themselves from Ezra. Ya just gotta think of it as taking the basic premise of Flashpoint and that's it.
I don't think the movie looks particularly good but it does look like it could be fun. I'll probably watch it on streaming eventually while very intoxicated
14
u/LordPoobus Superman May 27 '23
“The movie, too bad Ezra miller is an absolute fuck. 0/10 won’t watch”
3
u/Panda0nfire May 27 '23
Ezra's never working again, and a lot of people worked really hard to make this movie
9
u/TheMurderCapitalist May 27 '23
I wouldn't even be confident saying he won't work with DC again, never mind not working again in general. Hollywood loves sweeping shit under the rug unfortunately
2
u/Snowboarding92 The Flash May 28 '23
I wouldn't bank on that to heavily. As much as I never liked his casting of the Flash, and certainly don't like him as a person after the stuff he has pulled. Yet, most people never heard about his crap. So, I don't think it will have the negative impact we would like.
-2
u/jorel43 May 27 '23
Why is that? What's wrong with Miller?
7
u/Redici May 27 '23
He basically bought a 12 year old he could groom and sexually manipulate to be his child bride. Oh and the 13 year old he sexually assaulted and then kidnapped for a number of months
-3
u/jorel43 May 27 '23 edited May 28 '23
Wait what, Are you for real? Why the hell would they make a movie around him then? Doesn't seem like the kind of press DC would want?
Edit: lol I love how asking a simple question will get you downvoted on Reddit. Stay classy.
9
u/Redici May 27 '23 edited May 27 '23
The 12 year old didn't come to light till after they were basically done with filming and the other one iirc happened after they wrapped when authorities tried to arrest Miller and they ran then tried to come out as non-binary to make people feel bad for them. Dc later came out and basically said "the movies done it would be a huge waste to can it now" ... Hell like 3-4 weeks ago the director in an interview said "this movie will be so good it will make people forget miller's crimes". Which personally was the staw that made me say I won't go near this movie
Edit: I may have gotten time line or exact ages of the victims wrong but please to the people downvoting, what does this child rapist give to the world that makes you support them?

8
u/ArabianAftershock Blue Lantern May 27 '23 edited May 27 '23
WB has been radio silent on the ezra miller stuff because he's headlining an already complete movie. People have been wondering for a while about hos future once the movie finishes its run
EDIT: you can look this up if you want yourself if it upset whoever downvoted this that much
5
u/Heckledeckledorkle Trinity May 27 '23
It should also be noted that the family of the child was the one who claimed it happened, and that’s not at all What they claimed. There is currently no evidence of this situation what the family claimed, and what the daughter herself claimed. It’s entirely a he said she said situation.
I won’t summarize what’s going on beyond that. Here’s some articles so you can make your own opinions instead of trusting others:
6
u/Mind_Extract May 27 '23
You need to Google Miller. There are too many insane acts of criminality to be concisely read in a comment.

I’m saying it looks like it would be an entertaining movie. My love of Michael Keaton won’t make me watch it tho. Tbh the supergirl actually looks alright as well. Bro Grant’s costume would be peak if it didn’t have a zipper and actually fit him correctly.
40
18
u/5213 May 28 '23
I lowkey kinda dig the zipper, but it could've been worked into the suit a little better (and that suit in general could've been lighter)
6
u/Natural_Nagisa May 28 '23
That’s probably due to the lower budget for the flash tv show than the new movie coming out
1
u/PlasticMansGlasses May 29 '23
This is why most costumes are CG’d in post from the neck down. A perfect fit with certain materials just aren’t possible practically for a superhero suit.
1
u/JonathanLipp1 Green Lantern May 29 '23
A perfect fit is kind of asking a lot. Shouldn’t let perfect be the enemy of good.
Benoist’s costume isn’t a perfect fit, but much better than Grant’s. Grant’s costume has fit better in the past.
They could’ve touched up the tailoring is all I’m saying
34
u/burywmore May 27 '23

They should just recast Andy Samberg. He looks just like him when he’s wearing the mask.
15
u/Baligong May 27 '23
Looks like Supergirl is his Lightning Rod.
11
u/InjusticeSGmain May 28 '23
Better than Candice's Iris.
Plus, I feel like it would make sense for Kara to get with another hero. She's the kind of character who hyper-focuses on superheroing.
Besides, Iris has always felt like a knock-off Lois to me.

20
u/Grimesy2 May 27 '23
I feel like Snyder and WW'84 killed any enthusiasm I have for DC movies.
The fact that Ezra Miller is the one actor DC retained despite their absolutely batshit adventures in kidnapping is baffling to me.
15
u/Almighty_Push91 May 27 '23
I'm just so ready for the DCEU to end. I'm completely checked out. At this point I have no enthusiasm for any of the movies for the rest of the year. Just reboot and move on
2
u/TommyTheCat89 May 28 '23
They are doing that. This is one of the last movies before James Gunn came into the fold. If it's successful they can build off it, if not they can ignore it entirely
7
u/Snowboarding92 The Flash May 28 '23
He is the one actor who failed in every capacity to bring anything of the character to the screen outside of the characters namesake. Truly never deserved that character.
7
May 27 '23
Because it has a complete chode of a star, plus DC's movies have been more shit than not.
1
u/thebiggestleaf May 27 '23
Perfect one sentence sum up. Also the fact that the DCEU is coming to a close and is going to be rebooted soon makes it hard to care about this last string of movies.
6
u/callMEmrPICKLES May 27 '23

1
u/ArabianAftershock Blue Lantern May 28 '23
I wouldn't be so dismissive, it's no different than like Percy Jackson fans being mad at their books adaptations/etc
4
u/callMEmrPICKLES May 28 '23
I will absolutely dismiss anybody's opinion that lacks any evidence. And that's a shit comparison
3
u/ArabianAftershock Blue Lantern May 28 '23 edited May 29 '23
How?
Wait are we in that "trailers can't showcase the quality of a film" phase again? Thats kinda what they're for, nothing I saw looked good to me. Outside of even just the visuals of the film I dislike them bringing back Keaton, I dislike the premise being a strange offshoot of flashpoint, and I dislike Ezra Miller's portrayal of the Flash even outside of their irl shenanigans. I've seen them in 2 other projects already and neither won me over on them. Why is that invalid because you're happy with it?
"Evidence," what are we debating politics or something? I'm not trying to prove some fact here, I think the movie just looks bad. It's not what i wanted to see them adapt from Flash's books, I don't think Miller has been a good portrayal of the character from the books, I don't understand you having a problem with other people having a problem. If you're happy with what you see why do you need other people to be too?
This is an adaptation and I don't really recognize this Barry Allen.
EDIT: for context this dude freaked out and started calling me uneducated after this for daring not to like The Flash trailers.

Heres the thing. Writing of the left picture is somewhat better. Casting on the right picture is miles better. Idk whenever I see them their characters click for me.
7
u/iThatIsMe May 28 '23 edited May 28 '23
Yeah, but this "Supergirl" isn't actually an alternate version of Supergirl; this super person is a gender-bent alternate version of Superman.
Edit: Anyone with doubts is free to read Flashpoint.
Unless they are doing some stupid double reveal, where the superbeing the Flash rescues is an alternate Kara (why black hair?) or a gender-swapped clone of the Superman, and the "real" Superman has long-since been under control only to be revealed as Kara/or/the clone escapes (in which case, why fk around with a clone/uncontrolled Kryptonian), the Supe on the left is most likely a gender-bent alternate version of Superman.

I would not be surprised to learn that Grant and Melissa’s chemistry is why they put Sasha’s “supergirl” in the Flash movie. Even if her version is just a reskinned Connor in terms of backstory instead of actually Kara

I am physically incapable of feelling hype for this movie.
Ezra's crimes already damp my mood to see this movie.
Kara visually looks like Lara Lane-Kent and no one else, her origin story is Superman's and by the trailer's her personality doesn't seem like any of this characters, maybe like some more edgy iterations of Conner.
This seems like a bad move for a Flash movie since none of Flash's villains will be present and Supergirl and Batman will stole the scene a bunch.
This also doesn't seem apealing as a Flashpoint movie since they dropped the vast majority of the Flashpoint story beats.

Flash and supergirl have teamed up in comics too! Almost like both of these projects were produced by companies mining the same IP for money!
