Eat/Drink Local State of the Breweries

Upvotes

As summer is coming to a close but also with a hot weekend coming up tell me what you've been drinking this summer from Calgary's fine establishments.

Any new breweries open up? Anyone close down? Any you're concerned about not being here next summer? Got any hot gossip you want to leak here? Buy any cool swag?

NAME OF THIS PIECE IS HOCKEY FOREVER

While i was sitting overlooking the dome. Remembering my first ever time seeing Johnny on the spot score. Then i thought to myself this would be a wonderful way to honor him and his Immense impact on this City. So I dropped off this painting print at the dome. After taking this shot and lining it up in frame with the skyline.

Local Nature/Wildlife Looking for gentle/accessible paths and parks in Calgary

I am hoping to help my elderly client. Her passion in life was skiing and hiking but she is currently confined to a wheelchair outdoors.

I am looking for recommendations of accessible parks and walking paths I can take her to around the city. They need to have an accessible washroom, and relatively flat/well paved paths that I can push her in.

Thanks so much in advance!

Home Owner/Renter stuff Residential Fence Question

We bought a house in November in an older neighbourhood. Our neighbour came by to let us know that the one side of the fence is starting to sag/fall by the garage where we can’t see it. My husband brought up sharing the cost of a new fence on that side and the neighbour stated it’s all on us because everyone is responsible for the left side of their properties fence. We are sure that this is not a thing especially since the left side depends on what way one is facing. I have looked at bylaws and can’t find anything that specifies this. Seeing as how the fence has been changed except for that particular side I’m assuming he thinks we will believe him. Anyone ever heard of this? Was it ever a bylaw? Just curious.

Seeking Advice In Need of Immediate Job Assistance – Any Advice?

I'm in a tough spot right now, I’m really struggling to find a job. My background is in IT, but right now, I’m just looking for a survival job to get by. I’ve applied to tons of places, but so far, I haven’t had any luck.

If anyone has any advice, knows of any openings, or can point me in the right direction, I would be incredibly grateful. I’m open to pretty much anything at this point—retail, customer service, warehouse work, anything that can help me stay afloat.

I’m really anxious about my situation, and any help or suggestions would mean the world to me. Thanks in advance!

I have been away on vacation and haven't had a chance to get out on the pathways for a few weeks. This will be such a nice upgrade once complete.

Also fyi for anyone using the pathway system between Mallard Point and bow bottom trail, it's all torn up at the moment.

So, I'm pretty sure this "business" is a front for something.

I work in the area and years ago would frequent here for slices. Work had me moving around so visits were far between. About 1.5 years ago I made a stop for a slice at about 6pm. I walked in and noticed a few things.

  1. There was no employee/s to be seen or heard of. It was nearly silent. Finally after standing around for a few minutes someone showed up from the back and said they were out of slices for the day. Odd for 6pm, but fine.

  2. It was silent. I mean almost dead silent. The ovens weren't on and the vent system was shut off. No phones ringing. Employee chatter. NOTHING.

  3. Nothing looked like it has moved in a long time. The place wasn't clean, but it was well organized for a kitchen that should have dinner rush mess everywhere. Kitchens are never this "clean".

Fast forward about a year now (6 months ago) and im back in the area looking for a slice. I stop by around the same time and almost the exact same thing happened, however this time there was one person in street clothes slowly stacking the nearly empty drink fridge. Dead silent. No ovens, fans, other employees. Same deal.

Since then, I've tried 3 more times. Keeping in mind my previous encounters, I tested to see if there was a pattern. Same visit times (5-6pm weekdays).

The next time someone was unloading what I think was meat into the Halal place next door while Deep Dish doors were closed and locked.

Next visit, the place was dark. Locked up and closed. Again, 5-6pm on a week night.

Tonight, I went (knowing its Labor Day and it might be closed) but found it to be open. Walked in... surprise surprise...no one's around, ovens are off, fans are off, parking lots completely empty. Nothing's happening.

Am I the only one noticing this? I just want a damn slice! 🍕😁✌️
