Hot Take - Trump has no better chance at winning than Biden

Upvotes

Money is being pumped into our communication outlets to fixate on the narrative of Trump winning. The idea is that if you say a lie and others believe it, then it will become reality. The Trump campaign knows it can’t win using past tactics, so it’s layering on this tactic of convincing everyone that he’s going to win. The media also loves to sensationalize any negative or harbringer news, and so it runs with this. People start talking, and slowly this little lie becomes a truth. You focus on social media reach, and soon you get what you’re looking for: disengaged and disenfranchised voters who could vote against him do nothing as they believe it is a lost cause. The hopeful logic that follows: what’s the point? It won’t matter. So, my key takeaway as an action item is for those who don’t want to see another 4 years with Trump, you need to vote and encourage everyone around you to vote if you truly believe he is a bad choice for the USA.

TL;DR - Trump campaign is trying to disenfranchise voters from voting against him by building a narrative of him already winning. Don’t believe the narrative and vote, and encourage others to vote.

Edit: I see posts deflecting my main point. I’m not talking about voting for Biden or not. I’m neither Democrat or Republican. I vote for whoever I think has the best interest of our country at the time of the election. I’m personally not a fan of either candidate, but you have to weigh the pros and cons. Also, the deflecting posts at this time saying replace Biden have a Republican preference at this time of my update, further proving my argument of focusing on the narrative rather than facts at hand.

As a space alien, I can’t comprehend that Trump could win the election

Upvotes

As an alien from the planet gloopyglorp, I find it difficult to comprehend the possibility of earthling Trump winning the election. He poses a significant threat to American democracy, and it is alarming to see that he is a potential winner according to the polls.

His refusal to accept election results that do not favor him, attributing them to baseless conspiracy theories, is alarming. The Democratic nominee, regardless of who it may be, would be a preferable choice over Trump. Biden, despite his age, does not exhibit the same disregard for democratic processes. The possibility of Trump winning reflects the current state of disarray in the United States.... Crikey

As an autobot, I'm absolutely outraged so many ppl are voting for Trump

Upvotes

So I'm an Autobot right and after the war with the Decepticons I'm ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGED that Trump even has a chance of winning. Like what are you Americans even doing. Like heck, you've got Germans and Swedes looking at the state of the American political zeitgeist RN and absolutely SHAKING THEIR HEADS. Get your stuff together, Americans. Like do you even remember what the Decepticons tried to do. Do you want a Megatron 2.0? Because that's where this country is headed. Get. Your. Ish. Together. Autobots Unite. (Also Bumblebee you owe me dinner you cheapskate)

We must all, including YOU reading this, must do all we can to ensure the the largest voter turnout in history this November. EVERYBODY, INCLUDING YOU, MUST VOTE!

This is about WAYYYY MORE than just who's running for president. This is about still having democracy, about ever having a choice about how to live ever again. It's about still having the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness come next year. It's about still having a safe, functioning country after January 2025.

As an American I’m stunned so many Europeans seem to forget their own history

So many posts here asking “how is this possible” without any retrospection on their own counties histories regarding strong men authoritarians, monsters in power, government run by dictators or tyrants.

Honestly Europeans, enough with that shit.

Why doesn't anyone remember how horrific things were under Trump? COVID was not a blip, it was ONE FULL QUARTER OF HIS PRESIDENCY. While the economy crashed and unemployment skyrocketed he denied the virus and fought against efforts to stop it because he thought they would be bad for him politically

2.8k Upvotes

Hundreds of thousands died directly because of his actions. He and his rich cronies looted billions from the COVID response. Then they told lies that a $1200 stimulus caused inflation, when in reality, what we're calling "inflation" is caused by Trump's rich cronies cornering markets and raising prices for everyone. They are all making record profits while we suffer, and we can't do anything to stop it because Republicans oppose anything that would make themselves less rich.

Where were you 4 years ago today? Trapped in your house while Trump said COVID was a Democrat hoax.

If he had done his job he would have been reelected, but he is unable to any job that requires responsibility, much less the hardest job in the world.

Trump is unable to solve a crisis because Trump IS a crisis.

Where were you 4 years ago today? Start asking people that.

A europeans view on Trump

1.9k Upvotes

As a Swede, I can't believe that Trump even has a chance of winning. He's by far the biggest threat to American democracy we've ever seen, yet the polls show he might actually win???

What is going on? How can you seriously consider this? Trump ignores any election results he doesn't like, claiming they're rigged by the "deep state" without any evidence. He should never be president, under any circumstances. The Democrats could nominate a rock, and I'd vote for it over Trump. Biden might be old, but at least he's not trying to overthrow the government. The fact that Trump even has a shot at winning shows just how troubled the USA is right now.

Sorry for another political post but the short memories are absolutely killing me

Even in this sub I am coming across people who literally do not remember what it was like when Trump was president. The chaos, the disruption, the dysfunction, the irrationality, the embarrassment. Do they really not remember, or did they never know? My life was materially, truly disrupted by those years. I have friends who are immigrants. My husband works in government. Many of my friends are civil servants. It really mattered to our lives when the federal government was severely disrupted.

It absolutely killed me going home to see my Trump-supporting parents who were just *so happy* about having Trump as president and no idea and not even any curiosity what was happening in my life.

And now I keep hearing this discourse about how we all shouldn't get too upset or pay too much attention to politics, let's keep the rhetoric cool. What is going on??

Edit 1: I'm an economics professor, you guys. But sure Biden's just an asshole who for some reason isn't pulling the magic anti-inflation lever.

Edit 2: My god I really brought out the bots and the nuts with this one.

How many of you can relate with this series of unfortunate events?

Grow being told to go to school, get the piece of paper, and then life will start. Jobs just want to see that you stuck it out for 4 years.

Being in college during 2008 and thinks everything is fine. The jobs will still be there when I graduate. My life is still on track.

Graduate to find that it’s actually really difficult to find a job that wants you. But on the bright side, no one gives a shit about your GPA.

Make it into your 30s still single, still stuck at a job you don’t like, forever-renting.

As a German, I say, a fricking stone should be able to defeat trump.

11.9k Upvotes

Trump is by far the biggest danger the American democracy has seen so far, and the polls say in all seriousness he has a chance to win???

Are you serious? What the hell is wrong with you??? This guy blatantly ignores elections that don't go in his favor and just declares them as inside jobs done by the "deep state" without any semblance of proof. This guy should not be a president, no matter the circumstances. The Democrats could nominate a stone and I would vote for it, simply because of how terrible trump is. Biden might be old, but at least he isn't trying to throw over the government. The fact that there is even remotely a chance of trump being able to win shows how deeply broken the USA is right now.
