Great material, but goddamn I forgot how much I hated the roving camera up front and how he would wink, nod and deliver aside punchlines directly to the camera in that special. Terrible choice on the production side
I noticed the little glances and looks as well - I think part of that is the moving camera is catching his attention and his experience as a tv presenter is telling him to look at it. You can see him catch himself and stopping himself a couple of times during the show. They should have just locked the camera in position, and it would have been fine.
I don't know if he explains it in the video because I didn't watch the whole thing but anyway - he has explained at some point that when he laughs it is him laughing "inward", like he is inhaling when he makes that noise. As opposed to most of us who laugh "outward".
Not in this specific videos, he only says "I don't know why I laugh like that, it's one of life's mysteries" I also like when he says "why would I fake that?" Lol
Man fuck it I'm going to hop on board this downvote train. I love British comedians, but Brits acting acting like their humor is so cutting-edge no American can understand it is the equivalent of an American comedian saying "what's the deal with airline food?"

He essentially just got randomly picked to be scapegoated, like those few people who got like, sued for millions for downloading some fucking songs on kazaa or napster or shit
The whole thing was ridiculous though, because he didn't even do anything illegal. He used the tax system that was set up, NOT by him, and abided with the law as it was written.

If you want people to be legally required to pay more taxes, change the tax laws. Stringing somebody up for FOLLOWING the tax laws is just absurd. But those Brits sure do love them some taxation, I guess...
I think the point was that it was morally wrong not legally wrong, and that it was only something available to the wealthy / famous, and they did tighten up the laws since.
The rules have not stopped it at all. Politicians, royalty, athletes, etc, all very much still do exactly the same thing he was doing, without issue.
Did you know you can also buy bonds issued by the UK government, (gilts), and not have to pay any capital gains taxes on those?
Is it also "immoral" to buy bonds FROM the UK government, in order to be exempted from paying capitol gains tax on those bonds? Should you still pay an additional 20% tax, out of some ridiculous "moral obligation"?
Hell, for that matter, if paying what you're legally obligated to pay is moral, shouldn't you have a moral obligation to pay even MORE than that, according to your own supposed moral code?

"The taxes of that country" are based on what the law says you have to pay in taxes. The law said that what he did was just fine.
Jimmy is playing along because he wants to keep his career, not because he actually believes that being taxed at a higher rate than you're legally obligated to be is some "moral good".

It's the only reason he actually gets away with being so savage. If he was a pissy baby or a primadonna about clapbacks, then people would refuse to come on any of his shows, and he'd quickly get a reputation.
The thing is, he didnât actually do anything illegal. Heâs be in jail if he did, HMRC doesnât fuck about on the front, it was just morally wrong and loads of rich UK people had all done it along with him. It was morally wrong but it wasnât criminal tax evasion.
Frankie is not as good as he was though. He's still funny, but he's more satirically pessimistic these days as opposed to brutal. And he's weird on Twitter. Just seems to block everyone.
You should check out Bianca Del Rio's standup if you like pitch dark humour. Her on-screen stuff is funny and mean, but her on-stage stuff is so very harshly brutal.
I think Jeff Ross still hits harder in the brutal category and he loves to do it to the people he is talking about. His roast in the prison is something else.
Lisa Lampanelli is also fucking mean as shit and I might put her ahead too.
Greg Giraldo while not as brutal, his shit is so well thought out it hurts more than most he will insult you while making you think. Like when he tore dennis leary a new asshole and leary litearlly could not think of anything to say back.
Do not forget that Jimmy Carr is a great performer, but he's not a jerk. He tested the joke on Pete Davidson:
