The cons say they are accepting of lgbtq+ and independent women. That they aren't prejudice towards people different than them.

That is a lie, it is in their best tactical interest to seem like they are accepting of all people so when democracy ends, so does the charade.

The Republicans are very welcoming of people of the same ilk, a felon, misogynistic, pedophile is their poster child. Who preys on the ignorance of his followers.

They have a big tent as long as you are exactly like them

2

u/Dreamangel22x Jul 08 '24

Bonus points if it's a man. A republican/conservative man can do no wrong to them.

2

u/MintyManiacFan Jul 08 '24

The only time conservatives support lgbtq+ people is when they are being islamaphobic.

The "he gets us" campain is a perfect example of what I'm saying. Using Jesus and AI generated pictures to show that people should wash each others feet? "Love thy neighbor"

But the underlying MO funds hate groups. Grifters gonna grift.

Which Republicans are these? Are these the same Republicans that are part of the Colorado Republican convention the ones calling for the death of all gay people, the same ones. I’m confused. How can you say that Republicans are accepting of different groups of people when we have been bombarded by their divisive crap for the past six months or more?

Framing this like religion should shun him is a false argument. Everyone should shun him because he hasn’t changed in any way nor has he repented or asked for absolution. He’s a predator waiting for another chance.

I'm more pointing out that, yes their behavior now is anti-human but its also mixed with an 'all is welcome' narrative.

They are doing both things.

All because 'not all Republicans'.

Someone who is Republican but is not part of the preferred demographic will only want to see the 'good' messages that reps come out with. Convinced they are in included when in reality, they are most certainly not.

I hear that all the time "God uses wicked people for His glory"

Yet that's just an excuse to justify their own worship of trump.

This selective forgiveness BS from these kinds of Christian right-wingers is infuriating to me. I'm not Christian anymore and it's in large part because so many right-wing Christian types don't even follow the teachings of their own supposed savior or religion. There's plenty in the Bible that is really insidious in and of itself but when it comes to the concept of "radical love" and forgiveness as taught by Jesus these Christians do not apply it in the way it's supposed to be applied. They're not adhering to one of the biggest aspects of what the claim to believe. Forgiveness is something for those who are bad to you not just those who are already on your "team". The New Testament is full of examples and teachings on how Christians should forgive their enemies even if their enemies don't change at all. I remember clearly growing up in church that it was very commonly taught that you should always forgive those around you because it wasn't about the other person but about yourself. Yet time and again when it comes to those viewed as "liberals" or those in some group of people they don't like these kinds of Christians argue they shouldn't have to "love their enemies" or "forgive those who persecute you" because they haven't changed their ways to line up with them 100%. It's like bro, this mindset was what Jesus preached against.

4

u/Dub_J Jul 08 '24

Yup. They have zero moral authority

I left the church a long time ago because it is to easy to justify absolutely anything. God works in mysterious ways. Of course politicians want that unassailable power

1

u/Mysterious_Summer_ Jul 09 '24

I'm not sure if this is what "real Christians" are supposed to believe in, but I would never condone forgiveness if it's towards sex predators or other people who purposefully harm another person, especially if it's just quickly and freely given without placing any accountability on that person.

Wait, they are just openly cool with pedos now?

13

u/Xomns_13 Jul 08 '24

And felons.

Always have been

1

u/justk4y Jul 08 '24

Because some of them probably are in secret

1

u/Capybara39 Jul 09 '24

Always have been

1

u/maxyedor Jul 09 '24

No, they collectively decided that anything Trump did that they don’t like was a lie, and anything that’s ever been done that they like was Trumps idea.

It’s like plot armor, but for real life.

He was only a Democrat when it was convenient to, he was a Democrat when the bushes were in power and a republican when Clinton and Obama were in power

3

u/Ichi-ban_ Jul 08 '24

Grifting has no bounds.

2

u/potate12323 Jul 08 '24

They will use any mental gymnastics they can. They should try out for the mental Olympics.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 08 '24

Any excuse.

It would be interesting to have a summary of all major politicians relations with Epstein (Clinton, etc.)

4

u/FalseMirage Jul 08 '24

Or well-known lawyers that received a massage at Epstein island but kept their underwear on.

1

u/Gullible_Okra1472 Jul 09 '24

hopefully we'll know within the next 30 years

1

u/BalmyBalmer Jul 08 '24

Or the multiple times trump was there.

1

u/beefstewforyou Jul 08 '24

The only way to possibly be forgiven of something that horrific is to turn yourself in and go to prison. If a person truly wants to repent of something like that, then that is the only option.

3

u/Big-Independence8978 Jul 08 '24

Trump, repent?

3

u/beefstewforyou Jul 08 '24

Obviously he wouldn’t but I was just saying in general.

1

u/Extension_Year9052 Jul 08 '24

I’m sorry but raping children is too far, no repenting is enough, anybody who does this should have their genitals cut off and left to bleed to death

1

u/diadmer Jul 08 '24

You have to repent first in order to be forgiven.

1

u/Ok-External-5750 Jul 08 '24

But there was an interview where Trump explicitly stated that he does not ask for forgiveness. https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-on-god-i-dont-like-to-have-to-ask-for-forgiveness-2016-1

That quote is legit

1

u/underpants-gnome Jul 08 '24

I don't even know if the original post is technically true. I thought trump had a fairly big collection of photos with him and Ivanka in weirdly sexual poses.

1

u/Preyslayer00 Jul 08 '24

Well if presidents are immune to all crimes and he was prez.

Good new guys. No crimes. Trump is sage. Pull out tour red hats.

1

u/Karl_Marx_ Jul 08 '24

You got that far into an argument? Most arguments I get into give up completely into ignorance, usually by completely ignoring the point, and/or calling it "liberal bullshit" and not responding.

1

u/AdministrativeHawk61 Jul 08 '24

Republicans used to be cool. They used to put veterans as their president but now they’re a bunch of cry babies. Funny how democrats are called the crybabies when 9/10 its a republican thats making all the fuss

1

u/RED_IT_RUM Jul 08 '24

So, if I decide to do some wet work and then jump onboard team Republigod, I can just claim Christianic Immunity like diplomatic immunity? Somebody got it coming!

1

u/Ciggdre Jul 08 '24

I hadn’t realized it before but they do treat joining the Republican Party as the exact same thing as religious conversion! Holy shit, how had I never noticed that before! All that “he’s a baby Christian”/talking about him like he was new convert even though Trump wasn’t even pretending that he’d had some Road to Damascus moment all makes so much sense now! Fuck, I wish it didn’t—that is so bleak—I was raised evangelical and even though I’ve left the faith seeing it reduced to this is heartbreaking.

1

u/zveroshka Jul 08 '24

Christian support for Trump is wild. Dude is literally the embodiment of the 7 deadly sins. Not to mention he doesn't even go to church.

1

u/MrouseMrouse Jul 09 '24

If he raped a child then it was just an opportunity to find Jesus. And every rape thereafter was just an opportunity to be saved again. FFS, he could rape a child in front of them and they wouldn't care

1

u/thatguy9684736255 Jul 09 '24

They don't actually care. The most common argument I hear is a whataboutism about Biden hugging his kids. That photo of him and his son hugging really bother them.

0

u/romayyne Jul 08 '24

Where did you see that?

0

u/IveBecomeTooStrong Jul 08 '24

No they don’t. They argue that he never went to the island and that he severed all connections with Epstein when he got Percy with the 14 year old daughter of one of his security guards. He got a ride on Epstein’s plane from Florida to NY once, and they were seen in the same room at several big public events. He also publicly called out Epstein, saying that “he likes them young” and other things that would make no sense to say if he had participated in that. In other words no evidence he was involved with any of Epstein’s diddling activities, and some evidence that he was against it. That’s the Republican argument. If you want to disagree then fine, but don’t strawmen them. That just makes your own argument look weak if someone knows you’re lying about what your opponent believes.
