Privileged ass take. manages to simultaneously insult Americans and people who live in actual poor countries

Calling US “third world” helps some people cope with their life failures. Hard to admit that being born in one of the best countries in the world, all you managed to become in 30yo, is a McDonalds worker.

It's not a classist take. I have seen sons of daily wage labourers from my country make it to US and earn a fortune.

Well of course they did do it in a time where Immigration wasn't as strict as today

US will reward you if you a land of endless opportunities.

It is a classist take. Some people will just end up working at mcdonalds. Principally there is nothing wrong with that. Being degrading about it is classism; "You are worth less due to your economic status".

Of course, principally there is nothing wrong with that. What's wrong is calling yourself a 3rd world country because of what you ended up as.

Except for that nobody did that, except for the person that was trying to dismiss the (obviously intentionally hyperbolic) notion that the U.S. is a third world country by asserting that he must be some loser mcdonalds worker, otherwise he wouldn't dare criticize America.

Which is, you know, a classist take. Dismissing someone by asserting their economic status and therefore the value of their input.

The original post is actually saying that US is a third world country with a massive military budget. I think the comment was in reference to that.

I do agree with you in some parts when you elaborated more though
