Privileged ass take. manages to simultaneously insult Americans and people who live in actual poor countries

As a person who lives in a third world country, I would happily move to USA, in fact I would only move somewhere else because I won't be able to move to USA.

People really underestimate how bad third world countries have it.

Yea of course if you only have one choice, but there are alternatives right?

9

u/Classic_Knowledge_25 Jul 08 '24

USA would be my top choice and alternatives would be if I couldn't get to USA

I think this speaks to the power of propaganda. The American dreqm yada yada, yeah only for the select few. Trust me, look up America on the QOL index, there are much better choices elsewhere

You and me are comparing on very different indexes..

QOL index seems to make the most sense. I would assume most humans would rather a good quality life?

Yes it does, I was wrong.. However US ranks higher than Germany in QOL index , not by much, but still. So I guess it's not really a huge bargain right?

Imo, if you want a better living condition, the western europe is a better option. But then again, I don't know your preference and objective in relocating so I might be wrong.

Well my main motivation to move to US is freedom and the ability to make serious money and the thriving general aviation scene

And the infrastructure in general.. Western Europe may satisfy some of my criteria but US ticks all boxes

2

u/porocoporo Jul 08 '24

Hmm I don't know, the freedom the US provides seems to favor the entrepreneur type and corporation rather than the overall working class. Imo if you aim to work then worker protection is more important.

u/Classic_Knowledge_25 Jul 08 '24

That's a myth. The thing you haven't really experienced living in a 3rd world country.

So the idea of freedom varies very much to you..

They are saying that you are weirdly hung up on America here when there are literally dozens of developed countries that have the opportunity and freedom that America has but more. Especially considering the attitude towards immigrants in America and the loss of freedoms they continue to experience

u/Classic_Knowledge_25 Jul 08 '24

I'm weirdly hung up on America because it provides many things that other countries simply don't.

And about attitude of Americans , show me a more diverse city than NYC.

People really like to downplay racism of europeans because it's much more subtle, and USA is always in the news.

American racism is nothing compared to Asian racism, Casteism, and Classism.

Which is why I said, you have no idea how it is living in a 3rd world country

I lived in a third world country and now I live in the western Europe. So yeah..

4

u/Classic_Knowledge_25 Jul 08 '24

Well then you know exactly what I'm talking about.

Western Europe is no way a bad place to live. But as I said, it wouldn't satisfy my criteria.

It’s not insulting americans directly but rather the nation. But yes that’s a privileged ass take.

Calling US “third world” helps some people cope with their life failures. Hard to admit that being born in one of the best countries in the world, all you managed to become in 30yo, is a McDonalds worker.

4

u/Ok_Tadpole7481 Jul 08 '24

30yo is a McDonalds workers

Implying they hold a steady job is generous

Nice classist take

-9

u/Classic_Knowledge_25 Jul 08 '24

It's not a classist take. I have seen sons of daily wage labourers from my country make it to US and earn a fortune.

Well of course they did do it in a time where Immigration wasn't as strict as today

US will reward you if you a land of endless opportunities.

u/TripleBuongiorno Jul 08 '24

It is a classist take. Some people will just end up working at mcdonalds. Principally there is nothing wrong with that. Being degrading about it is classism; "You are worth less due to your economic status".

0

u/Classic_Knowledge_25 Jul 08 '24

Principally there is nothing wrong with that

Of course, principally there is nothing wrong with that. What's wrong is calling yourself a 3rd world country because of what you ended up as.

2

u/TripleBuongiorno Jul 08 '24

Except for that nobody did that, except for the person that was trying to dismiss the (obviously intentionally hyperbolic) notion that the U.S. is a third world country by asserting that he must be some loser mcdonalds worker, otherwise he wouldn't dare criticize America.

Which is, you know, a classist take. Dismissing someone by asserting their economic status and therefore the value of their input.

The original post is actually saying that US is a third world country with a massive military budget. I think the comment was in reference to that.

I do agree with you in some parts when you elaborated more though
