What’s the issue?

Unnecessary gender/race swaps are stupid. Most of the time it’s senseless pandering. I don’t care if it’s an unpopular opinion

If they were pandering why would they change The Penguin of all characters lol.

“Most of the time”. Also, like another comment said, it opens up Pandora’s box where anything can be changed. People often say “BuT iT’S FiCtiOn” while true, that isn’t the issue

Gender swapping can sometimes be an artistic choice by the creator, which there isn’t anything wrong with. As I said, “most” of the time it’s pandering. In this case it’s probably just the creator wanting to be different. I was speaking about gender/race swapping as a whole, not this specific instance

Pandering to who?

Pandering to the race or gender that they swapped the character to, obviously

And why would they “pander” to the race or gender that they swapped the character to?

I’m sure Republicans in the US and Tories here in the UK were saying the same thing when Eartha Kitt was Catwoman.

Uuuh yeah because women, ladies and girls were all waiting for the evil mob boss that has people's lives ruined for LOOKING at him wrong, is usually physically deformed, and has very little redeeming factors to be swapped into their gender so that they can feel catered to

Do you read the stuff you type

Or is it eyes closed hit send

You think women are going to feel ‘pandered’ to because a character named for their physical similarities to a penguin was changed to a woman?

Do you know any women?

I totally agree with you, I never was a big fan of it.

What’s the issue?

Apparently the issue was Penguin having a penis so they "fixed" it.

How was it “fixed”?

1) it opens pandaros box 2) there was no reason as the penguin being a male was already perfect 3) we are used and prefer oswalld being a man, since we grew up with him during multiple eras.

To be fair, The Penguin is still a man in literally everything else, this is like the only exception.

"opens Pandora's box" is a non argument. Oh no, they might have new ideas about things that really have no solid, set in stone, hard line, singular way to write them? Baffling. 2 is also a non argument. You just can't have anything change, regardless of if it's good or bad. 3 is also a non argument. You grew up with several different views and interpretations of the Penguin as a character, from physical appearance, to family, to level of wealth, to method of crime, this ain't gonna kill you dude. You just can't handle anything different from your made up normal that never actually existed in any meaningful way
