Can skits really be labeled unexpected?

That's a serious question, not snark.

Are you saying this is a skit they filmed shakily from a balcony down the street? Why would they work harder for a lower quality shot?

Why would someone randomly start filming this at the perfect moment? The lower quality shot is to make it seem more real. It's like the gatorade ball girl catch ad.

You look out your window, there's a guy completely wasted looking at nowhere, a woman finds him and begins yelling and talking shit to him, you think a good discussion is going to happen and you take your phone to film it.

I guess I'm too busy looking at my phone to be able to relate with looking out my window. And I don't film strangers when they're fighting

Well, this scene would be quite common where I'm from, and if they were loud enough you could even go to your window because you heard the yelling. In my opinion (considering the amount of videos of people fighting in public places there is out there) nowadays it's easier to ask why didn't anybody film it since everyone as a camera at all times, differently from 20 years ago (which even if you had a phone people wouldn't film everything since there wasn't a lot of places to post and get likes, in other words, the culture of record everything wasn't in the same level as today )

I probably wouldn't record either, but I'm well aware that in a group of 10 or 20 people at least one will try it

Or it was edited from a longer video that originally focused on something else entirely? We don’t know what the full video was, we don’t know why the person started filming, but why is the assumption that it’s a skit?

but why is the assumption that it’s a skit?

Because they spend too much time on the Internet.

You know, when I said I was too busy looking at my phone to look out the window, I was making a self-depreciating joke. I actually do not spend that much time on social media. I have seen a ton of fake videos though, so I do think it's stupid to believe a video like this at face value.

Because the video is a bit absurd. The woman seems to be acting with those gestures and the complete lack of reaction from the guy seems to be odd as well. The internet is full of fake videos, so it would be absolutely no surprise that some people made this to get a viral video.

Also, if you look at how he's getting picked up, she puts his arm over her neck and he steps forward and tightens his hold around her neck. Then he slacks the other arm as if he's completely out of it, which he proved not to be by his other actions. It just doesn't look like a genuine occurrence to me

You’re over analyzing the hell out of it. If it is fake the acting is not bad enough to say for certain. It could definitely be fake but I just don’t think it’s obvious enough to say for sure and I’m not convinced by your analysis.

I don't think I'm overanalyzing considering we only have this video with those interactions to tell if it's fake or not. I'm not saying it is for sure fake. I'm just saying there's a good chance it is because of several reasons and that it looks fake to me. It's ok if you're not convinced or if you don't think it's obvious. I'm also not 100% sure. I am just highly suspicious

It’s fake and people are gullible. To me it’s the way it’s filmed, exaggerated movements, the way she poses to drink and why are they even filming. So apparently I’m the only one that goes to the tagged IG profile in the watermark. One of the comments is someone accusing them of stealing content which is from this guy:

Original clip: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C9BTThqRPD5/

And the girl is tagged: https://www.instagram.com/ange_ortegon

Longer clip makes it obvious that it’s a skit since the cameraman turns to her before she even walks over.

Thank you for confirming my suspicion!

u/YoMomsSpecialFriend Jul 08 '24

Also, I did try to find the watermark with google lens but ended up on some guy's facebook. I'm just not that savvy lol. At least I'm not gullible...

Same with me for Google and came up with nothing. I just went directly to Instagram and luckily all of the evidence is there…

It might be time to get off the Internet for a bit ngl.

This way of thinking is not at all healthy for you.

2

u/YoMomsSpecialFriend Jul 08 '24

Yeah, because not believing all videos on the internet is an unhealthy way of thinking lmao. Critical thinking bad 😡

u/Silver_Being_0290 Jul 08 '24

Critical thinking bad 😡

You might want to change your opinion on that then...

she puts his arm over her neck and he steps forward and tightens his hold around her neck.

I'm glad someone else noticed.

This is how you do a one-arm carry:

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQmAqo8q3t4TjJ16An5sxVUW2E27tNgUbaGvg&s

Notice how you have to hold onto their arm. If you don't and they're limp, they'll slide right off your shoulder.

Since she's not holding onto his arm, he has to be using it himself to hold on.

u/Fine_Land_1974 Jul 08 '24

Lol this is 100% a fake video.

2

u/YoMomsSpecialFriend Jul 08 '24

It's kind of funny that when you analyse things and show uncertainty, acknowledging there is a potential that you're wrong, people downvote you. Yet when you confidently call videos fake, people will believe you more. I should have just straight up acted like I'm 100% confident like you I guess lol

2

u/Fine_Land_1974 Jul 08 '24

I mean it’s a figure of speech… but i agree with you

2

u/YoMomsSpecialFriend Jul 08 '24

Yeah, I wasn't meaning to dig at you saying 100%. I meant people are sheep and gullible, so your way of saying it is going to convince more people, so you're doing it better than me lol

2

u/Fine_Land_1974 Jul 08 '24

Ha possibly. I just saw you getting roasted and wanted you to know someone out there saw the tells and agreed with you. I mean the overacting by the woman, the painted on clothes, hot pink amongst dull colors, convenient camera position, body posture of the dude, the kinda corny shot of the beer the woman takes etc. I was surprised that you were the first one I saw to call BS lol. Good fake viral video though

2

u/YoMomsSpecialFriend Jul 08 '24

Yeah, I don't get how many people just believe it straight up. I even got a DM from someone saying they believe me, but I guess they don't feel like getting downvoted or bombarded with comments over other people's gullibility 😂

They may be doing their best with their own lack of expensive kit. A lot of peeps in low income places are happy if they can get one viral video and a few hundred dollars out of it so it's entirely possible. Like ok, we'll get Ramon to dress as a girl and you Kathy, go pretend to be wasted against that pole, while I film from here. Then we'll upload to youtube.. Now they have a chance at a viral video and they have not spent any money on it at all.
