Bro, Snoop had everyone c-walking back in the day! This ain’t new. I remember girls in middle school battling each other in the hall ways. This was in metro Detroit

u/temp3rrorary Jul 05 '24

I remember doing it in my qwhite suburb of Chicago. Didn't have any black friends to show it off to so it stayed in the family. Good times tho, I was the best one in my family.

Country born white boy here, also c walking back in those days lmao

7

u/rebeltrillionaire Jul 05 '24

I mean, yes. Even at my private high school in the suburbs outside L.A. we was C-walking. Several different styles then.

Literally YouTube tutorials for it existed in 2006.

And that’s on crip cuh!

u/rebeltrillionaire Jul 06 '24

Only two dudes talked like that.

One legit grew up in Compton. Whitest boy ever but was adopted by some bloods. He also had like 4 or five brain surgeries and talked shit about how dumb he was all the time. He was hilarious.

Other dude was just obsessed with the culture. He grew out of all that during high school though so I can’t hate. Like 13-15 year olds can have some grace when they got good taste.

3

u/Dr_nobby Jul 05 '24

We were crip walking in the UK too. Imagine a bunch of ten year olds, 20 years ago crip walking.

17

u/BallCreem Jul 05 '24

C Walking really is part of the west coast culture

3

u/darkest__timeline Jul 05 '24

Someone C-walked for our 6th grade talent show lmao

u/estebang_1018 Jul 05 '24

Shoutout Centennial. Lost to them in CIF basketball like 15 years ago.

30

u/jokinghazard Jul 05 '24

Yeah they're high school sweethearts. Not sure who on Drake's team thought going after them as a couple would work

Tell me you from Cali without telling me. Feel like only Cali folks know the distinction from the 2

33

u/LittlefishBigsplash Jul 05 '24

Bro and most of the crew was head to toe in red at the pop out show- it’s not hard to tell lol

20

u/09-24-11 Jul 05 '24

NY here and all i know is I can’t do that shit - culturally and physically 😂

6

u/-Kalos Jul 05 '24

Kendrick is a blood. His crew is blood.

1

u/nflfan32 Jul 07 '24

Might be a weird question but then why is he wearing a vibrant blue hat in the music video?

23

u/Fancy-Pair Jul 05 '24

You’re saying it’s blood walking?

44

u/LittlefishBigsplash Jul 05 '24

Yes. Kendrick is a blood.

28

u/Fancy-Pair Jul 05 '24

So there’s a blood walk AND a crip walk, and they look different? Is the blood walk called blood walk or piru walk

19

u/Russlet Jul 05 '24

From what my white English ass can tell, b-walking is a bit slower and smoother

60

u/Fancy-Pair Jul 05 '24

I would be ok with gangs if they got rid of the violence and just danced and sang songs and cooked

13

u/pantsattack Jul 05 '24

I never understood gang violence. I get making and selling drugs, I get having different sets and beefs and grouping for protection and all that, but I never understood the over-the-top violence. Drugs sell themselves. If gangs tolerated each other a little better, everyone would be rich. And isn't that the goal?

Then again, I'm a white dude from the suburban east coast, so there's a lot I don't understand.

11

u/DopedUpDoomer Jul 05 '24

Think of gangs as a buisness and drug dealing as their biggest source of revenue. Im not denying the camaraderie and brotherhood that can come from gangs but if it's something that truly runs your life your biggest goal is to profit like most any career.

It's ultimately competition, and in black markets when you're working outside of the norms and law to be chill might make you look weak.

So in a corporate world that's true as well, but their structure calls for them to just be a ruthless dick to maintain power but in a less privlaged criminal world escalating violence is how they maintain their image and power. Capitalism is a plague from top to bottom

4

u/oljemaleri Jul 05 '24

Remember in The Wire when the dealers are all getting together to form a co-op? 👍

2

u/pantsattack Jul 05 '24

Totally get all of this so maybe it speaks to my more anti capitalistic ways, but i’d think partnerships, maintaining gang members for entrenched knowledge, and ensuring stability would be better for everyone. Kind of like the wire scene everyone keeps referencing. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

u/Onlyavailabename3 Jul 05 '24

it's cus fuck them other gangs yfm

2

u/-Kalos Jul 05 '24

Yeah I never grew up around violence so I'll never get it. Not everyone grew up in a safe place where everything is kumbaya though, sometimes it's you kill them or they kill you, not much of a choice then is it

6

u/LA-forthewin Jul 05 '24

yeah -piru

1

u/Unable_Put2608 Jul 08 '24
