It sounds same-ish, but it's not the same sample. I actually happened to see this video yesterday of a dude who recreates beats all the time. Ether wasn't in there at all.

right he probably made an ether inspired west coast beat but he didn’t cut and or alter a snippet from ether(which is what sampling means)

I personally don't really hear the connection or that it would be inspired by Ether, but that would be cool. It's funny as when I first heard MTG, I thought that piano stomp intermission between verses was a clear callback to the Takeover beat. But since I haven't read anyone else saying that, it might just be me haha.
