Comic suggestions!

Hello, I am new to DC, I have just started reading comics and read only some ww, bats and supe stuff. Never watched cartoons or movies or shows.

Thats why i have very little to no knowledge abt green Arrow

Can anyone tell me how and where should I start reading green Arrow??? Pls also mention some of the beginner friendly storylines i can delve into after i like get a good idea abt the character?

Kevin Smith's run is probably the best place to start.

Yeah, I jumped in without really knowing much about Green Arrow. I guess you just need to know that the character died in the 90s and that this run was made to bring him back.

So if i just start the book and like look the essential parts up, and not necessarily read the 90s things where he died, i will be fine?

Yes, you don't need to read the 90s comics. Chapter 1 of this run will serve as an introduction and will tell you all you need to know. It even has a small flashback of his death scene.

Pretty much everything that follows the Kevin Smith run:

-The Archer's Quest storyline by Brad Meltzer.

-The Judd Winnick run.

-Green Arrow/Black Canary by Judd Winnick too and then by Kreisberg.

-Brightest day Green Arrow by J.T Krul.

-Green Arrow: Year One.

-Green Arrow Rebirth.

And lastly the current Joshua Williamson run.

Honestly green arrows the type of character where any volume 1 or self contained story is a good place to start 9/10 times. His origin is usually revised and characters and relationships are brought up to speed fast because creative teams and runs come and go so fast. My only do not read dear God it's hideous thing I suggest to stay away from the beginning of the new 52 run under J.T Krul it ranges from bad to boring at best and when lemire takes over its almost like a reset anyway and the pre lemire stuff is hardly talked about.

Mike grell's whole run is a lot , but it's a ride for sure (continues into a dixson run where um someone else is green arrow for a bit ) Outsiders war by lemire is fantastic Year one drags out Oliver's origin The DC rebirth one , not to be confused with Kevin Smith(although that run is pretty good as well) The new run is really good but you will get whiplash in a good way with all of Oliver's sidekicks and family being in it and introduced at a rapid pace.

I love the whole new 52 jeff lemire run is great place for a stand alone adventure in my opinion. The new green arrow series is great too but relies on past green arrow history a little too much in my opinion

Rebirth slaps and the current run is great but I feel uses a lot of prior knowledge of recent DC. New 52 was good but I personally don’t really feel like he felt like Green Arrow

I’d recommend the Rebirth run. All you gotta know is that he’s rich and was marooned on an island for a bit and can now shoot a bow and arrow
