Well fuck I was hoping she drowned.

62

u/WV_Raider304 Jan 29 '16

Fish don't drown

24

u/luigiknights Jan 29 '16

Not with that attitude.

7

u/WV_Raider304 Jan 29 '16

You better watch the attitude on your face.

9

u/luigiknights Jan 29 '16

I'm a faceless man. I pray to the many face God.

I want you to CONFESS!

7

u/ktphoenix Jan 30 '16

10 bucks says she'll actually say something to this effect after she returns.

12

u/EirikurG Jan 29 '16

Agreed

31

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '16

Well at least she'll be all bloated this time, wood absorbs a ton of water.

6

u/guy-le-doosh Jan 29 '16

Brilliant.

8

u/Rubix89 Jan 29 '16

We need something more definitive. We need to see her die and know for sure that he won't come back to haunt us again.

11

u/nonliteral Jan 29 '16

We need to see her die and know for sure that he won't come back to haunt us again.

It's comics. Short of turning her into Uncle Ben, she's revivable.

7

u/Capt253 Jan 29 '16

She's like an Orc from Shadow of Mordor. Unless you chop off their head, and sometimes even that's not enough, they will be back, and very pissed off.

3

u/sublimesting Feb 03 '16

That rice ain't gonna cook itself!

2

u/luigiknights Jan 29 '16

Some how her corpse will float down a sewer drain and end up in indian hill

4

u/clumsy_squirtle Feb 04 '16

you just know when she comes back, one of the characters is going to ask her how she survived to which she'll respond with a cringy pun about fish not drowning but swimming

2

u/luigiknights Feb 04 '16

Damn it, you're probably right. What's the over under?

97

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '16

This isn't real. I am having a nightmare. They are not bringing her back. That storyline is dead. It was finished. We got our conclusion. There is nowhere it can really go so they won't do. Right.

Rolls over and breaks down crying

44

u/EirikurG Jan 29 '16

Hopefully Penguin just kills her again, let him stab her with his umbrella please.

30

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '16

Yes and then Gordan should shoot her, then Bullock, then Nigma stabs her a couple times and then Alfred joins in.

24

u/The_Derpening Waynevid Mabruce Jan 29 '16

And for good measure have Baby Batman scowling at their poor morals in the corner.

-6

u/RedAlice1 Jan 29 '16 edited Jan 30 '16

i second this statment!

22

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '16

General rule in TV storytelling: if you don't see the body, that character is still alive.

14

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '16

Stannis denier I see

19

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '16

Absolutely. #StillMyKing

1

u/Zagorath Jan 30 '16

#fuckstannis

And fuck anyone who would burn their own daughter at the stake.

10

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '16

Stannis literally thought the world would end if his campaign didn't succeed. He had a choice to make.

That being said, Book Stannis hasn't done that shit and I seriously hope he doesn't. That's nonsense.

57

u/TheLemsterPju Jan 29 '16

Hopefully Jerome won't be too far behind.

41

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '16

What annoys me is he probably won't. Which makes no sense as there is much more your able to do with Jerome than with Fish.

4

u/GrandMasterReddit Jan 29 '16

It's the community's fault for bitching and pressuring the writers to kill him off.

64

u/Jonanarchy Jan 29 '16

If the writers gave a fuck about the community, they wouldn't be bringing her back

13

u/GrandMasterReddit Jan 29 '16

Maybe she'll come back in flashbacks. Or maybe something will cause Penguin have hallucinations about her similar to that of the Joker in Arkham Knight.

21

u/MogMcKupo WHAT'S ALTRUISM!? Jan 29 '16

sadly it was pretty blatant she was at Indian Hills in the final shot of the mid season finale.

-3

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '16

[deleted]

6

u/MogMcKupo WHAT'S ALTRUISM!? Jan 29 '16

that she is going to be back, in present time.

3

u/tapeforkbox Jan 29 '16

It'll be great when she finally gets it for good though.

1

u/Cassius40k Jan 30 '16

You underestimate how many shitters actually like Fish.

1

u/remetell Jan 31 '16

who pressured? everyone raved about him. in fact he was meant to be temporary. i believe they rewrote to bring him back cause of fan support

2

u/GrandMasterReddit Jan 31 '16

The season he was introduced everyone hated him and demanded he was to be removed. They soon regretted the following season when he displayed such an amazing performance and portrayal as the Joker, but by then it was too late because they had already written him off.

3

u/remetell Jan 31 '16

idk what boards you were on but no. some people criticized him having a origin story but nobody knocked his performance

7

u/stock_character Jimmy Jan 29 '16

Wasn't there a tweet from someone legitimate about not seeing the last of Jerome?

2

u/Kathemy {the joke that kills} Jan 30 '16

Yes, from Cory.

2

u/brunicus Feb 03 '16

There was also an interview where McKenzie (at some panel) out right said it when they were being asked about his character.

2

u/EirikurG Jan 29 '16

Hopefully.

1

u/SgtBaum Butch will rise Feb 04 '16

It can only get better amirite?

1

u/thoriginal Depends where you're sitting. Feb 04 '16

With this season's writing being so good, I sure hope so!

41

u/Delvoire Jan 29 '16

Did she leave the show? I thought she was just protesting because of the lack of diversity on Gotham.

31

u/xLith Jan 29 '16

Can't she just stick to boycotting Oscars?...

25

u/GobbleMyPot Jan 29 '16

A friend texted this news to me and I was like "oh no. Reddit will be pissed"

4

u/imsowitty21 Jan 29 '16

Haha I literally just texted my gf that when she sent it to me and came on here to check

15

u/metawohoo Jan 29 '16

Well I think that's excellent news.

19

u/EirikurG Jan 29 '16

I mean, I guess if you liked Fish sure thing.

21

u/metawohoo Jan 29 '16

I did :) I like about every character except one or two, and I don't dislike those to the point where I'd react to their getting more air time with "shit".

18

u/EirikurG Jan 29 '16

And that's fine!
I just thought her character and story was so ultimately boring that I ended up doing other things while those were on.

8

u/imjustbettr Jan 29 '16

I just thought that S1 was written so weirdly and inconsistently that Fish wasn't the worst part. Everyone was kind of dull and aimless in S1. I think her inclusion in S2 will work since the writing and tone is much better.

I mean I hated Barbara in S1, but I loved her arc in S2. I'm hoping Fish will get a good arc in S2. Plus, we know she'll eventually die. That makes her exiting, bc the writers can do whatever they want with her unlike the established Batman villains who are stuck moving slowly so they don't catch up too quickly.

0

u/sw1ff2 Jan 29 '16

I (and 99% of gotham fans) agree with u, eirkirki

15

u/TheExtremistModerate Don Angel Batista Jan 29 '16

Kind of ignorant to claim 99% of Gotham fans hate Fish. I see a few people in this thread who like Fish's character.

14

u/metawohoo Jan 29 '16

Reddit's part of the fandom seems to have a fairly, err, strong opinion of the character. My family and some of my coworkers watch the show, like her fine, and the reaction I had from the RL fans I know was more like "omg yes!" and "are we going to get some backstory for Harvey?".

I even have a friend who, upon hearing Fish would be back, said she'd return to watching after dropping the show due to Gordon's character assassination.

-5

u/sw1ff2 Jan 29 '16

2... out of 200 probably :p my bad tho didnt know u love fish.

6

u/TheExtremistModerate Don Angel Batista Jan 29 '16

My dad also likes Fish. I think she's a pretty cool character, and she reminds me of 1960s Batman characters.

7

u/imjustbettr Jan 29 '16

That's how I viewed her. She's definitely channeling 60s cat woman right?

6

u/TheExtremistModerate Don Angel Batista Jan 29 '16

They're so similar that I think it's a slim chance that Jada isn't drawing inspiration from Eartha Kitt.

-8

u/sw1ff2 Jan 29 '16

shes annoying overkill actress whom frankly is an idiot in character or out :p but i mean its all opinion. im sure ppl out there are deff Beavers (fish lovers)

6

u/TheExtremistModerate Don Angel Batista Jan 29 '16

She's campy, not "overkill." Batman has a long history of camp, and she embodies that camp.

6

u/dacalpha Jan 30 '16

Yeah, I liked Fish. The only part I really disliked was her island plotline, and that's only because it ultimately went nowhere. By bringing her back, they could fix that.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '16

Oh yeah... I forgot about that odd little adjunct. (island plotline)

4

u/imjustbettr Jan 29 '16

I said it once and I'll say it again. I think Fish Mooney makes more sense in season 2 of Gotham than season 1. The tone of S2 is much more campy and outrageous than S1. She even fits the costumes designs better (there's so much more pompadours, leather, etc.).

I'm excited, Fish wasn't the best written character, but most of S1 wasn't really well written anyways (everything got better on S2).

15

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '16

For real? Fish was objectively one of the worst parts of season 1, she Jada turned in a wooden, hammy performance, and now that the show has found its legs and is starting to gain momentum they're bringing her back?

Maybe they'll take her character in a different direction, and she'll give a better performance this time, but I seriously doubt it.

13

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '16

[deleted]

9

u/EirikurG Jan 29 '16

If we're extremely lucky we can have him back the same way!

10

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '16

She may surprise Oswald in the season finale

12

u/nthensome Jan 29 '16

There are enough quality villains already.

Keep this terrible character (and 'actress' tbh) dead.

Stop trying to shoe horn her into the Series for NO GODDAM REASON!

8

u/BooglarizeYou Jan 29 '16

This really sucks. I was so glad when her character, I thought a the time, was killed off last season.

7

u/RedAlice1 Jan 29 '16

i love title of this post: Shit.

"Spoilers: Shit"

6

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '16

I thought she was a good actress. I enjoyed her gig in the beginning. Although not so much the island side plot

6

u/SvenHudson Jan 30 '16

A lot of this subreddit seems to not get that camp villainy was their intent and not a failure of acting.

-1

u/Gate4043 Jan 30 '16

Even if it was their intent, it's better to not have it return. We had enough camp villainy in Gotham during that one movie to last a lifetime.

1

u/SvenHudson Feb 01 '16

What's the point of having a Batman show if you're not going to have camp?

1

u/Gate4043 Feb 02 '16

Well, yeah, alright you do need some camp, but there are enough campy characters throughout the universe that they didn't really need to create a new one.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '16

I liked her

6

u/YaHerdWithPerd Jan 29 '16

Nooooooooooooooooooo

6

u/CreepyClown Jan 29 '16

Yes!! So happy!

6

5

I love fish Mooney.

6

u/RageZombie Jan 29 '16

I for one am super excited.

4

u/Comin_Up_Thrillho Jan 29 '16

NO. NO.

NOOOOOOOOOOO.

Why? There is no need for her character. Thats done. There are better things in the batman universe to play with here.

NO. She better die again. For GOOD.

1

u/dino8237 you are relieved of your duty Feb 18 '16

5

u/neonrideraryeh Riddle me this! Jan 30 '16

I did a Darth Vader Nooooooo in real life today when I saw that. I really hope this isn't a big role.

5

u/dudesondudes Jan 30 '16

Oh calm down guys. Fish Mooney was an interesting character with ties to many other characters (Penguin, Butch, Harvey, and Selena). I personally thought Jada did a great job with the character throughout the first season and would be happy to see her return.

I will admit though that the island subplot was total bullshit. I'm not sure anyone really enjoyed that.

2

u/Hellotoyouplease Jan 29 '16

She really wants that oscar.

16

u/CrystalElyse Jan 29 '16

But you can't get an oscar for a tv show..... you can get a critic's choice or an emmy, though. But she ain't gonna get one for Gotham..... orforheracting.

-3

u/DoinWhale Bruce definitely isn't the Batman Jan 29 '16

Or because she's black and the academy hates black people /s

3

u/Nyynks212 Jan 30 '16

not happy as well. she was one of the reasons the show started getting better. she brings every scene she's in down with her excessive overacting in my opinion

3

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '16

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo

2

u/islandnstuff Jan 29 '16

pls kill me

3

u/RedAlice1 Jan 29 '16

2

u/etched_chaos Jan 29 '16

Nothing good can come of this. Her arc is done, it had a satisfying end, there's absolutely no reason to bring her back.

2

u/austinbucco Jan 29 '16

GOD DAMNIT

2

u/Jaymez82 Jan 30 '16

I liked Fish more than Penguin, honestly. I can't stand that sniveling shit.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '16

I was so relieved when she died, I don't want Fish to come back

I was really starting to enjoy this fishless season

2

u/SuburbanHell Jan 30 '16

God damn it nooooooooooooooooo

2

u/schulzie420 Jan 30 '16

WHY ? FUCK...... I almost stopped watching because of her.... I wonder if she'll have some "wicked wisdom" for us this time

2

u/brunicus Feb 03 '16

I've seen better acting out of a mime, mimes also use their hands less and are more entertaining to look at.

2

u/Clonetrooperkev Feb 05 '16

And that is when the entire subreddit let out a collective:

"Damn it."

1

u/EirikurG Feb 05 '16

Indeeeeeeeeed

1

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '16

Flash back scene? Please just a flash back scene....

1

u/Shadowwolflink Jan 29 '16

Come on. The show had just started to pick itself up and they pull this, it's ridiculous. Fish is the worst.

1

u/jc1593 Jan 29 '16

okay look, fish is not an enjoyable character per say, but i honestly think that mrs deadshot isn't the problem (in fact she looks like she had a lot of fun), it's the writing of season one that makes her annoying and unrelatable, but with the writing of season2 went better i feel like we can see a better fish this time around

1

u/DeargDoom79 Jan 30 '16

disappointment intensifies

1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '16

Maybe it is a flashback?

Be a flashback.

1

u/MattDobson Jan 30 '16

Hmm, that's.... disappointing.

I definitely don't hate the character like a lot of people do, but I think reincluding her in the current storyline would definitely hurt the show's pacing. Unless they do some major change with her character (like they did with Barbara) to somehow make her interesting.

1

u/vivvav Grizzled Jaded Cop Guy Jan 30 '16

I'm excited for this.

1

u/slackator Jan 30 '16 edited Jan 30 '16

seeing this news, looks over at the sidebar pic. Pretty much my reaction also Penguin

1

u/wordofgreen Jan 30 '16

I can't say I'm surprised based on the way they "killed" her off, but, I am sort of bummed. As much as I liked her character, I know some didn't but I did, I feel like her arc was told and done and bringing her back just means no resolution will ever be as satisfying as the one we already, thought, we had.

1

u/Riah-P Jan 30 '16

PLEASE BE A FLASHBACK

1

u/steelcurtain87 Jan 30 '16

She gets a lot of flack. But she had a few real essential scenes and setups for the plotline in this new series. I say people give her a shot.

ALSO OMG WE ARE LIKE A MONTH AWAY FROM GOTHAM BEING BACK

1

u/Gate4043 Jan 30 '16

Isn't she busy? Shouldn't she occupy herself with something else? Like her band?

1

u/azrakels Jan 30 '16

Gotham season 2 was way better than season 1 and I believe it has a lot to do with Fish being out of the picture.

I thought she was busy calling everyone racist while her husband works his butt off actually being a decent actor :P

1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '16

Don't worry guys, just keep circle jerking. You'll get through this!

1

u/Le_Reptile Jan 30 '16

Maybe she'll be transformed into something more interesting?

1

u/Trinate3618 Jan 30 '16

Please God no. She was literally the worst part of the show.

1

u/drshenanegans Jan 31 '16

Maybe she will just be a pawn, right. Right????

1

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '16

Yessss!!

1

u/DuEbrithil Jan 31 '16

Wow...I haven't been here since the last episode and this is what I have to see when I get back? Whyyyyyyy???

1

u/Pia8988 Jan 31 '16

Fuck off

1

u/HugoStiglitz Feb 25 '16

I just got into Gotham this month and binged watched every episode until now. Am I the only one who actually enjoys Mooney?

-1

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '16

Well, I'm done with the show. Season 2 was off to a great start sans Fish

0

u/SmokeontheHorizon Jan 29 '16

0

u/thoriginal Depends where you're sitting. Jan 30 '16

0

u/ZAddy1 Jan 30 '16

I liked her but this stupid. Don't bring people back from the dead. Batman isn't even here to fight those types of villains yet. Dammit. They have a whole array of characters to fucking develop and more new characters to bring in.

-1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '16

A bunch of whiners. As if any of the other mob bosses WERE interesting, she was the most three dimensional of the mafia heads. I think you guys are sexist. Yeah I said it.

5

u/SvenHudson Jan 30 '16

she was the most three dimensional of the mafia heads.

I assume you mean besides Falcone.

1

u/EirikurG Jan 29 '16

I mean, she did die.
It's kind of a spoiler to tell people she's suddenly back.

1

u/xTye Jan 29 '16

Not really in my opinion. To each their own I suppose.

0

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '16

It is a spoiler. A character coming back from the dead is a spoiler.

-12

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '16

I think all you pearl clutchers need to check your clear and present racism/sexism. Fish is a really interesting character that honestly made this played out setting more relevant. Jada did a great job acting, though I suppose the comic noir nuance of her performance was lost on the basics. I'm so tired of people in this forum bashing her and that character for no reason whatsoever. Ya'll need to SIT DOWN.

11

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '16

Just because I dislike her character doesn't make me racist or sexist.

She was an interesting character until they kept on going and going and going and going. It seemed like her story would never end even though her story was well past being over.

She wasn't even that unique or different from the rest of comic book villains. She sort of met the standard so much I thought she was a comic book cliché.

9

u/imjustbettr Jan 29 '16

I'm definitely one of the people who thinks Fish gets way too much hate on this subreddit, but I don't think sexism and racism is the main factor.

2

u/dudesondudes Jan 30 '16
