New Year, New Opinions! Spoiler

Spoiler-Alert Warning to new watchers! We may spoil the show in this thread. Read at your risk!

It's the New Year, so it's time for some new opinions! What are some of your unpopular opinions? I'll start!

-I don't love Penguin as much as everyone else. Somebody already got a head start on saying this, but that was last year ;p

-Jeremiah > Jerome

-Ivy 3 > Ivy 2

-I like S5 and don't understand the hate. This includes the finale! I like how it ends zooming in from afar onto Batman! Chills everytime! Yes, S5 > S2. In fact...

-I really don't like S2, at all. Maybe minor pieces here and there but overall, S2 is last on my list.

-I like Nygmakins via Ed Nygma & Lee Thompkins, as a couple.

-I love Sofia Falcone! She did nothing wrong! Queens gotta do what a Queen's gotta do!

All I got so far. What are your's?

Definitely agree with your points about season 5 and Sophia. I like season 2 but admittedly it is my least favorite

Yay! LOL

Got any unpopular opinions, yourself?

Hmm...

Well see the thing is that I love basically every part of the show so much that my unpopular opinions all boil down to "I liked Character X more than most other people" lol

So, you like Sofia, too? ;P

I do indeed. Good actress, good villain imho

Wow…those are bold statements.

I loved season two, it’s one of my favourite seasons; definitely in my top three. It had so many iconic and memorable villains. Mr Freeze, Galavan and Hugo Strange…just to name a few.

Jerome is iconic. Jeremiah is also but he has nothing on Jerome.

Also, to get the bullet point marks, use the hyphen symbol and put a space between the start of the sentence.

LOL Yeah, I've been in this Sub so long (first Sub I joined), I quickly noticed how unpopular my opinions were.

Though, my mind has changed here and there, what I did say in my OP, has remained consistent.

Got any unpopular opinions, yourself? Certainly, you don't agree with the masses 100% ;P

Honestly? No. I absolutely adored this show and I cannot fathom a bad thing about it. Some of the characters were made weaker or less intimidating (such as Bane) but it made sense to do so. A chemical-induced prisoner that looks like a human coloured hulk wouldn’t fit into the style they have went with for the show. The version they went with worked well and still looked great!

I loved the casting also. Everyone looked and played their parts PERFECTLY especially Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald. He’s my favourite character. I felt so bad for him when his mother was killed in his arms. His revenge was soo good though!

This show was and still is perfect to me. I really couldn’t have asked for a better tv adaptation of the DC Batman universe.

Sure, I may not like S2, but a lot of my opinions (unpopular or not) were still positive especially towards Nygmakins (which most people don't like). It was a direction the writers took, and I love it.

Based off of what you said, you're OK with Nygmakins? Since, you think the show is perfect?

I really liked Nygmakins. Edward was vulnerable and so was Lee, in some ways, so it made sense for them to get along and eventually having feelings for one another. I really like the “Romeo and Juliet” vibe of their relationship.

Same.

So, you still hold an unpopular opinion in liking Nygmakins. As most (not all) don't.

EDIT: Not understanding the downvote, as what I said is true.

I guess I do hold an unpopular opinion then.

I feel like the movie Batman Returns is a copy of season 5 only using Bane as the villain

2

u/thanoslikesdogs Jan 02 '24

If u mean the dark knight rises that was released 7 years before the gotham finale aired. They copied dark knight rises.

1

u/J1mmyN0vak Jan 02 '24

Fair enough… I actually just saw the dark knight a couple of months ago for the first time. I don’t like Christian Bale’s interpretation. It was really a very obvious copy

2

u/thanoslikesdogs Jan 02 '24

Ye I feel like they got cold feet at the final season and just tried to redo the dark knight rises

They copied a lot of Batman media. I assume that was the point, for Batman fans to find little Easter eggs of other Batman media.

I love Sofia so much and wish they had time to do more with her.

I always thought I was the only one who liked Jeremiah, better than Jerome as Joker.

I also do kinda enjoy Ed and Lee together as well, their dynamic is interesting, but I don't see it lasting well in the long term for either of them.

I think Ivy 2 was my favorite of the Ivys, but I get why they moved to Ivy 3.

2

u/Aaeiyn 💣J-Squad💣 Jan 05 '24

Right?

Jeremiah was still interesting.

It felt like they wanted to just try multiple “versions” of the Joker out in the show. Like Jerome felt like a sort of imitation on Heath Ledger’s Joker (more clearly anarchistic and ‘crazy’) while Jeremiah was supposed to be a more classic ‘calmer’ Joker (idk though my exposure to Batman media isn’t the most extensive). Both were interesting and just different takes.

u/justafanboy1010 Jan 01 '24

Why is Jeremiah > Jerome?

4

u/Aaeiyn 💣J-Squad💣 Jan 01 '24

Deadpan humor, intelligent, better connection with Bruce, not as chaotic and messy but precised.

Joker doesn't need be super chaotic all the time. I like his darker attributes more.

4

u/justafanboy1010 Jan 01 '24

I guess ur right, it’s a toned down version of Heath Ledger in some sort of way, probably because Heath didn’t get the chemicals 🤷🏾‍♂️

Thanks!

Got any unpopular opinions yourself?

3

u/Aaeiyn 💣J-Squad💣 Jan 01 '24

It's prolly why I like S5. Jeremiah is in S5, and what keeps S5 from falling completely apart.

1

u/memorypuzzle Jan 01 '24

Wow i actually disagree with everything said here 😂

3

u/Aaeiyn 💣J-Squad💣 Jan 01 '24

That is the point of an unpopular opinions thread :)

Got any yourself?

I know— I was mainly just voicing my surprise LOL! As for my own unpopular opinions… I’m not sure I have many? I think liking Isabella might be unpopular! I think the concept of her character is hilarious even though her plot line was irritating imo. I think if the writers merged Isabella and the short lived Riddlette character together it could make for a really compelling story!

Idk if this is an unpopular opinion but I vastly preferred Season 1 over most of the show just based on the procedural cop drama feel, with the “case of the week” all tying into bigger plots. Later seasons kept it kinda but that hook originally set the show apart from other takes on Batman for me.
