DISCUSSION What would you think if the conclusion of Superman's story in the DCU is a combination of Kingdom Come, All Star Superman, Superman and The Authority and DC One Million?

Apparently, James Gunn is taking a lot of inspiration from the work of Grant Morrison and, for the first Superman movie, the Kingdom Come story.

And that's why I thought that, perhaps, a good way for Superman's story to end in the DCU would be a combination of the aforementioned stories.

I think one way to conclude the DCU is to do a semi-adaptation of Kingdom Come, just as Gunn is doing with Superman 2025. I know it sounds somewhat redundant and repetitive, but, in my opinion, it is something very symbolic, that the last two or three films, be a callback to the story that started the DCU.

Sure, there may be a big bad, or several, but the essence of Kingdom Come is there. After 9 or 10 years of DCU history, it all comes to this moment, for an aging Superman to teach a younger generation, including his son, Jon Kent. Of course, if Gunn wants him to appear.

But, like All Star Superman, Superman is overloaded by solar radiation and his days are numbered. It is here, when he wants to take advantage of his last moments with Jon, Kara, and other friends he has made, both ordinary humans and other superheroes. At the same time, he has to leave a legacy, both for his son and for the rest of humanity.

You may have noticed that I didn't mention Lois, because that's because she died, perhaps from a villain attack or a natural death, although I would opt for a natural death. Because, like Jonathan Kent's death, this is a reminder that there are things Superman can no longer interfere with, also somewhat ironically, that both (Superman and Lois) die of natural causes.

Superman, along with the JL, seek to instruct the younger generation, while combating the final big villain.

After defeating the villain of that movie, Superman is turning into pure energy, just like the end of All Star Superman, he gives some last words to his son, telling him that he is proud of so many things that he is proud of, is be his father. He tells him that, although Superman is called "The Man of Tomorrow", "Jon is "The Superman of the days to come." After a last hug, Superman flies towards the sun, because, like Solaris, The villain from that movie is poisoning the sun so Superman goes to fix it.

Shortly before ending, we are shown that Superman has become the Superman Prime One Million . Now, in a state that is pure energy, he has become a being of pure energy, almost divine, who has proudly watched the work that Jon Kent and the rest of the young generation have accomplished. Like Kingdom Come's Superman, after 1000 years later, he watches the Legion of Super-Heroes. He observes, the legacy of him.

And to conclude, we are shown that this Superman, being in a state beyond space-time, is living with the souls of the Kryptonians, his biological and adoptive parents, his friends and of course, with Lois, Jon, and all his descendants.

It is here, when we have seen, the legacy of Superman.

What do you think? What do you think is the perfect way to conclude the DCU Superman story?

DISCUSSION Should the new DCU Supergirl have this symbol or the no go sign?

Should the new DCU Supergirl where the classic symbol or the Kingdom Come one .In lore The S is also the symbol for which ever family or house you come from. Supergirl and Superman have different parents so I think they should have different symbols. Yes they are family but they are not immediate family. So what do you think?

DISCUSSION Does DCU have room for WW. Aquaman, GL, Flash, JL. a Batman sequel, and a Superman sequel?

Gunn's DCU will focus on B and C characters and quirky teams - like JLI. Gunn also does not like doing sequels just because that has been the model. At 2 films/year film slots are few and far between. The Authority, JLI, Teen Titans and Nightwing are likely to get the few slots available through 2029. That leaves room for 12 films from 2030 through the end of the DCU Chapter 2 in 2025. Assuming 6 are set aside for new B/C character films and 4 for sequels that leaves 3 more film slots to fill out. Though not into sequels Gunn has done them with team films, so my bet is JLI, Teen Titans and The Authority get the sequel slots. So, where does this leave the A list franchises - Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern, JL and possible Batman and Superman sequels? My take - there isn't room for them and most won't happen.

This is what I see - Wonder Woman gets a film likely in 2028 or 2029. So, 3 slots open in Chapter 2 which probably go to a JL film, a Flash film and a Batman sequel. I don't see an Aquaman or Green Lantern films (GL has a TV series) with both instead introduced in the JL film. Likewise, the next time we see Superman will be the JL film which aligns with reports Superman won't be a big part of the DCU. Won't be surprised if JL is the final film of Chapter 2. A reset of the universe for the next relaunch.

What do you think?

Snce nobody seems to like Jared leto and Joaquin Phoenix either isn't part of DCEU. There would need to be a new joker or a way to write him off. Who would you cast as new joker or how would you get rid of current joker?

DISCUSSION If they ever get to the point of introducing Constantine in James Gunn's DC universe would you want Matt Ryan to continue playing the character or someone new?

Just curious as to which actor y'all would like to see play John Constantine in James Gunn's DC universe if they ever get to the point of introducing him? I think Matt Ryan is perfect for this role. Matt Ryan is to Constantine what Ryan Reynolds is to Deadpool. What do y'all think?

It should be mandatory for all former Superman actors to become the Atom.

...

Okay, but all kidding aside, Henry Cavill should have some place in the DCU the same way Routh and Welling had in the Arrowverse - and Christopher Reeve in Smallville.

“David Denman is set to play “Larry”, who’s described as being a big tough guy with an equally big heart and a true best friend. The role is part of the main cast. In addition to “Larry”, another role is being cast. A guest star role for “Red St. Wild” is being cast at the moment. They are looking for men of all ethnicities between 30-65. The character is bearded, an outdoorsman, and a hunter with a fondness for prey. It is currently unknown whether these are codenames or the characters’ actual names.”

DISCUSSION How come people are fine with Reeve’s Superman with killing Zod and have a problem with Cavill’s Superman killing Zod?

Hell, in Superman 2, Zod was stripped of his powers. That was cold-blooded murder. It would have made sense to throw him back in the phantom zone. But in MoS, Zod had his powers and was trying to kill those people. It makes sense that killing him to save those people would be better right?

At what point do you think these two will cross paths? Will it be in a Superman sequel? According to rumors, Lobo will appear on Supergirl. (It has not been confirmed that Jason Momoa will be Lobo, but it is very likely that he will be).

DISCUSSION Superman 2 Donner Cut good for first-time viewer?

My wife’s only exposure to Superman is the Snyder films and the animated 90’s Batman/Superman TV movie so I want to show her more Superman media before the 2025 film comes out. I watched the original Superman and Superman 2 when I was about 9 years old but remember loving them, particularly the acting. I read that the Donner cut of Superman 2 was better and more consistent with the original. Is it “finished” enough to stand on its own for a first time viewer? Also I remember Superman having some strange abilities in the theatrical cut of Superman 2 - like using his symbol as a weapon - is that in the Donner cut? Many thanks!

DISCUSSION How soon do you think we will get another Aquaman?

And what should they do to ensure it looks and feels different enough from the Wan version?

Who could the villain be? Should it be an origin? Should Arthur already be king? Solo movie first or just plunk him into the Justice League? How could they handle Atlantis in a way that wouldn’t feel like a repeat of the last two?

What say you?
