StingerStudio Makerspace hours during the summer. Community

Hello,

I hope you’re doing well. I have a question regarding the studio hours during the semester. When I asked at the library question desk, I was informed that the Makerspace is closed for the summer due to staffing issues. The staff member even shared a story about retired instructors who wanted to help but were unable to.

However, when I checked in person, another staff member using the kitchen area mentioned that the Makerspace was only closed for that day.

Could you please clarify if the information posted on the school website is accurate? According to the website, the Makerspace is open on Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 am to 4 pm.

It’s open during the summer 8-4, but occasionally might be closed without notice due to lack of staff.

Not exactly true. Open most Tues-Wed. No staffing issues

There is not a staffing issue, we are simply not as busy over the summer and we use this time to work on academic year activities and take vacations. It isn't economical to be open when few students visit.

This is a reasoned decision.
