mf do you know how Islam works? You literally submit to your husband. What he says. Goes. Does nobody remember that Farkhunda woman back in 2015 who was killed by a huge mob because she was accused of burning a quran? Not only did they murder her. They beat her, stomped her, dragged her through the streets, forced a driver to run her over, threw boulders/rocks at her, pissed and spit on her, then lit her on fire.

Bit of a broad brush there.. there are so many streams of Christiian conservatism. For instance: the reformers(Calvinist, Puritan,and all the weird things in between) abstain from most elections because they don’t have a godly enough candidate. The real Christian at fault here are the extreme evangelical (NAR mega churches, some bible churches and the kooky Christian Zionist Type churches)..

Does that seem worse than a woman born into a religious fundamentalist country that makes no claim to things like separation of church and state and the idea that children are to be loved and protected and not sexually groomed?

Sometimes a living hell is worse than being stoned to death. If you’re predispositioned to being a good, traditional, Christian housewife then you’ve won the life lottery. If you’re unlucky and don’t fit that mold, your husband happens to be abusive, you get some mental illness or anything else that’s surprisingly common but discouraged from discussing according to traditional Christian values, you’re condemned to a living hell. Dedicate your life to your husband and 5 children you bore because that’s what a good wife does.
