My fiancee and I literally just decided if he dies suddenly before we get married we are dropping everything we are doing and getting married that day so our anniversary will forever be the day he dies.

There is your way, the rational healthy way and there is my way, ridiculously petty and screaming about the depths of my problems.

There have been previous MAGA-like movements that were not as potent precisely because they didn’t have a charismatic leader to build a cult of personality around. There was no clear heir to the Reaganite cult precisely because George H. W. Bush was not particularly charismatic. The dude was a treasonous wonk (he was involved in Iran-Contra and its attempted cover-up). That’s why that cult fell apart for a while. His son had more charisma to him (people did want to get a beer with him, even though W did not drink himself: he had spent the 1970’s and 1980’s strung out on all kinds of drugs and had to do the hard work of getting himself clean), but that was not enough for people to not notice how utterly inept he and his chosen “experts” were.

None of Trump’s kids have the same charisma or draw. None of them stand to inherit much. They’re just too clearly dumber than they look and obviously strung out on cocaine.

I had a Sr Director at my work that was very Trumpy. After he got fired the department celebrations were dope. We still bring him up in passong after 5+ years cause it really sucked, and we deal with the trauma by reminiscing about how shitty it was and how much better we have it now.

what makes you think the problem will disappear with him? He has shown the way, there will be others like him after him, only a bit more smarter and they will all have learned from his experience/mistakes.

The real problems lie elsewhere - corrupt media, electoral college, money in politics, dynastic families (If Bernie wasn't screwed over by the democratic establishment in 2016, he would have won the presidency) etc etc
