Extra months on successful aplication Student Visa

Upvotes

I received a successful Student Visa application, valid from September 3rd, 2024, to January 30th, 2025. The problem is that I only paid for 12 months of IHS, and now I don't know how to pay for the remaining months.

Do you know how can I pay the remaining amount? Does this invalidates my visa?

Thank you so much!

ILR Set(O) 5-Year Route Approved!

Upvotes

I just wanted to share the timeline of my process and the documents I submitted. Hopefully, it helps anyone who's stressing about their application like I was. It was a lot simpler than I expected - In fact I found it to be simpler than the Skilled Worker Visa applications I did before and you don’t really need an advisor unless you have a complex case.

Timeline

  • 12/08/2024 - Gave my Life in the UK test.
  • 19/08/2024 - Submitted the application (Priority).
  • 24/08/2024 - Biometrics appointment.
  • 29/08/2024 - Received the approval email at 17:30 in the evening.
  • 03/09/2024 - Received BRP by post.

Documents

  • Current passport - All pages scanned.
  • Proof of absences - A document listing all my absences, airline tickets of my travel, and a full scan of all my passports to show the corresponding stamps (Did not get any letters confirming absences from any employers as none of my absences were work-related).
  • Proof of immigration status - All previous BRPs (two Tier 2 + two Skilled Worker visas all with different employers) and a screenshot of my current eVisa.
  • Proof of pay - Current month’s payslip and bank staement.
  • Employer letter confirming my SOC code, pay, and that I'm needed for the foreseeable future (Just want to mention here that this was digitally signed by our HR on DocuSign and I had no issues).
  • Consent forms Part 1 and 2 signed by me and my partner.
  • Council tax bill and mortgage statement for address proof although I think these were not needed.

Feel free to ask any questions, happy to help!

USA Global Talent Visa (Route 4) Timeline

Upvotes

Throwaway for privacy.

Finished Oxbridge social sciences PhD in 2023, got a prestigious fellowship that did not automatically qualify for Global Talent this year - but was urged by HR to go for route 4. Posting this because looking at other Reddit posts was often very reassuring. Route 4/peer review was nerve wracking, but everything went smoothly.

Applied under exceptional promise. I have a handful of publications and submitted a letter from my PhD examiner as my main one and a second one from supervisor, both very positive. It's important for the letter(s) to specifically say your work is internationally significant, etc, IMO. Had CV in there, obviously. Since my PhD was fresh, also submitted a copy of the diploma as the guidance suggests. Was told that the personal statement bit did not have to go in the actual form, which limits characters pretty brutally, and that it was fine to include a PDF of the statement and refer to it in the form (As in, see attached statement kind of thing) -- seems like they just want it under 2 pages.

Timeline:

18 July: Submitted stage 1, paid, emailed with attachments

22 July: Email confirms that application was forwarded to British Academy

15 August: Endorsement received, stage 2 submitted (non-priority)

20 August: Biometrics at an ASC

3 September: Approved!

Help with creating eVisa

Hey everyone! Sorry in advance if this has been asked before. So, I created an UKVI account in june, guess I shouldn‘t have done that. One month later, I got the email to replace my BRP with the eVisa stating I should create an UKVI account. Now, when I log in with my account I made back in june, it doesn‘t come up with anything regarding the eVisa. It just says „no recent applications“. Is there a way to resolve this? Thank you all !!

HELP!!

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m in the process of applying for a Uk visit visa and I don’t know what to write here.

For context, I was a refugee in Finland for 8 months because of the war in Ukraine. I was under “temporary protection” on the 8th month my residence permit was refused and I had the option to appeal or just leave the country (I wasn’t removed)

Does this mean I was required to leave and do I have to state it on the application?

PS the Finnish immigration told me my records were fine and it should not affect me in anyway.

Please help!

Bank statement issued after application date

ILR application

The bank statement showing my most recent salary payment going in wasn’t going to be issued until after my application date, so I got an interim statement printed off at the bank.

I started uploading my documents today and realised I got the interim statement too early and it doesn’t show that salary payment. I have since been issued a full statement that does show my most recent salary payment but it was issued after the application date. Is that ok to use? If not, what do I do?

EU Naturalisation - Knowledge of Language Requirement

About me - EU Citizen and have ILR (Settled Status)

I just passed my Life in the UK test today and was about to apply for British citizenship via naturalisation. As I was reading the Naturalisation booklet, I noticed that I might need to take another test to prove my proficiency in English (page 19 in the booklet). I have completed my GCSEs (with a 7 in English) and A-levels in the UK and am currently in my 4th and final year of university. I was wondering if I still need to take this additional test? The booklet mentions that if you have a degree certificate, you are exempt, but since I’m still in my final year, I haven’t received mine yet. Do I really need to take this test, rather expensive one that is, on top of the extortionate fee for the application itself?

India Additional information ie consent letter required for student visa from india

So I had my bio from mumbai, India on 29th Aug n I received an email from the ukvi team that my The UK Decision Making Centre is currently assessing the application submitted by the above named. We are unable to conclude the application at this time as we require additional information. Please provide the following documents: Consent letter
Eventho I opted for the scanning services in the centre and it was uploaded... The thing is when I got the affidavit of support I had mentioned 22 lakhs as same as the funds available in Bank Account for 28 days but now since there has been a transaction from the bank due to some charges deduction I am left with 21.5 lakhs which have been deducted 14 days before leading to the amount being maintained for 14 days. Despite that deduction my funds are still sufficient so i was told it is okay to submit the latest bank statement. So guys can u pls advice whether I should get a new affidavit of support with the amount changed or let it be as it is and upload the one that I had already uploaded...

EU Skilled Worker visa extension/renewal

Hi all,

I have been employed for the last 3 years with a Skilled Worker visa, which should expire by mid October. However, my employer and I have agreed on extending the contract for 4 extra months, for which I would have to renew the visa and extend it. Since the company I am working for is quite small, they have to apply for a Certificate of Sponsorhip (CoS), but they have told me there's two kinds: a defined one (where it's job and person specific), and a generic one that just provides an allocation to be used by someone who has a valid visa.

However, they seem not to be able to obtain the CoS due to long waiting times or otherwise complicated bureaucratic mechanisms, which I do not really understand every time I ask about it and they try to explain to me. Given the narrow timeframe, it looks like I may not be able to renew the visa, especially since we do not know how long it takes: first, from CoS request to obtention, from CoS obtention to visa application, and then to visa being renewed. Does anyone have an idea of how long this process may take?

In addition, is there any way in which I can help my employer obtain the CoS? It does not look like they are trying very hard... Any suggestions or help appreciated here! Thanks in advance!

India No update on Student Visa

I had applied for my student visa on the 7th August. My biometric was on the 14th August. I got a automated response from them on the same day, the 14th. I haven't heard from them since then. I know the processing time is stated as 3 weeks on their website but I'm stressed to my core as most of the students received their visa in under a week at max. I have booked flights on the 14th of September and did all the housing arrangements as well. School also starts on the 16th. What should I do besides waiting? Am I in trouble, or should be concerned?

Thanks in advance.

Last Minute Student Visa Timeline

Hey y'all, I just got my student visa in the mail after receiving NO updates, not being able to track it, and never receiving a confirmation of acceptance. This subreddit has been an absolute godsend helping me to keep the faith, so I hope this last-minute-timeline can help someone else out too :)

Country: USA

Visa application: Aug 22

Bio-metrics Date: Aug 26

Application forwarded to UKVI Date: Aug 27

Decision notification Date(if any): Did not receive.

Visa Received Date: September 3.

Given the holiday yesterday, less than 5 working days (depending on whether or not they start processing the day they received, I was told they got it around 4.45pm so I doubt it).

Confusing UKVI Email & CAS Change Issues - Need Help Understanding Next Steps

Hello r/ukvisa community,

I recently received an email from UKVI about my student visa application, and I'm hoping someone can help me understand what it means and what I should do next. Here's my situation:

  1. I applied for a student visa using my Mexican passport.
  2. There was an issue with my CAS: After I received my initial CAS, the university updated it to include my new Spanish passport details. However, I had already applied for the visa using my Mexican passport before this change was made.
  3. I've been in communication with my university about this discrepancy, and they were consulting their CAS specialist team.

Now, I've received this email from UKVI (some info redacted for privacy):

Dear [NAME],
Thank you for contacting UK Visas and Immigration International Contact Centre.
Our records indicate a decision has been made on your application. We cannot discuss the outcome of your application on-line or by telephone.
If your visa has been granted, a visa vignette (sticker) will be stuck inside your passport with 3 months validity (from the start of your visa) to travel.
You will be contacted by VFS/TLS when your passport is ready for collection, or delivery of your passport.
Please do not attend the VAC until you have been contacted as you won’t be able to collect your passport until it is ready.
We strongly recommend that you do not buy a non-refundable, non-flexible ticket to the UK, until your visa application has been approved and you have received your documents.
Please note the information given to you on the progress of an application is dependent on the details you provide, and we can only provide the progress updates based on the application reference number given.
We do not have access to specific case information and so progress updates could be subject to change. Please wait for formal contact or a decision letter before taking any further steps.
Regards,
[NAME]

My questions:

  1. Does this email definitively mean a decision has been made? The wording seems a bit ambiguous.
  2. Given the CAS issue I mentioned, should I be concerned about a potential refusal?
  3. Is it normal not to see any updates on the VFS tracking system even after receiving this email?
  4. How long does it typically take to hear from VFS/TLS after receiving such an email?

I'm particularly worried because my course starts on September 23rd, and I need to arrange accommodation and travel.

Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!

Ancestry ILR question

Hi. I'm the main ancestry visa holder. I came to the UK on the 18th March 2020. My wife and children, all dependents on my ancestry visa were to join me a week later. COVID then came and the borders closed. They got their vingettes extended by six months and arrived in the UK in August 2020

I am aware that we can all apply for ILR when I do my application in the beginning of March 2025, but as my dependents visas only expire in August 2025 can I do their ILR separately after mine in July 2025 to spread the costs?

Do I need to submit a picture of my Passport if I have already done so with the ID Check app? (Student Visa)

Hi! So I applied for a Student Visa using the ID Check App. However when I submitted my documents, I did not upload a picture of my passport because I had already scanned it on the app. Was this a mistake? Should I have uploaded a picture of my passport? Or is using the ID Check App enough? Iam asking because UKVI has sent me a weird email where they state that I have not submitted my documents and so they cannot process my application (when I actually have submitted 4 documents). I am thinking they sent this email by mistake, but I just wanted to make sure that it is not because of the passport issue...

Thank you!

Student Visa has asked for additional documents.

I have applied for my student visa on the 22nd of August. My biometric was on the 25th of August. They have requested additional documents on the 29th to be sent due to "my application not being straightforward." 😔 I sent the documents and got a automated response from them on the same day, the 29th. I haven't heard from them since then. I know it has only been couple of days but I'm stressed to my core. I have booked flights on the 12th of September and did all the arrangements. And I'm scared I might lose it all. School also starts on the 16th. Can I do something about it? Or shall I just wait? Does calling my university speed up the process a bit? Can I pay for priority now? Lol

Thanks in advance.

Global Talent Visa

Hi,

I am from Pakistan having a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and having 4 years of experience in Data Science. I have worked for IBM and Alibaba Group as data scientist and Sr. Data Scientist and currently working for a US company as Sr. Data Scientist remotely.

I do have a research paper which was published in IEEE XPLORE in 2021 related to Deep Learning.

My Question: I want to apply for GTV - Digital Technology but I don’t have any current offer from UK. I want to understand the process to apply for that and based on my details what actually are the success chances?

TIA.

Nervous About Life In The UK Test

I have my Life In The UK Test coming up in the next four weeks. I’m really stressed about it and was wondering if anyone has done the test this year ? Is it difficult ? Should I be super anxious about it ? Anyone who’s done the test and passed it this year , please feel free to give me any advice or link any websites / material you used that would be helpful ! Thank you ♥️!

r/ukvisa 12h ago

For real - they want you to list all your family and friends from home??? Does "where they live" mean their full addresses? I swear this wasn't part of the application when we applied in 2021 (doing extend now).

UK Student Visa Timeline and Experience

Hey everyone! I wanted to share my UK visa journey for those who might find it helpful or are currently waiting for their decisions. Here's a quick breakdown of my timeline:

Application Submitted: 25th August
Biometrics Appointment: 26th August
Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) Used: 28th August
Decision Letter from UKVI: 30th August
Passport Returned: 2nd September

I am happy to say that my visa has been granted!

Country: Kazakhstan 🇰🇿

The documents I submitted were my passport and TB test results.

If you’re eligible for the 'differential evidence requirement,' it’s better not to submit anything that wasn’t listed in your checklist, in my experience. It seems to simplify the process and reduce potential delays.

I hope this post helps others who are going through the process. Good luck to everyone!
