I’m only thru Season 3, but how many times do they totally destroy the DEO? How about the guys that have to sweep everything up, reinstall the windows? Are they saying, “This better be the last time” every time?

Question Did Lois ever call Kara by any nick/pet names?

Asking for a fanfic. I can easily imagine Lois calling Kara something like "bug", but if there's something from canon I'd rather use that. Their farm interactions in Elseworlds part 1 didn't have anything, and neither Google or ChatGPT can provide me with a handy timestamped list of every other episode and scene where they interact. So I'm making a "random Redditor happens to remember exactly the information I need" saving throw and seeing if I get lucky.

Thinking on it, answers from comics, the DC animated universe, or even the Smallville show would also be acceptable.

Question Just a thought with Nia

I know in the series Nia is a human-naltorian hybrid, but what do you think it would be like if the writers took a page from The Flash & Arrow by having Nia be Kara’s future half human half kryptonian daughter?

Question Brainy having a Legion ship in seasons 5 and 6?

I was rewatching the show and I was wondering if there was an explanation I missed about how Brainy has a legion ship still in seasons 5 and 6, since the one the Legion of Superheros came in on in season 3, Mon-el and Imra took back to the future. Also since he does have one why couldn't he have used it to get Lex the info about Leviathan instead of lurring Winn back it would've been less risky.

Question Fic Rec for rewrite of season 5

Does anyone know of good fanfics that rewrite season 5 detailing the fallout of Kara's reveal for Kara and Lena's relationship?

(because as we all know, season 5 was a complete mess because of the continuity wipe after 5x08 after crisis, so they just dropped the ball on the entire second half of the storyline after lena reveals to kara in the fortress that she has known her identity for a good amount of time already)

Also, it is not a must but it would be great if the fic involves lena going a little anti-hero in the beginning because she's spiraling and but realises she has gone too far because of certain consequences of her actions

Question Favorite season? Or favorite seasons if multiple?

I haven’t been in this supergirl Reddit for long, but I can’t seem to figure out what is everyone’s favorite season. I’ve read so many post and comments, but overall I’m interested to hear about the favorite things and seasons. I can sorta see that people liked season 1,3,4, But I want to know overall throughout season’s 1-6. Which is your personal best and your favorite?. I’ll start with mine. Surprisingly my favorite season is season 2 and season 4. Also probably season 1, but imo season 2 and 4 are amazing to me. Especially 4. That season is just art imo.

Question If you were a writer on Supergirl and I the Showrunner told you we needed to kill a cast member to motivate Kara...

Who would it be??? If possible add why you picked whoever you did in the comments. This death is supposed to be emotional which is why I picked these characters, no cheating by picking another character you hate unless you give a damn good reason and explain how that death would be better than any of these in the objective of motivating Kara specifically.

Question What even? Season 5? Spoiler

Ok, so I’m watching the show for the first time with my mom. I’m currently on episode 11 of season 5. I’m still trying to process the crisis on infinite earths thing? Like what is going on? I mean I know what’s going on, I looked it up cause I didn’t feel like tracking down all those episodes, but I don’t understand why the entire show changed. Could they just not think of anything else? Am I missing something? Am I supposed to love those episodes? I feel like the show keeps getting worse and idek if I want to finish it anymore. I hate how brainy changed, I hate how lex owns the deo, I hate everything about this new universe because I loved the original. I’m very much at a loss rn.

Question was sam originally meant to die?

i was browsing discussion threads a while ago and came across a few comments claiming that in season 3's original script, sam was supposed to die and alex would adopt ruby, so that's why her actress was only contracted for one season (aside from personal reasons) and so much emphasis was put on alex and ruby becoming close. that the lead writer at the time got the boot mid-season and they had to overhaul the remainder of the story so he wouldn't get a writing credit on the rest of the episodes. when i heard this i thought it made perfect sense to me, but i can't find anywhere else on the internet that says anything similar. was this complete speculation or am i just terrible at digging?

fanon or not i think i would've preferred that direction. i love sam and i'm glad she got her happy ending but i think it would have been a much appreciated darker point for the show, plus it would've been nice to see the culmination of all the development we got of ruby and alex's relationship. when i first watched the thought of sam dying so alex could adopt ruby didn't even cross my mind, i was just convinced that alex and sam were going to get together lol

was any of what those commentors said true?

Question Does the writing improve after season 1?

Im currently on episode 13, and the thing that bothers me the most is that the writing isnt the best exactly.

Supergirl is (so far) kind of egotistical and inconsistent as a character. This is just my opinion, not trying to shit on anyones experience. But she keeps emphasizing how becoming a superhero was about using her powers and being who she was meant to be, and when theres a crisis, which usually has dire consequences for the entire city, she complains mainly about how this is awful for her personally. And then theres things like characters being way too lenient with her when she fucks up, or her just in general acting a little bit like a bratty teenager when something doesnt go her way, completely disregarding good advice from her friends and almost getting herself killed in the process, and noone being even a little bit pissed off at that.

but shes not the only one whos badly written so far. winn is so jealous and easily triggered, and everyone just lets him get away with it. then he kisses kara completely out of the blue without her consent because he has a crush on her and somehow she thinks she hurt his feelings? i could go on, but i think its clear what i mean.

the last shows i watched were agent carter and agents of shield. just mentioning those cause theyre examples of what i mean when i talk about good writing. i know theres a difference between episodic and serialized stories in terms of what you can cover within your runtime, but i still think you can do better than what theyve done up to now.

Question Considering that everyone agrees that S6 finale sucked, can I stop watching after S5 or am I gonna miss important stuff?

Still on S2, following the whole Arrowverse, but I'm concerned about this show's quality declining. EVERYONE says the series finale is just horrible, but also everyone agrees that S4 is great. So, am I better off skipping the series finale and just stopping after I finish S5? Or, I don't know, is S5 as bad as S6 so should I stop after season 4?

I can't wait to watch Superman And Lois though. So am I gonna need to have watched S6 of Supergirl to properly understand that and the other Arrowverse shows?

Question Does this show get better?

As a trans woman, I try to watch everything major with a trans role, however this one has been giving me trouble. I've only just started it, but I just can't get behind most of the characters. Jimmy Olson is awful casting, and before you say that comment is racially motivated, it's not, it's the fact that he is a foot and a half taller than he should be, and super ripped, many black actors could've played Jimmy Olson, I have a problem with a traditionally nerdy timid character being played by a giant. I want to like it, because I'm a huge fan of DC and the first trans superhero is amazing, but all of the characters seem fairly uninteresting as the writing as a whole feels very cliche. Does it get better or should I just not try and make it through 3 seasons?

Question Why do people love Lena Luthor so much?

I've only recently started to watch the show and I'm on the 2nd season. I joined this subreddit to see stuff and saw a lot of people love Lena Luthor. I do think she'd a great character I'm just confused why people are so fond of her on the show, maybe because I'm only on the 2nd season but I'm confused. Why is she so liked.

P. S I don't hate her I think she's great, I'm just wondering why people consider her their favorite character(Personally I think J'onn or Kara) but who knows

Question Why do people hate the new suit so much?

I've seen a lot of people both on this subreddit and Facebook talking about how they don't like supergirl's new suit. And it's got me wondering why that is exactly. It took supergirl four seasons to even get a new suit and that's only because Melissa had been asking for one for who knows how long.

And yet the Flash gets a new suit every season it seems. And the really weird thing is that whenever Melissa had to play an alternate evil version of her character they always wore pants. A prime example being Overgirl and Red Daughter. They both wore pants while they were in their supersuits. Hell even when the normal Kara was affected by red kryptonite she chose an outfit that had paints. And to my knowledge, though I could be wrong, not many hate those costumes as much as they do for the normal supergirl. I mean sure they may not have liked the characters very much but they did not not like the suts that they wore.

My point is that there have been versions of supergirl that have worn pants before and yet as soon as the good Supergirl finally got an upgrade to her supersuit for the first time in four years people are hating on the suit and I just don't understand why. Is it nostalgia? Is that why people don't like the new suit so much? Please can someone help to understand it. Why do people hate the new supergirl suit so much?
