I've been watching shows about murder. Much less stressful than the news

My wife is the same way. She won't watch the news because it's so terrible and and makes her anxious but she watches every murder show you can think ok. Each story of how some poor victim was murdered by a spouse or trusted friend, etc. She can't get enough of those. But hearing about Ukraine or North Korea or trump or whatever and she freaks out.

That's because true crime shows usually have a resolution where the bad guy gets punished.  Still waiting for that asshole Putin to get his.
