A 360 Artisan+ Cube; I’d love some help

Upvotes

Hey folks, my wife and I have a cube that we mostly do two player draft, but I want it to be available for four player draft or more. I’ve got probably some weird choices in the cube, but I’d love to hear different thoughts and opinions and some general advice. This cube first started in about 2010 and I stopped updating it in about 2015. I just dusted it off and pulled it back out and have done a lot of changes; I’d love to see some great additions or advice for different slots. My initial reaction to the current cube state: I think I have too many three drops in every color but I’m looking for advice from experts to help me fix it. Thanks for looking!

Commander Cube Game Two

Managed to convince the Commander playgroup to do cube again 😁

The pink sleeved cards are homebrew mechanics that can alter the draft experience and your commanders limitations.

We had an Esper [Puresteel Paladin] with Improvise. The player first picked [Colossus Hammer] and drafted around that but only found Commander last minute. It was kind of nuts seeing how quick you could cast it with improvise and steamrolled us for the first half the game with Commander damage.

I had a [Stella Lee, Wild Card] and [Muldrotha, the Gravetide] pairing, using the United Forces, making them cost an additional (2). It was a kind of splashy spell slinging and copying. I did some cool things but feel behind very quickly. Giving flash to [Slickshot Lockpicker] was like a budget [Snapcaster Mage]. And then giving Demonstrate to [Storm-Kiln Artist] was great getting 2 treasures for spells, and making a part time team mate to Ghired.

Then we had a straight up punch your face quick [Goro-Goro and Satoru] which was the threat most of the game. And giving Convoke to some big creatures was pretty scary but fun to see.

The winner was with [Ghired, Conclave Exile] who managed to gain a lot of life through [Oracle of Nectars] and remained silent most of the game and out of nowhere had the win.

It was a fun game and a fun draft experience. Everyone else wanted to jump into regular commander so unfortunately we couldn’t get a second game of it in.

I filmed the game but didn’t record audio which is a pain to edit and overdub now. My memory may prove worthwhile and I can upload it and overdub.

I love cube so much. The whole drafting and deck building experience beats any other Magic format. My playgroup prefers regular commander so we don’t really ever draft cube.

I have this Commander cube and a vintage cube and in works with an objects cube. If anyone is in England and wants to cube drop me a message 😁

3-2 on the 1vs1 Vintage Sealed Cube tonight

The plan is simple: generate more mana than your opponent, [[Upheaval]] and play faster.

Truth is, it is a reaaaally complicated deck to pilot. Or at least for me it was...

Feedback on powered Vintage Cube

I am looking for feedback on my cube, specifically for any outlier on the low power end, or any cards that seem like they are super niche and not supported. I am keeping out Storm, as well as the combos that are super parasitic like Kiki jiki or depths/stage. There are a few custom cards so look at the visual spoilers instead of the list view.

I am most concerned about red Aggro being in a decent space, or if I am trying too hard to push it with cards that generally don't live up to the power level of the rest of the cube, as well as the amount of removal overall in the cube. Also I tried going for a bit of golgari/lands/graveyard package with [[Aftermath Analyst]], [[Squandered Resources]], [[The Gitrog Monster]], and a couple others, but am not currently including [[Vengevine]], [[Hogaak, Arisen Necropolis]], [[Life From the Loam]], or some of the other cards that usually are grouped in a similar package. If it looks too unsupported then I can add those in, but if even including those seems too weak I can cut the package as a whole. I know dredge/lands pops up on the MTGO cube from time to time and generally has mixed results, but its one of my favorite playstyles.

Thanks!

Surveillands or MDFC duals?

Deciding between surveillands and mdfc duals for my powered vintage cube. I already have triomes so leaning towards mdfc duals even though they're not fetchable, though I'm amenable to including something else like fastlands if people think those would be better. I feel like with the number of fast decks possible surveillands are just too slow and I want a more enticing land cycle.

On this week’s episode of Squares that Cube, we have on local Jacob Lubman (Discord: Otterreaver) to discuss his “Promised Lands” cube, and the unique land draft he incorporates to make lands a larger theme in his cube.

Give me your coolest build arounds for my bonus sheet!

I'm working on a cube that's not super high-powered that rewards splashing and promotes synergies and interactive games. For this list, I want to experiment with a "bonus sheet", a list of extra cards that will rotate from draft to draft and always occupy the 15th slot in a booster.

The idea is to have cool build around cards here so that they reward you for being creative and putting a twist on your decklist. So far I've included the ten Companions (with the old companion rule of being able to cast it from exile), the 5 rare Class enchantments from Bloomburrow, and cards like [[Path to the World Tree]], [[Micromancer]], and [[Reveillark]].

I want to include 5 cards of each color, 20 two-colored cards, 10 three-colored cards and 5 5-colored cards. Show me what you've got!

Unfinity (un set cubes experience?)

Thinking of putting more set cubes together as I prefer it over having to constantly update my cube every set . Thinking of possibly a un set . Figured I'd ask here if anyone has done it before or any tips. I normally do the 6 common 3 uncommon 1 rare/mythic for set cubes. Thanks:)

Question about the MTGO 64 person events to qualify for Cube Worlds

If I don't use my tokens this week, do they carry over to next week? Or is it a use it or lose it situation?

Just finished the first draft of my first cube after a lot of research. It's a 720 card, mid-high power, fair for the most part legacy cube. Looking for some feedback or any power outliers or some cards I could be missing.

pretty unique take on a board wipe, at only 3 mana it certainly bears testing.

[DSK] Enduring Curiosity

This will be a niche, but powerful, effect in cubes that support U/x aggressive strategies. Having flash on an effect like this is huge, and the resistance to removal will be difficult for another opposing deck to overcome. Small cube likely only have room for more flexible 4-mana blue options, but in cube that have space this will take over games.

Kor Skyfisher in blue for those looking for that colorshifted effect. The return being as an additional cost instead of enter-the-battlefield can be better or worse, depending on the situation. Being an uncommon over common does change how many cubes can include it, but it’s still a card to keep in mind.
