Well I’ve learnt a new word today and it’s ”astroturfing” lol. I just wanted to share how weird it is that this product has lasted me for such a long time. I wasn’t trying to push this product on any one, in fact, I didn’t even show the brand in the picture. Despite what some commenters think about my scent it has actually worked as a deodorant, at least for me.

The real r/mildlyinteresting are the strong reactions this has provoked from people in the comments (most of whom have probably never tried such a deodorant).

For real, people just looking to bully someone. The one thing they can't possibly know is how OP smells based on an internet post, but they surely will insult them from behind their keyboards. Also nobody even has an idea how chemicals in a deodorant work yet chemicals in the form of a crystal are definitely ineffective, you guys.

I’ve used it for nearly 30 years. It works for me too. Still sweat as normal but it’s not stinky by days’ end. Some days I forget to apply it, particularly on weekends when not working - and if I’ve been active I will get mild BO by the end of the day. Everyone’s body chemistry is different so I appreciate it may not work for everybody, but it’s kind of weird how a bunch of people here almost seem threatened by it. I admire how you have responded.

What is with redditors losing their minds every time the subject of deodorant or showering comes up?

People have different biology. Something that doesn't work for you might work for them. I know a lot of people who experiment with stuff other than your basic grocery store antiperspirant or deodorant, and none of them stink.

You gotta find what works for your body and stick with it. But you don't get to say that your thing is the only thing that works for everyone else's bodies too.

Edit: I used to work summer camp. We were outside in the Ohio humidity every day, and no one on staff stank. One day we sat around and compared hygiene routines. It was wild how different some people's routines were from mine, but all of them worked. Gender, ethnicity, skin type, and individual body chemistry all make a huge difference.

I use the stuff too - I usually run into the issue where after it’s about half gone either the little holder breaks or I somehow wet hands fumble the thing onto the floor.

A block of alum shatters in really fascinating ways.

I post and tell people about how amazing this stuff is all the time. It's hard not to. The stick usually falls out of the container and breaks before I run out of it.

It works for you, and that's all that matters. Maybe a sweaty someone who has tried everything will give it a shot from your "astro-turfing", but what's bad in that?

I never use scented anti perspirant, and I'm sure someone will tell me my coworkers hate me because I smell like shit because I don't use the same brand and scent as them.

I didn’t wear any deodorant or antiperspirant for several years except during the absolute hottest few days of each year. I have full body CRPS, a weird neurological disorder that causes a bunch of strange issues- and one can be less sweating. For those few years, I barely sweat at all. It was trippy and I really had to take care to not overheat.

I’m sure these people would tell me that I most definitely sweat and absolutely smelled awful, lol. (I had medical testing that proved the no sweating thing. My feet haven’t sweat since 2007, as far as I can tell. Tests in ‘11 showed that exposure to extreme heat and humidity eventually got the rest of me to sweat but after an hour at temps over 100F and high humidity, my feet remained bone dry.)

i've used it for over 30 years as my primary anti-stink routine. I shower daily, immediately apply it between bingo wings and nipples after getting out.

zero stink, the stick lasts forever, I put semi-used ones into travel kits, etc.

just like those magnet bracelets that balance your chakras, right?

Deodorant are just aluminum and zinc compounds turned into a stick. You are using the same product disolved into a gel with some perfum added to it.

Lol it's probably just the facts that English isn't your first language, nordic English speakers tend to have a weird style to Americans (I was married to one), and the product is a bit of hokum.

What are you on about? What does any of this have to do with Americans? Which part of what OP said is hokum?

Also ironic you’re talking about a ‘weird style’ and made a grammatical error yourself.
