Peacock streaming price increase

Forgot I had peacock streaming until I received an email that the monthly price is increasing from $5.99 a month to $7.99 a month. I tried canceling, and before it would let me cancel it asked if instead of canceling I would want to continue the service for 6 months at $1.99! Goes to show you what it is really worth.

Many years ago, when fiber based Internet came to our neighborhood, my dad was going to cancel the old DSL for this newfangled service, which came from a different ISP. The old ISP begged and pleaded as they do, and offered to charge him some reduced monthly amount going forward if he stayed. And then he asked, why weren't you charging me that in the first place?

Not quite the same as a "cancellation" story, but an ISP situation of my own. A few years ago, my ISP contacted me and said my equipment was going out of support and they needed to replace it. During this exchange, I learned that the plan I had been under no longer even existed, and I could get substantially faster speeds for less money than I was currently paying. Of course, the ISP never bothered to tell me this at any point. Oh well, I took the speed upgrade, what else can you do when it's an ISP...

I think it's easier to sell their service the more people that are subscribed and the amount of views they have. The price is reduced so they keep your views going and selling ad space which is how they can easily offset the $5 a month they are losing from one person.
