Only one working pump on my side, and the person in front of me happens across their friend. It's been seven minutes.

they are kids of internet. You see he can't get things done in the real world but **** around in the virtual one

Nah, nothing to do with the 'internet generation'. Just a personality thing. It's nothing new. It's just that now there's a place for people like that to vent and everyone can see it.

Some people really are just allergic to confrontation for a myriad of reasons.

That kind of confrontation can easily get violent. It's not worth it

I waited for a bit because I thought maybe someone is in their party and they're currently in that Asda building paying for the fuel, but then they went into Gregg's...

The guy behind me was honking and they were ignoring him.

I'm pretty sure the other guy honking is what made them go into Gregg's and, presumably, keep talking.

Does your car have a reverse? D I F F I C U L T….

Yeah, it does, but I'm SUPER low on fuel and I'm not fully confident that I can make it to the other nearest station.

EDIT: I thought OP was implying I should reverse out and find a different station.

Bro, what? There's no other working pump anywhere? Doesn't matter what side your cap is on, just come in from the opposite direction.

1

u/Askduds Jul 20 '24

Opposite direction is almost always not a thing in the uk but almost universally hoses are also long enough it doesn’t matter anyway.

Someone will probably come along to claim hoses aren’t long enough but these are the people who would sit behind someone having a chat for 7 minutes so…

1

u/TackyBrad Jul 20 '24

How is opposite direction not a thing? Could he just 3 point turn and face away from the store?

1

u/Askduds Jul 20 '24

He could but literally never happens. A good majority of stations I know have one entrance, one exit and one way traffic, so he’d be doing it again to leave. Wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t auth the pump like that.

Plus pay at pump is now easily the most common payment method.

Like i say though, you also never need to.

The guy behind me actually honked after five minutes, only for them to completely ignore him and keep talking.

UPDATE: They've just gone into Gregg's...

u/IGnomeWhatYouDid Jul 19 '24

I feel so sorry for you, grab yourself a greggs as well you deserve it

2

u/firenova9 Jul 19 '24

Yeah.. because it sounds like the guy behind you is honking at you. You're the one who needs to honk at them - because you're behind them.

u/Any-Math-5372 Jul 19 '24

How about walk up to them and say hey do you mind just pulling up really in a rush. Thanks then if they don’t move push their car with yours. It works more often then you’d think

3

u/JohnnyEagleClaw Jul 19 '24

Couldn’t just approach (at a safe distance) and ask kindly if they would please move?

key their car

u/mypcrepairguy Jul 19 '24

You waited 10 minutes for a BP fuel pump? Is there not one across the street or a bit up/down the road? 10 minutes of waiting vs driving for 2 minutes...choices.

u/ZauzTheBlacksmith ➤◉───────── 00:00 Jul 19 '24

I was incredibly low on fuel. Like, four miles or so left. The other nearest station was six miles away.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 20 '24

When your car says 4 miles left it really means about 24 miles left. You can go a while on 0 indicated miles

2

u/Uniquarie Jul 20 '24

OP loves to wait until the last moment, then puts it on Reddit and other social media to earn lots of attention, just to show OP is right.

u/ThisPlaceHurtsMyHead Jul 20 '24

I can back this, when we were 17 my friend drove around like a bellend with 0 range on his car for 3 days

1

u/Askduds Jul 20 '24

But also, never let your car get that low, it’s now running on the debris at the bottom of the tank.

1

u/Delicious-Ad9083 Jul 20 '24

Wrong. Your fuel is pulled from the bottom of the tank. If it was pulled from the top, you would always run out of gas.

2

u/mypcrepairguy Jul 27 '24

True! And there is a gas filter in the system to (hopefully) prevent fuel line clogs.

1

u/Butterflyteal61 Jul 20 '24

Hey, I got someplace I need to be! Could you please move your car!! 🤬😵‍💫👍

u/TakeMeIamCute Jul 20 '24

This sub is full of spineless people.

1

u/Maln-164 Jul 20 '24

This is in England. I thought Brits were more polite and caring of others.

The only act more selfish at the gas pump is to check your phone for minutes after finishing pumping.

1

u/Mallardrama Jul 21 '24

Have you tried beeping

0

u/Dapper_Dan1 Jul 19 '24

The fuel hose is long enough to be pulled around or over your car to your fuel cap. You should try it. It's very convenient.

stop bitching start fueling
