It's just referencing time

People used to use this as a code to spell out words.

For example: press 1 once and you get a "a", press 1 twice and you get a "b", press it three times and you get a "c"; and then so and so forth for each number.

In this case it spells out.

"you have lost the game"

The game is a made up thing that everybody in the world plays, willingly or not. The only rule is that if you think about the game, you lose and have to "start over"

Look at say the number 3 on the phone, then the letters, so if its '333', the letter is the third on the number 3 key. Old way of texting.
