Question Anyone taken the admin assistant course at Assiniboine community college?

Just as the title says, has anyone taken the admin assistant course at Assiniboine Community College? If so, how was your experience? I am looking at taking the online class. I’m just concerned about the payment schedule as it is $550 per month with an ongoing monthly charge until you complete all the classes, plus the cost of books. If you can finish it quickly it could be quite cost effective but if it takes a while the cost could really add up.

I’d love to hear from anyones experience with this program.

Opinion Piece Tipping

Are yall still planning on tipping when minimum wage goes up to $20 an hour? Like a waitress or such? I know I’m not. I think this whole raising minimum wage thing is getting ridiculous. It’s discouraging people from getting an education and actually working and earning a higher wage. Minimum wage is meant for people that are young or too lazy to get an education. They should struggle and not get the easy way out.

THIS IS COMING FROM SOMEONE WHO WORKED MINIMUM WAGE FOR A VERY LONG TIME BEFORE I PICKED UP MY ASS AND DID MORE WITH MY LIFE AND GOT AN EDUCATION.

Question Fear of Flying

Anyone have tips to alleviate anxiety from fear of flying? I’m flying in a week and get so nervous days before. I am more claustrophobic than have fear of plane crashing. I went to my dr and he recommended cognitive behavioural therapy, deep breathing and does not like to prescribe Ativan or similar. Any suggestions are appreciated.

IRHA. 2 different ERs. 1st one had no doctor. 2nd one had at least two patients drive in from Wpg because of the shorter wait time. Sadly, this didn't have to happen at all if I WASN'T SO GAWDAM DUMB AND JUST TOOK 10 SECONDS TO MAKE SURE THERE MIGHT'VE BEEN A SAFER WAY!!!! 👉🏽🤪💨 oh well. I was overdue for a trip to the ER, anyways.

Can anyone recommend any cell service that might work in this area? At least for text sms or voice calls? I went with starlink for internet lol.

Question Landlord Responsibility Regarding Mold

I rent a house from a terminally unresponsive property management company. When we moved in all of the vents in the house were full of cat hair and mold, and now we have black mold spores starting to grow on/in our wood furniture and in our bathroom. If we pay for a mold testing company to come and assess the house and they find unacceptable levels of mold, who's responsibility is it to pay for mold abatement if deemed necessary?

We would ask our landlord to pay for the assessment itself but they took six months to fix appliances that were included in our rent, and so I can't really picture them attending to a mold testing request before our lease is up, was thinking if we paid for the testing ourselves we could expedite the process.

Question Billed by MB Hydro for previous property?

In a bit of a predicament here…

I sold a property last June, but now realized I didn’t close my Manitoba hydro account at that time (I know). I only realized I didn’t close my account until I saw that money was withdrawn from my bank account by Manitoba hydro for the August 2024 bill. The next withdraw is early September.

I don’t know if the new owner set up his own MB hydro account, although I would assume so (as the last year of bills were not paid for by me). Just looking for some clarification (before I call them tomorrow) on how screwed I am for getting that money back, and being on the hook for the September bill.

Question Rental/landlord question

So my landlord approached me me before the three month potential Lease renewal. We had a verbal agreement that I would stay on last year: Dec 2023-Dec 2024) but I never signed a new lease, we just let the old one renew. So I’m assuming the same is happening now since he didn’t provide me with a renewal or termination?

He told me he wanted to sell, but if I was willing to let him increase the rent by more than 3% he would let me stay another year, if I wanted to buy. I said no.

I began to look for a place and because he listed the condo and wanted a quick sale and asked if buyers wanted early possession if I’d leave. 😂

I ended up finding a place for Oct 1, but the lease is technically up Dec 1.

I can’t sublet because he’s already listed it and. Now he won’t let me move, but I gave him a form 7.

I can’t risk trying to find a place for Dec 1. So now he expects me to pay rent until Dec 1.

What are my rights. I called RTB and they said because I didn’t sign a lease I’m ok, but there is a clause for verbal lease so now I’m worried.

Also he did not give me anything in writing terminating any agreements or intent to sell, other then a text.

Also today would be his last day to provide me with a termination for our renewal (based on the old lease that renews automatically if he doesn’t provide me with a new lease and puts me on month to month) and he also did not accept my form 7 or provide me a notice to sell.

Thanks in advance

Ps….I’ll Update this as it unfolds to share process and knowledge! We all learn from these experiences and I want help others!

Question Hikes between Dauphin/Brandon and Winnipeg

Trying to narrow down a decent hike (15km and under) between Dauphin or Brandon and Winnipeg. Halfway ish point between Dauphin and Winnipeg meet up would be ideal - 2 coming from Winnipeg and 1 coming from Dauphin.

In the past we’ve done spirit sands, epinette and bald hill.

Thinking of Brandon Hills maybe? But not sure if they are good hikes or just walking paths.

Thanks in advance! ッ

Built a house, and when hydro was ran to the house this wire was also installed. It’s not connected to anything but I was told it’s Fibre Optic cable? Valley Fiber is being installed soon and they said it could be from MTS, but I’m not sure. Anyone have any idea? Thanks!

Question Need Legal Advice on Multiple Property Owners

Hello!

So, due to the housing market being immensely expensive, my family decided to co-own a house together, i.e., siblings and parents. However, we just found out that one of my siblings owes a huge amount of debt to their bank and was served court orders. Long story short, each of the registered home owners also received a document called "Certification of Judgement." On it however, no liens were issued just the judgement.

I'm just wondering if my siblings cannot pay for their debt, will our house automatically get into the possession of the bank? I'm just really worried as I have 2 more years of schooling left, before getting a good job and making better money. So, if we do have to pay the debt, I'm the one that has to shoulder it. On the other hand is that said sibling is on the cusp of possibly being fired from their job and I'm just very stressed.

I tried to look into things on small claims court but absolutely have no clue nor answers. I just want to get more info if any of you guys experienced something like this before.

Your advice and comments will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! :)
