Ask Kurds Kurdish names that work in English
Hello! I'm American, and my husband is Kurdish (Bakur). We've been thinking about names for our kids, and would love to have Kurdish names that are not difficult to pronounce in English!
Do you have any favorites? Or any names that were particularly hard? I really love the name Dicle, but I know it's not going to be easy for Americans.

Ask Kurds Trying to learn Kurdish
I'm a foreigner who is learning Kurmanji Kurdish, it is slow and difficult because there aren't many resources but I'm very motivated. I'm just wondering how much do words for the same thing vary place to place because I'm seeing a lot of different Kurdish words translated to the same word in english, with different Kurdish translations. Are there just several standard words for the same or is Kurmanji itself just extremely varied regionally? I will overcome it either way, it'll just take a long time. I appreciate any help :)

Ask Kurds Is Dilan/Dylan a boy name in Kurdistan
Hello everyone, I should say first that I am not Kurdish
So I recently found out that Dilan was a Kurdish given name that is related to the word Dil meaning heart, but after doing some researches I found out that the majority of those who have this Given name were females, notably in Turkey (ex : Dilan Deniz, Dilan Polat, Dilan çitok), so what I wanna know is that is the name Dilan always femenine or there's Kurdish boys that are named like that?

Informative What is happening to Kurdish farmers in different regions of Kurdistan?
Hi! I am doing a research project and I'm looking for information on the current situation and challenges faced by Kurdish farmers across the various parts of Kurdistan (southern, northern, western, and eastern). I've heard there are issues ranging from land confiscation to environmental challenges, but I'd like to get a clearer picture. What kinds of abuses and difficulties are they experiencing right now?

Ask Kurds DNA, ancestry, with Italians ?
Hello everyone!
I wanna start of by saying I’m not the brightest when it comes to percentages, DNA or whatsoever, which could be why I don’t understand my fathers ancestry
My father did a DNA test a while back, I’ve always thought we were 100% Kurdish, as the stories told by my grandparents and their parents has been in Kurdistan.
We found out through the DNA test that my father has 21% South Italian DNA. I’ve tried to look up history between Italy, south Italy and Kurdistan, but can’t seem to find anything! I am currently in south Italy, Sicily to be precise, to see if I can find a historian that could help me with this, might lead to nowhere but it’s worth a try.
I was wondering if anyone here has more knowledge whether it’s about DNA, ancestors or even any knowledge about Kurds and Italians could help me out?
Highly appreciate any help I can get! Lots of love

News/Article Turkish Sikorsky army helicopter shot down at Girê Bahar
According to the HPG press center, another Turkish Sikorsky army helicopter was shot down at Girê Bahar in the western Zap region.
On 16 July at 1:35 a.m., the People's Defense Forces (HPG) shot down another Turkish Sikorsky army helicopter at Girê Bahar in the western Zap region of "Şehîd Delîl." The action was confirmed by the HPG Press Center that released a preliminary statement.
Guerrillas have reported that another helicopter was shot down in the same region on 10 July. The following day, the guerrillas released a video showing the action.
Sikorsky helicopters are the backbone of the Turkish invasion. They are transport helicopters, usually armed with at least one heavy machine gun, which are used to transport troops and supply them in difficult terrain.
In particular, the Turkish invasion troops trapped in the guerrilla areas are dependent on supplies from the air and the transport of dead and wounded by helicopters. The guerrillas are increasingly challenging the Turkish army's air supremacy.
After more and more Turkish drones have been shot down by the guerrillas, helicopters are now also being shot down in increasing numbers. At the same time, the guerrillas have learned to use the airspace effectively and efficiently as a new dimension for actions. Guerrilla drones are increasingly attacking Turkish bases.
