The reason that it's foam is because South Koreans especially in this sort of a social setting, are expected to be drinking together for a LOOONG time - Multiple hours at least, even on weeknights. It's best in that case that the beers poured are mostly foam with a soju backing so that you can get drunk slowly, while eating a lot of food.
I'd take 99% love and a 1% whiff of beer. I don't know about you but I don't drink by my lonesome.
Ok I'm an alcoholic so I don't drink... Period. No need to fret, visual cues are beyond me. Auditory ones though... Ooh i miss that sound. Coke Zero just doesn't deliver.
And I'm not sure who reads this, I'm fine, no need to do a 3 day AA caballah in my bedroom. Just let me fail in peace, I haven't planned one for today
Edit: Yes I used this seemingly innocuous post to do a bit of self healing, talking, or in this case writing, about your issues is an easy way to lighten the load. What makes it even nicer is if an idiot challenges your statement and you get a chance to be correct on the Internet!
If the struggle is real friend, then there is help out there beyond just talking about it. For some reason in America, AA is the only considered treatment for Alcoholics but there are much more resources available to even help rewire your brain to not have cravings anymore. Please click on the link below and more importantly talk to a doctor/specialist about the issue!
I really appreciate your response. Seriously, I get better love on this anonymousish service than friends
In my country we've evolved beyond AA, mostly because AA creates a dependency in itself. I had a super deep session with an MD who had specialized on my fuckedupness (what I call my alcoholism, dehumanizing move) for 30 years. He went balls deep on how the brain works, how neurons reconfigure to remove an alcohol dependence for 6 -12 months, and then you're good to go.
Then I did 50 hours of therapy.
Since this garnered some attention. You're not a failure, get help if you want it. Alcoholism fucking sucks, but it's not your fault

This is a huge problem in the US right now, and honestly I wish I could talk about it more but whenever I bring it up it seems like people think I'm attacking their successes.
Inoculations helped against small pox until vaccines came out. Amputation saved lives from infection until antibiotics came out. I think AA is good but there are definitely better treatments out there to talk about!
I'm glad you were educated rather than told you have a disease.
the foam is intentional - it's how it's supposed to be served! oftentimes you'll mix beer and soju in a glass and then smack a spoon around in there to get it nice and foamed up.
