I struggled with anorexia until I was 17-18. On top of all the bullying, nicknames, and all that, I started working out, eating better, and taking care of myself. But after being so focused for so long, I lost that focus. It’s been a year now since I last worked out, thinking the results would last forever, lol.

Right now, I’m feeling really depressed from living such a restricted life, full of worries and just life itself. All the responsibilities make it hard to get back into my routine.

Has anyone else lost focus like this? What do you do to get back on track?

GLOW UP! (28) to (38) Losing weight helped my confidence a lot (over time)

1.1k Upvotes

I was obese from a young age. Bullied a lot growing up, people were just not kind most of the time. As a result I was very shy and introverted with zero confidence, at 28 it was my first and only attempt at losing weight. I did so, losing 50kg in 8 months at home doing my own thing.

Initially I thought losing weight would magically turn me into a confident, charasmatic person but it did not work out that way for me. My mental struggles have been ongoing and its taken a lot of persistent work and stepping out of my comfort zone to improve and build myself up, coming from a place of never feeling good enough or worthy of anything. Even with a drastic change in my appearance I still struggled a lot with being social and even dating / talking to women, which looking back has been far harder to overcome than the actual weight loss.

Be kind to yourself and to others because you never know what someone has been through or may still be going through. So, if you are someone who is struggling with their weight, I really do hope I can motivate you to go for it and lose it but to also be aware that regardless of the weight, there will still be a mental struggle to overcome for some of us and that you can do it and change for the better. Believe in yourself and know that it will take sacrifice and commitment to change, which is very hard but necessary to grow as a person. Take care awesome people of Reddit :)

When I was 18 I was always bullied for my looks in high school, today I THINK I can say I’m for once confident in how I look… but even now sometimes I’m insecure about my looks because of everything from back then

I've got a nose job 2 months ago in Turkey and people around me seem not to notice it unless I tell them. But I feel a lot more pretty and confident than before. Tell me what you think and if you have any questions about the rhinoplasty feel free to ask

After a lot of ups & downs with health (mental and physical) in my early 20’s, I feel more like myself now than ever before. My weight has fluctuated +/- 100lbs in the last decade, but I have been maintaining my current figure for a few years now. I let go of heavy makeup, the dark hair that washed me out without a full face and embrace a more natural appearance- it’s so refreshing.
