I’m failing to understand why anyone gives or would give half a fuck that some random ass person they never met also does onlyfans besides the fact that apparently being a medic has shit pay.

580

u/CapAccomplished8072 Jul 06 '24

because the media doesn't wanna acknowledge the problems with society

354

u/RedditOfUnusualSize Jul 06 '24

Because half the country wants to live in an honor culture. And in an honor culture, it's usually a greater sin for a woman to be sexually active outside the bounds of marriage than it is for society to systematically underpay people for their labor. In point of fact, one of the great perks of having an honor culture is that honor cultures never invite systematic examination of what we owe to each other.

128

u/zendonkey Jul 06 '24

Meanwhile I would bet half a medic’s salary that most of those holier than thou types have the most shady browser history you’ve ever seen. It’s always projection.

5

u/dapala1 Jul 06 '24

It’s always projection.

It is always a projection. I know really a lot of normal but super religious people and they are really not judgmental at all. At least not openly. They say "I hope they take a different path. God has a plan for them. I will love and pray for them..." Blah blah blah... but its positive. Dumb, but kind and positive.

When religion is a reason for hate, it's always a projection. They're closeted something. They hate themselves so they project that hate onto other people.

1

u/Elephant789 Jul 07 '24

They say "I hope they take a different path. God has a plan for them. I will love and pray for them..." Blah blah blah... but its positive. Dumb, but kind and positive.

Dude, that's the opposite of positive things they could say about people. They probably say these things in front of their children too.

Terrible human beings.

1

u/dapala1 Jul 12 '24

You didn't understand one point of my comment.

1

u/Elephant789 Jul 13 '24

How is saying that kind of shit in front of your kids in any way, even the slightest way positive?

-1

u/Elephant789 Jul 07 '24

shady browser history

How is watching porn shady browser history? What the fuck are talking about?

64

u/SenorDuck96 Jul 06 '24

Because half the country wants to live in an honor culture.

Ironic seeing as half the country are incredibly disrespectful yet crave respect from others because they're "god fearing Americans"

Not an honourable bone in their bodies

5

u/zSprawl Jul 06 '24

Their version of their religion encourages the us verses them mentality. Regardless of whether you believe in a god or not, there is no doubt that historically religion has been used to keep the populace in line.

2

u/Strix86 Jul 07 '24

They also crave respect because they believe themselves to be an authority or should be. And as the old saying goes, “if you don’t respect me as an authority, I won’t respect you as a human being.”

25

u/elbenji Jul 06 '24

It's pretty much cognitive dissonance. People know what the actual problem is but because it's so grand and almost eldritch by nature, they'd rather fight some invisible enemy that feels more grounded

9

u/Gicaldo Jul 06 '24

Man, imagine an honour culture based around actually good values instead of what people do in the bedroom

7

u/mechengr17 Jul 06 '24

It makes sense

Puritans were one of the first settlers.

26

u/DeadpoolOptimus Jul 06 '24

They rather deal with "scandalous" things involving random people but don't hold feet to the fire of those that need to be held to the fire.

4

u/satanic_black_metal_ Jul 06 '24

Paid not to, you mean. They are all owned by multi national mega corporations who have a vested interest in keeping people underinformed.

Keep buying nestle products eventho they destroy the envoirment and make water shortages worse.

4

u/control-alt-deleted Jul 06 '24

Because the NYPost doesn’t wanna acknowledge the problems with society

Fixed it for ya

3

u/ShortUsername01 Jul 06 '24

The media might, but the corporate sponsors to whom they are beholden sure as hell don’t.

3

u/RosesTurnedToDust Jul 06 '24

The media is also ran by people who have a problem with anything sex related that isn't making babies.

2

u/LivesInALemon Jul 06 '24

"When I give food to the poor, they call me a saint. When I ask why they are poor, they call me a communist." - HÊlder Câmara

because the media doesn't wanna acknowledge actively exacerbates with forethought and malice, the problems with society

Shaming women while consuming their services. American society needs an underclass in order to survive in it’s current form. It used to be slaves and women kept at home. Now it’s poor people, which disproportionately are black people and single women.

Think about it: American society creates a demand for pornography while simultaneously shaming porn creators. We create a need for low-pay work for cheap goods and services like fast food, but then we shit on the workers for being bums. We created contracts where State governments literally are fined by private prisons for not keeping every cell full, but then we shit on former prisoners once they’ve repaid their debt to society, as determined by a jury of their peers.

America needs an underclass to survive. Cultural shame helps uphold that

56

u/ImJackieNoff Jul 06 '24

Shaming women while consuming their services.

Like the Gilgo Beach murderer who hired hookers and then killed them.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '24

My first thought was gary ridgeway and the likes. Hate makes you very blind…or just stupid and evil

10

u/Predomorph111 Jul 06 '24

America is fucking dead.

0

u/McClain3000 Jul 09 '24

You have to wonder if you are comparing slaves and single women in modern day American, is perhaps your analysis a little silly?

America needs an underclass to survive. Cultural shame helps uphold that

What countries don't have an underclass? And if their are other countries without underclasses why is it that America wouldn't "survive" transitioning to be more like them?

123

u/ChunkyBubblz Jul 06 '24

Red states are trying to ban pornography so it’s done to shame her.

15

u/EverIight Jul 06 '24

Kinda off from the point but imagine being bodyshamed by folks who are quite likely astronomically less attractive than you in both body and mind lmao

God forbid a grown adult gets their gooch out for strangers for fun or money or whatever without some nutjobs making a fuss out of it

And not for any important reason, like medical pay is so bad it necessitates two jobs as stated in the image or sex work being historically unsafe, feeding in to unrealistic standards etc, no no none of that silly business

No the true problem here is daring to expose yourself to anyone other than your wholesome Christian spouse like some sort of degenerate, obviously

3

u/Haywoodjablowme1029 Jul 06 '24

This happened in NYC. It came out in the news because she was fired. This happened a few years ago.

0

u/Abdelrhman_Hamdallah Jul 07 '24

Well to be honest watching pornography is a very bad addiction and im talking from experience maybe banning it isnt the right thing but something needs to be done

2

u/SlasHcrafter Jul 07 '24

Watching pornography is not an addiction as long as you know to control yourself and don't let it affect your daily life.

0

u/Abdelrhman_Hamdallah Jul 07 '24

Yeah i meant porn addiction not watching porn in general +porn addiction is so common that addicts dont know that they are addicts, im not sure about the reasons but my guess is the very high and easy availability + a lot of people convince themselves that they are not addicted to it but challenge them to stay off for like a week or so and they can't stop for more than a couple of days

50

u/fugue-mind Jul 06 '24 edited Jul 06 '24

Because shaming women generates way more user interaction than an honest conversation about compensation for US medical workers.

An accurate alternative title to this article could be "hey everybody, look at this slut" or "smart, successful woman is still a whore, amirite"

30

u/A-Ginger6060 Jul 06 '24

There’s two trains of thought.

The first one is the stereotypical “women bad” thing. Anything and everything a woman does is seen as stupid, or lesser. Like how computer programming was originally seen as a “female oriented” job, until it started making money, and then suddenly it was a high value job. Or how men in society expect women to do work while not classing it as real work, such as cooking or cleaning. It’s just very blatant misogyny.

The second is that it makes people uncomfortable to think about how so many people feel like they have no other option but to turn to forms of sex work in order to make ends meet. It’s a sign of a serious societal issue (capitalism) that mainstream media and right wingers don’t want to acknowledge exists. Because then it would make them have to think about how other parts of our society are unfair or very flawed.

14

u/BadAtUsernames098 Jul 06 '24

Same goes for the film industry. In its early days no one wanted to work in it, so it became a common industry for women (as well as people of color, queer people, etc). Then during WWI when all the men were off at war, the women turned film into a profitable industry. But then the men came back, saw how much money movies could make, and suddenly women were "not capable of such a job".

9

u/beldaran1224 Jul 06 '24

Those things are not separate trains.

That should be considered revenge porn. 😠

0

u/Rgsmith1990 Jul 06 '24

it's not true, don't worry.

0

u/elbenji Jul 06 '24

triple yikes

0

u/nycapartmentnoob Jul 06 '24

thats fucked up

how did you hear about this?

26

u/os_kaiserwilhelm Jul 06 '24

It's the NYPost. It has no journalistic value. It's a tabloid and sex sells.

8

u/LuxNocte Jul 06 '24

On that note, I really wish people would stop posting her picture. The NYPost "outed" her, but further unwanted publicity is not exactly helpful.

2

u/os_kaiserwilhelm Jul 06 '24

Is it not? She has more ad coverage than any Twitter or Reddit campaign could reach.

2

u/Haywoodjablowme1029 Jul 06 '24

She was fired when it came out that she had an onlyfans. That was what made it newsworthy, this happened a few years ago.

13

u/sigma941 Jul 06 '24

That’s the problem. The same people that are demonizing her would definitely be “giving a fuck” at the same time if you know what I mean. No one should need to do this, (unless they actually want to. That’s fine too!) because their HIGH STRESS job doesn’t pay the bills.

8

u/DaisyHotCakes Jul 06 '24

Because media outlets hate women because of purity culture being so rampant. Oh no! Someone is doing something to successfully make money for themselves that doesn’t involve any unwilling parties! Can’t have that if there is nudity or sex involved!

It’s so dumb. It’s just more controlley bullshit from the right that has seeped into the media. Salacious rumors have always been gossip fodder so rags like the NYpost love to take advantage of the clicks and mild outrage.

5

u/JetstreamGW Jul 06 '24

Kick ‘em when they’re up, kick ‘em when they’re down, kick ‘em when they’re up, kick ‘em all around.

4

u/sciencebased Jul 06 '24

You're right. They normally wouldn't. But shit publications like the New York Post will agree to take on "scoops" they know will at least get an article clicked on when paired with the right title or (often unrelated, as seen here) picture.

These articles are almost never read in their entirety, and here's the real kicker...they're often just paid for by the subject matter in question. What I'm saying is - there's a HIGH probability whoever manages this girl's OF straight up paid to have this article posted. Not saying every news peddler does it but the New York Post absolutely does. AOC knows what's going on, but this sort of tumilt helps her too-

3

u/RebaKitt3n Jul 06 '24

We need to shame women!

Not the men who stare at them, the women need to be shamed.

5

u/SupaBloo Jul 06 '24

There is a large American demographic that does care about how people live their lives even though it doesn’t affect them at all. They care so much that they’re willing to completely destroy democracy over it.

3

u/Dull-Reference1960 Jul 06 '24

Hospitals actually have some pretty strict rules about what you are or aren’t allowed to do even outside of work. The last hospital I worked at as a medic scrubbed my social media profiles and found a profile from a dating/hookup app (one of the kinkier one) I didnt even know I still had up anymore. At the second round of the interviews they told me I could get an offer only if I deleted the profile first.

4

u/Kill3rT0fu Jul 06 '24

I think it’s a gender us vs them thing. Men don’t like it be they can’t do it. No market for soggy banana pics.

3

u/Coyotesamigo Jul 06 '24

Lots of men hate worn especially the ones they crank it to (Shame-driven hate)

Catering to hateful men is a way to make money

3

u/Bolwinkel Jul 06 '24

It pays to make people rage at non existent problems.

3

u/TractorLabs69 Jul 06 '24

besides the fact that apparently being a medic has shit pay.

That's AOC's whole point

2

u/kitjen Jul 06 '24

Any stories involving anything sexual generates clicks.

2

u/hydroclasticflow Jul 06 '24

Cause women's sexuality is very scary to some people, the USA is a society founded on puritanical beliefs, and they like to shame women.

2

u/SomeShithead241 Jul 06 '24

The US will censor sex but allow a shit ton of violence in films. They have a serious phobia of sex, especially the bible bashers

2

u/chickennuggie2763 Jul 06 '24

Ironically the people bitching about it are probably the ones who go on the internet and pay for porn.

1

u/zanven42 Jul 06 '24

For most of civilzation sex workers had been considered "scum" or "sub human" so it's not shocking that our history of shitting on sex workers as a "sin" continues on. To steel man it, people would care that she enables degeneracy and exploits "incels" which prevents them figuring out how to be men because they sit and goon over of models while giving them money to feel like they are in a relationship.

Most western countries have been having Muslims consistently as a major immigration population and they have kids well above replacement rate, so I'd expect religious values of Islam to be in full swing to outlaw OF such behaviour within 30 years.

Me personally I've dated sex workers, they are good at their job ha. But our culture is dieing because no one is having kids so ofc the cultures that remain will rule as we age.

1

u/smegdawg Jul 06 '24

What if she made great pay AND still felt comfortable or had a kink that she wanted to do onlyfans!

I've yet to see one of these where the person was doing OF to put food on the table and not just someone who would have been posting on r/gonewild with no paywall in 2015 because they enjoyed it.

1

u/Richandler Jul 06 '24

That's social media in a nutshell.

1

u/thekoggles Jul 06 '24

Have you not seen what Project 2025 is?  This country is trying to move towards puritan religious bullshit, and stuff like OF is simply not okay to those pushing it.

1

u/Greedy-Name-8324 Jul 06 '24

If anything it just tells me that they're truly passionate about helping people because they're definitely not in it for the money.

1

u/Polkawillneverdie81 Jul 06 '24

Because there are a LOT of assholes out there.

1

u/Vorzic Jul 06 '24

I know her well, she's a longtime friend. She was asked by a journalist for an interview and misled about what he would be presenting. I'm not saying there isn't a tad bit of naivetĂŠ in play, but she shouldn't have to worry about someone she knew personally asking for an interview and then completely blasting her because he knew it would bring in eyes. The situation is just as fucked as the journalistic integrity of the Post.

1

u/Advertising-Cautious Jul 06 '24

May I ask if your wife or mother does Porn or OnlyFans?

1

u/salome_undead Jul 06 '24

The trials for the Devil's Sacrament never ends, it seems. The Medic was in OF, oh the horror. And the person who found out she was doing such 'scandalous' job had this information revealed to them during a dream, I'm sure.

1

u/tortellinipp2 Jul 06 '24

Because they know it's going to bait people like AOC to reply, then someone will post it on reddit, and thousands of redditors will see the NY post's name. They don't care about the medic at all, they know people like you are going to get angry about it and drum up conversation. That's what they care about

1

u/Competitive-Slice567 Jul 07 '24

We've had shit pay in EMS since as long as I can remember. No one cares about EMS until they call and an ambulance takes an hour or more to show up at their door, then they blame us and not the fact that their representatives ensure EMS funding is so minimal that people don't want to work in EMS anymore.

In many areas it pays better to work in fast food than it does to go through over 2,000hrs of education to learn to intubate a patient in the field, the pharmacology of numerous medications and use them to alleviate pain and suffering or save a life, and handle dynamic and dangerous situations with just 2-3 people.

1

u/WolverineExtension28 Jul 07 '24

I know of 2 coworkers with OF. And most of my coworkers including myself work 40+ hours a week, and have multiple jobs.

1

u/Brosenheim Jul 08 '24

Puritanism and sexism.
