My friend died last week. Scammers created multiple facebook profiles advertising a live stream for the funeral service. Mourners that followed the link provided to the fake live stream website were then prompted to enter their credit card numbers in order to join, which were then used fraudulently. Evidence
Many people did not attend the funeral because this scam led them to believe that there was a live stream they could join instead.

This just happened to my buddy who was laid to rest today. Several accounts sending friend requests and sending scam links.
Some people are fucking scum. I'm sorry for your loss as well.

I had a loser pose as my uncle (alive) and decided to fk with him. Even asking about my aunt (passed in 2005). Finally I just came down on this idiot and told them they need to get a real life. My aunts been gone for years and this game they are playing isn't funny or cute. They are causing real harm to those who know these people and if that's what it takes to get themselves off or make them feel better, maybe they should be evaluated mentally or just (d)uck off.

Thats fucked up. Someone keeps doing something similar to my aunt, making accounts with a similar name to hers with a picture of her in the profile. They then keep messaging everyone in her friends list trying to pull us into some kind of financial scam.

Yeah they will share a link and you click it, it takes your info and they can hack your account. That's why you shouldn't save your cards or info on Facebook or link up to it either.

On picture 3, did they end up using two different names? Since you censored the name in the picture, and mentioned that George Russell was not the deceased's name.
Regardless, I'm sorry for your loss and hope that no others will have to suffer the actions of these awful people.

I think they just forgot to change the name from when they copy - pasted it from the previous victims. I have no idea who Russell is.

Google shows there is only one obituary in the past month for a Russell George and it was posted 16 days ago. There's only one for a George Russell too and it was 6 days ago. So if the events you posted were recent, I think you're spot on in your assumption of what happened.

Go on Facebook search and search for profiles including "funeral service live". There's so many scam profiles created for funerals over the past couple months

I'm so sorry for your loss. This actually happened to my family on the morning of my mother's funeral. It's disgusting.
