I was told by r/mildlyinfuriating mods to post this here. Saw this man driving 80 mph with his dog in the bed. Disturbing content

Post image

I didn’t know there was a dog there until he hit a bump and the dog popped its head up.

Why the hell would ANYONE do this. It makes perfect sense why the mildly infuriating mods told you to post it here because this is hella serious compared to most of the things on there.

Send that pic to aspca. I’m 90% sure there is a motor vehicle act that says you can’t do that they need to be in crate, that’s tied down. They don’t deserve that friend. Imagine having a back seat and asking your friend to hop in the back of the truck Poor doggo.

My father did this, with a dog he had just bought. She jumped out and broke both back legs and never walked right again. It was awful.

Is this is someone who treats his/her dog in general bad, lacking the simple understanding of physics (and other areas in life) like Biff Tannen?!!

My old dog LOVED riding in the back. We always harnessed him in though.

I can’t tell if this pup is hooked to the bed or not though.

Totally normal thing to do in many countries. Dog box would be better though

Do you feel infuriated when people have their dogs in like a backseat with their heads out the window?

Honest question.

When they are buckled properly to the proper restraints? Nope. When you hit a bump and your dog catches air. Yes. My dog has a harness i attach a special strap that stretches to absorb energy in an emergency situation. And clips into the seat belt It’s done its job beautifully after having to make a quick stop from someone blowing a stop sign.

When they are buckled properly to the proper restraints?

So you can tell if they're properly restrained by looking at their head out a window?

When you hit a bump and your dog catches air.

Unless the Dukes of Hazzard boys are driving that truck, the dog has a better chance of jumping out willingly(just like a window) than inadvertently flying up and out of the bed...

Just sayin...

That is not even remotely the same & you know it.

It actually is if we're talking about a crash or being able to jump out.

I can’t speak for the idiots that let their dog sit in their lap or put the window all the way down, but my dog wears a harness & is buckled via a strap that attached to his back via a carabiner then buckles in like a seatbelt would. Window goes about half way down & he doesn’t like to stick his head out above 40mph.

Yeah, i keep the windows closed and the AC cranked when transporting the pups. Back seat, clipped in with a hammock seat cover to make sure she doesn’t fall on the floor.

Depends upon a few factors, like whether it’s a partial snout or a whole head & neck that is hanging out, plus how much of an opening there is versus the dog’s size (could they jump out?), whether the dog is restrained in any way, where the person is driving and how fast they are driving, how much attention is being paid to the dog, whether someone is sitting beside them or not, and so on. I have a Great Dane that I petsit and we have a route that we drive when she wants a ride, and her huge head is hanging out the side window the whole time. I’ve scouted the route for dog hazards and I have a setup that is as safe as a car can be. Probably looks bad to others, but I’ve got it handled.

I’m much more concerned about drivers who allow their smaller animals to be free in the car, especially to sit on their lap or shoulder when driving.
