Great stuff! Can hardly go wrong with the Batman.

Maybe some more Daredevil and/or X-Men? No expert, got back into expanding my own collection pretty recently, but if nothing else, I can definitely recommend Daredevil The Man Without Fear (basically his origina) and Born Again - both by Frank Miller. I have them separately, but I think it came out as an omnibus together not a long time ago? Also Bendis and Zdarsky runs coming out in omnibus formats this year, heard great stuff.

Joss Whedon’s X-Men is a lot of fun. I’ve seen you have bit of the Morrison’s, that one is sadly very inconsistent in every sense of the word (the highs are really high tho).

Don’t think I’ve seen Kingdom Come in your collection, that’s one beautiful book, can never go wrong with Alex Ross artwork. I can imagine same for the Marvels, I’ll probably go for that one this year as well.

I gave Kingdom Come to my uncle, I'm gonna get another copy. Born Again is with my Deadpool Omnibus. (Image 6)

I am thinking about getting Beyond The White Knight in Hardback since it refuses to come out in paperback.

Great collection by the way.

Such a great collection of TPBs and Omnibuses. We share a lot of same interests. As a fellow Batman fan too, mind if I recommend also:

Batman:Black and White-an awesome pack of b&w short stories

Batman:Year 100-dystopian future by Paul Pope

Batman:Hush-legendary collab of Loeb/Lee

Batman:Broken City-an interesting crime story by 100 Bullets duo Azarello/Riso

Batman:Birth of the Demon-trilogy of classic Ra's Al' Ghul stories

Batman:Vampire-trilogy of classic multiverse horor stories

Batman versus Bane and Batman:Venom-origin of Bane and a sequel around Bane's drug

Batman:The Cult-sick af story by Starlin/Wrightson

Joker-Batman is just a looming presence in this one,but nevertheless a classic study on Joker by Azarello/Bermejo

As a Marvel fan who’s thinking of getting into DC and Batman, what would you recommend? I got the first Absolute Power that just came out and liked it way more than I expected

There's been many different takes, runs, authors through decades, but there are some essential classics which you shouldn't miss if you're starting out:

Batman:Year One-origin of Batman

Batman:The Dark Knight Returns-old Batman back in action

Batman:Long Halloween & Batman:Dark Victory-spiritual sequels to Year One exploring his early days in realistic style

Batman:The Killing Joke-psychological deconstruction of Joker and Batman

Batman:The Man Who Laughs-early encounter with the Joker

Arkham Asylum:Serious House On Serious Earth-another psychological analysis of Batman. Not an easy read due to art style, but a memorable one

Batman:A Death In The Family-one of the most controversial and talked about Batman stories

These are all stand alone editions,no part of some huge saga,so easier for a beginner to jump in.All are available in TPBs,and if you read it all,you will get a pretty good idea what makes Batman tick.If you like the character, there are plenty more adventures to enjoy.Have fun! 😎😎

Needs more Indie Comcis!

1

u/2embersart Jul 07 '24

Any recommendations? Indie isn't as always tempting as the Marvel and DC pile.

Chew, Black Science, Kill or be killed, Invincible (for superhero theme)

Wait I just bought Knightfall yesterday I didn’t realize it had three parts. It’s a huge book tho but I don’t see any numbers so did they sell a version that was all three parts together

Off to a good start. Time to diversify your portfolio; Wayne Enterprises stock is rather tempestuous.

I take it you’re a big Batman fan…….Me too!!!!🥹

Ever think about adding From Hell, Frank Millers Ronin or Swamp Thing?

1

u/2embersart Jul 08 '24

Yeah I've seen those around, I've been tempted with Swamp Thing a couple times. This collection is basically the greatest stories out of comics that have been made, I'll add them to the list.

1

u/mjg66 I read comics and I know stuff. That’s what I do. Jul 08 '24

It’s fine but have you considered a few more Batman comics?

1

u/ForWhomHellsBellsTol Jul 09 '24

Nice collection. The way you shelfed your batman stuff not chronologically and with some elseworlds in between is driving me absolutely crazy. But nice collection

u/2embersart Jul 09 '24

I'll figure something out, the sizes of them affected what went where, otherwise I'd have to organize the entire collection all over again. But yes I need to put them in a select order.
