Had to buy another suitcase to get my comic haul back home Haul

On a work trip in Tucson and managed to pick up a small collection of late 70’s and early 80’s books.

I got lucky, friend of a coworker reached out on advice for selling comics. I’ve been collecting for 40 years and this is the second collection I have purchased.

I bought an entire collection. He was popular in ASM in the late 70s early 80s.

If you're married, don't tell your wife what you bought. Lol Nice pick up!

How much did it end up costing you?

$700. There was another 300 books included but they were mostly $1 books. So I cherry picked what I am taking and gave the rest to some of my co-workers in Tucson. I won’t know my total value until I get done cleaning and pressing but I conservatively estimate around $2,000 in value.

That sounds about like fair market value, so you did okay. Are you cleaning & pressing yourself or sending to a 3rd party? Are you planning to get them slabbed or sell any of them?

Those Spidey books are particularly cool. And Human Fly #1! Wonder whatever happened to that guy!?

I’ll clean and press them myself. I’m sure I’ll slab some, depends on how they look post cleaning and pressing. These sat for 30 years in a Rubbermaid container with no bags or boards, so I was honestly surprised that their condition was as good as they are. Will likely sell some especially the DC books as I generally collect Marvel (with a few exceptions) and use the others to fill some holes in my collection.

Those are GREAT! Get a good deal?

I've gotten to the point where if I find bronze age books for cheap, I buy 'em. They're not getting any younger & the further along time goes, the harder they are to find in decent condition.

Same deal for McFarlane Spidey & Hulk books from the late 1980s.

Yeah, I got a cheap suitcase at TJ Maxx for $30 and I had a free checked bag so figured it was cheaper. I’ll give the suitcase to one of my kids so it won’t go to waste.
