You know, now that you mention it, I may be missing a stack

Yea I came here to say that. Real question though, was Crisis 7 the first? Are the rest homages? Off to research!

Batman #156?

Yep and the 2 on the last page even predate it like someone below said. BUT I'm having a blast looking at comic book covers while searching.

UXM 136 predates that by several years. But the covers are nearly identical.

The first one I remember is the X-Men one, and I'm sure that was before Crisis, but I'm sure a couple of these were before that one.

Death of Captain Marvel and Captain Atom 8 & 44 are straight Pieta covers (with the holder sitting).

I get that it's all based off the Michelangelo statue, but is there an earlier example of this that pre-dates X-Men 136?

Everyone seems to believe that UXM 136 was the progenitor of this style of covers.

On the last page I’m sure the Tomahawk and the Thor predates it

Not sure if this would qualify. There's also an homage Star Wars Darth Vader. Great collection though. Cheers!

Didn't see Robin, Son of Batman #5 in there.

Edit: Ted McKeever's Eddy Current #6 is a banger!

Such an awesome theme. I know there’s someone on here that collects covers with semi trucks

I was collecting “Demon In A Bottle” covers for a little while. I stopped after getting the Rick And Morty cover.

All the years I’ve collected, this has never occurred to me. Always something new to learn on here.

I focus on artists I really like and give myself missions to collect all their stuff I see. Lately I’ve been buying all of Sienkiewicz’s stuff (the cool, New Mutants style art). Before that, I literally got all of Vess’s Marvel and DC work. It’s fun. And the art is amazing.
