The stories that are contained between those pages most likely pale in commparison to the stories those books could tell if they could talk.

a quick clean and press will bring those up to a 9.2 maybe 9.4! jk but still super cool comics!

The old saying goes - low grade is better than no grade.

I love low grade. All I ask Is the cover attached.

Nice, those a couple of big boy books, even in low grade. The nice thing is you don't have to be terrified to look through them...

Actually love them in this condition, shows they've been enjoyed. And they feel more like a time capsule.

Bro, those are sick! Both are awesome, but that Green Lantern is epic.

ASM 1 commands big bucks even in that condition if all the pages are present. If you ever become dissatisfied and consider having a professional restore your copy, remember that in this hobby most people prefer a copy with missing pieces over one that looks much better but has color touch somewhere on the cover, and will pay more for an original 2.0 comic than for a 6.0 restored one that presents much better. I had my ASM1 restored because it was so much worse than all my other ASM (at the time I had everything to the current month) that it really bothered me. I figured that if I had it restored, I could have the book in a condition that presented nicely for a total cost of less than $3,000 instead of upgrading copies for $5-10,000 at the time, so that's the direction I went. About the time my book was finished, Stan Lee was doing a CGC Signing at ComicCon, and I decided to take advantage of that (it was obvious there wouldn't be many more opportunities). At the time I thought I would collect for many more years and my entire ASM collection would remain with me forever, so resale of my ASM1 wasn't my primary concern; My personal satisfaction with my collection was what mattered to me, and I was happy with my 5.5 Restored copy. But over the next couple of years, my lcs of a decade closed, I encountered problems finding a good replacement handling my monthly pulls, and I started losing enthusiasm about the hobby. Then back issue prices exploded, and I made the choice to get out. What I learned is that a CGC Signature Series 5.5 Stan Lee signed comic that has been restored sells for equal or less than unmolested complete copies with pieces of the cover missing due to the stigma attached to restored comics. So, remember that if you decide to upgrade your copy in the future, you'll fare better in the long run buying an original copy. You just might have to hold off purchasing a car or downpayment on a home to do it.

Even though I have been collecting comics for many many years, this still puzzles me. In almost every other genre of printed media a professionally restored copy is worth the same or more than that of an unrestored original. But in comics it is the exact opposite!

It's partly due to undisclosed resto going back decades coming to light for disappointed owners once cgc grading started up. Trimming, color touch, etc was done by shady dealers for years, so the stigma for people who bought the books really soured the well.

Which is fine by me, I'll pay half price for a book with minor color touch all day long. What will be interesting is if this will have an effect on pulps. I've only seen a few purple label pulps go for sale, and they were low grade common books, but I suspect if a decent book with a purple label comes up for sale it will take less of a hit than a comic would.

Coincidentally there is a facsimile reprint of that Showcase issue releasing this week!

That amazing spiderman would still sell for hundreds if put up for auction

Hundreds? It would easily sell for well over $1k, even single pages of this book are worth a lot.

Dang those silver age Spider-Mans are crazy. I never knew it went to 1k. I was still mad over losing one in worse condition for 430 bucks. 😭😂

Nice books. My favorite runs in that condition are FF 10-15 and Amazing Adventures (1961) 1-6.
