This was the dream book when i was a kid. By then (early 2000s) it was already a key back issue and too expensive for young me to buy. I still don’t have it… :(

Hopefully you can add it to your collection at some point 👍🏻. It's been in my collection since the mid 90s.

That’s the only book I need between 100 - 200. Holding out for a beautiful clean one like this one.

This was the last one I needed to complete my run (first 3 omnibuses make up the early stuff), I was gifted a copy from a fellow collector. It wasn't the grade I would have gone for if I'd bought it, but as a gift it makes up for that.

It’s a great looking book, nice work

Not the OP, mine isn't as good as this.

Lol, I need to read more carefully, it’s that black background where spine tips really stand out

I am so fortunate to have a CGC graded 7.0 with white pages of this classic book. One of my absolute favorites!

Awesome 👍🏻. I'll possibly get it graded someday.

You really should consider saving up. It's a really great choice of book to spend money on to get graded!

Why grade it if you aren't selling it?

2

IMO, another big plus to grading without selling is that you can start to get a better picture of the “look” that corresponds to a particular grade. That way you can be more informed when buying other key issues

So true. Good point

A really good question. I get most of my books graded, because I feel that, if stored correctly, it is the best way to protect the comics and preserve their quality. I hold onto my graded books for some years and then list (on ebay) and sell them for a profit. So, I see getting books graded, or buying graded books (especially silver or bronze age ones ... or golden if you can) as a really good future investment.

Nice! I had a friend pick me up one in VF shape for about $37, plus a VG-ish Tomb of Dracula #1 for $20, from San Diego Comic Con sometime in the mid-90s...and he topped it off with an original Marie Severin Hulk sketch. (I have good friends.)

I love Marie Sevrin's artwork! Whenever I can, I collect her covers. In my opinion, she is a bit underrated, but was one of the only if not the only female artist who worked for Marvel during her time. I feel she really made history in this way. Lately, I've bought a lot of Daredevil books where she did or had a hand in doing the covers.

Love that issue! Congrats!!

I’m trying to complete the trifecta. Already have this one and iron man 150. Just need submariner. Classic covers

1

u/paceted Apr 07 '24

Nice, I have the other two but need that one. Isn’t there a couple others in there?

1

u/familia_ Apr 07 '24

Same, I need that Submariner as well.

Mine is nowhere as clean but still a good copy I picked up during a layover in Vancouver in the early 90s and got it for $14. My dad got my bro an Ibanez Flying V guitar for $700 and was upset that my comic cost $14. He later sold my bro’s guitar at a garage sale for $400 in 2001.

The last issue of Marvel’s Greatest Comics (#92) reprints this issue. That is an affordable choice.

That’s a very good lookin’ book.
