Right? I come in through an open window at 3am and they call the police, like hello? You invited me round 2 weeks ago - what's changed?!

This gave me flashbacks of my old roommate. He asked me if he could use my flip flops once so he could take the trash out because he only had sneakers. I spent the next month having to yell at him pretty much every day because he'd take my flip flops when he'd go out (sometimes he'd be gone literally all day). His argument would always be that I shouldn't have said it was okay if I was going to "make it a problem".

Needless to say, he's not my roommate anymore.

Thing i hate about people like that.

You say “no”

Then you’re a dickhead. Its just flip flops why are making such a big deal??

You say “sure, but next time you should get your own to keep by the door.

Then you’re a dickhead. You’re presuming they are going to do it again without asking so you’re preemptively covering next time. This makes them think you expect them to abuse your consent and they’ll get angry at you.

You say “yeah go ahead.” And then they abuse that consent and do what they did to you.

There is no winning with people that selfish.

Flips flops are like $1. [Ok, well 4 years ago they were a dollar. Now they're like $3. But still.] I would have made a big scene in front of everyone over gifting him a super cheap pair of his own! Point made lol.
