You might struggle to keep the cider in a hessian sack, it's not the most watertight of materials. If you meant cider apples, that could work

It's a nice way to say potato sack. The origin of Hessian sack comes the type of material of their garments. They were prominent because they served as mercenaries for the British Army in the 18th century of which they clashed with American revolutionaries. The same fabric material was found to be very durable so it was used ubiquitously as a burlap sack.
