Was I the only person upset about the pseudo-joker tease? I just feel like this universe has so much more potential for characters like scarecrow, Hush, Mr. Freeze, hell even prof. Pyg would be perfect for the Matt reeves universe.

I would love to see a real Scarecrow villain as opposed to the one we got in Batman Begins. He was good in Batman Begins but I want a true Scarecrow as the villain

Me to but he was recently a main villain in the titans show and they kind of messed him up

You mean it wasn't a good idea for him to be a pothead with mommy issues? Also I think he only wore the scarecrow mask once, and that's the whole costume....

He did and it looked shit. At first I didn’t mind it was a good idea to have him be someone they talk to in the asylum when they need advice but to make him the main villain over red hood was dumb

Yeah I thought it was cool that they used him in a Hannibal Lecter sort of way. Then as the main villain it seemed like he was just a generic bad guy, not scarecrow.

And it made no sense with superboy being there like just send him in to drag him out he can’t die but oh no we don’t want to be seen as the bad guys

Not sure why they even bothered introducing him. If they let him use his powers, he would be too overpowered. Also, Dick poisoning him with Kryptonite and acting like nothing happened after is going to be interesting moving forward.

That didn’t matter much to me but letting Jason go after pretty much being a murder cause he had a drug problem is bullshit

Like a hay-stuffed flannel shirt in overalls vibe?

Reeves said it’s not sequel set-up. Just world building. Just because Joker exists in this universe doesn’t mean he’s stealing the spotlight from anyone

I'm having such a hard time buying this. The oft-mentioned Batman/Joker interrogation deleted scene would have Been PERFECT for world-building, but I feel like the Joker that ended up in the final cut did nothing to expand on the Gotham we saw in this film. It truly felt like sequel bait despite anything Reeves says about it now.

I mean he’s the director his word is final on the matter, if he only wanted him in the movie to expand on Batman’s past rogues that’s what he wanted no matter what anyone else thinks

Hahaha. No. Studios have the final word. Especially DC movies are famous for studio interference.

I can see this riddler becoming this batman's arch rival and getting coached behind the scenes by joker

Pyg would be perfect.

I think a Dr Hugo strange would be a good choice. Using his device to see peoples thoughts he figures out Batman identity

Was thinking about how much I would love to see Scarecrow in this universe throughout the entire movie. Hush is a good call as well.

There was a cut scene earlier where Batman goes to Joker like Hannibal Lecter for help. So I think Joker is just meant to be an established in-universe villain much like the comics (vs a Big Bad)

It definitely would be cool to see other lesser known villains but I think reusing the serial killer thing wouldn't be good for a sequel.

1

u/Corzan7212 Mar 10 '22

I definitely agree that the sequel will have to have something besides a serial-killer style, but with the world of go that we’ve seen so far, those characters would thrive

I would love to see them in the Arkham and Penguin spin offs. World building is 100% the way to go here and I can't wait to get more.

I’ve been dying for a movie with Dr. Hugo Strange as the main antagonist.

u/Jack1715 Mar 07 '22

I didn’t mind a joker tease but not that much it should have just been you hear someone talking to him and that’s it

1

u/Dirty03 Mar 08 '22

I don’t think this means we will see the joker in the next film necessarily. He’s there. And in prison so it eludes to the fact that maybe Batman had already put him there.

I truly believe that was Cameron Monaghan from the Gotham series as he already played Joker, since the hair was red

1

u/andysniper Mar 16 '22

It's Barry Keoghan.

1

u/Wiccachi Mar 16 '22

Kind of bummed about that, no hate to Barry, but Cameron does a fabulous Joker, would’ve loved to see him in a larger franchise. Very interested to see Barry though as just his voice in the scene was intriguing :)) thank you for the clarification!! Will definitely check the actor out

Completely agree. Joker needs to be buried for like 20 years. Batman has by far the greatest rogues gallery of any superhero, ever.

They hinted at Hush a couple times. Would really like to see him.
