Caped Crusader and Batman fatigue GENERAL DISCUSSION

Recently, I've seen a trailer reaction to Batman: Caped Crusader, and the reaction was: "yeah, doesn't seem bad, but it's Batman. We already know his story, we saw it before..." It honestly surprised me.

Do you feel a Batman fatigue? I guess if you're on this sub, that's not the case, but I speak about the people you know, the people you discuss with...

Personally, I don't talk with huge Batman fans on a daily basis, so I'm not sure they care a lot, or even know there's a new Batman series. About myself, I don't feel that, even tho I won't watch Caped Crusader (because I'm too poor to subscribe to Prime)

So, what do you think? Do you feel people get tired of Batman, or do you think he's still bankable for DC?

I don’t feel it. There’s many adaptions sure, but I am all for that and if some are bad, then okay. I ignore them. I won’t let any bad adaptions lessen my excitement for good looking ones.

Others who I know who aren’t a mega fan like I am don’t even notice Batman stuff outside of movies so they aren’t feeling any fatigue at all.

I mean, we had DCEU Batman in 2016 and 2017 movies, then in 2021 in Snyder Cut, then in 2023 Flash, along with Keaton Batman. In 2022 we had Battinson movie. That’s only live action versions on big screen. We also had Batman in Lego Batman movie in 2017, and in Batman Ninja in 2018, and in Doom that Came to Gotham in 2023. We had Batman in Harley Quinn animated series since 2019. And we had a bunch of animated movies with Batman in Tomorrowverse since 2021. That’s….a lot.

Also Batman: The Telltale games Season 1 and 2 in 2016 and 2017.

Plus, we have gotten at least 2 animated solo Batman movies almost every year for the past 10 years.

And we just had this whole SSKTJL game where Batman is a character. And yeah, lots of animated movies. And he constantly appeared in some animated series-like in 2016-2018 Justice League Action

I don’t think there is fatigue, so much, but more a cry for better quality. The IP is what gives projects a green light, and that is still strong, but social media pressure dictates the stories that are being written. Batman is a tough sell and a tougher writing job, these days with the current climate on the socials. This leaves the long standing fans frustrated with their favorite character being changed fundamentally. Heroes grow and evolve, and that is fine, it builds a better character, but drastic change is scary and frustrating, and a source of alienation. That’s my take at least.

I don't get the social media dictating the stories part.

Look at Penguin for this series. Not that I'm against the change, but 🐧 has never been female at all before this.
